$149 dollars a month or $1500 in one payment. Yes, crazy expensive. I have been wanting to start a TeachersPayTeachers store since August (when I consider my retirement to have started). What has been stopping me has been having no idea where to start. My husband, who is in marketing, asked how I will be advertising my stuff. Didn't have a clue. In came Kayse Morris with 4 free videos, which then led to her course purchase. She teaches you step by step how to make products and how to promote your stuff. This is exactly what I need to get started. Why is this crazy lady posting this on the scrapbooking forum? Because the only way my husband agreed to this giant investment was for me to NOT BUY ANY scrappy supplies until 1. I get my investment back or 2. I have a real business up and running. He has seen how I am a class hoarder. He knows I am a procrastinator. So this was his way of giving me the incentive to make my business succeed without him having to nag me about it. NO SCRAPPY SUPPLIES!! No Hobby Lobby, Joanns, TM, LSS. No Hip Kit, Elle's studio, scrapbook.com, acherryontop, Creative Memories. Any encouragement you can send starting in January will be very much appreciated.

TpT is Teachers Pay Teachers. It’s a site where teachers can sell stuff they’ve created for classrooms. I just bought a 30 book challenge for my class during the CyberMonday sale. I couldn’t teacher science without it. Since my system adopted a science series that only covers three of seven standards I have to teach, I’ve used resources from TpT to fill the gaps. It’s a site I spend way too much money on and don’t ever see myself stopping. I like that the teacher creator gets a nice chunk of the sale price.

Good for you! I hope it's really helpful. We're all good enablers and encouragers here, I think, so just make sure you stay in the frozen pea and use-it-up threads and away from the shopping ones!! Unsub from all the emails, unfollow all the brands, set challenges/start threads that focus on not spending and using things up, and keep your eyes on the prize

Good luck! I hope it's everything you are looking for! That's a big commitment but you can totally do it. Keep us posted on how it goes. I've seen some amazing businesses fail because they don't have a marketing plan. No matter how great your product is, if no one knows about it, you can't sell it. It's smart that you are taking a class that includes marketing.

You've shelled out the money. PROCRASTINATION IS NOT AN OPTION! Keep saying that to yourself. And mentally kick yourself in the behind. Or maybe just a shove. You can do it!

Congratulations and good luck to you. My mother was a huge fan of TPT before she retired. It’s a great site and great way to support other teachers instead of big business.

That’s awesome! What kinds of TpT things will you be making? Anything for 3rd grade? I always want to support my fellow peas! Well thank you. Right now I am focusing on reading and writing for ESL kids from beginning English level to level 3's and 4s. I also know these resources will be very useful for low SEL kids (kids on free or reduced lunch) and hopefully this class will help me market to teachers who work with that population too. To answer your question: I think yes? I am focusing on k-2 but it wouldn't be a stretch to do 3rd too. Thanks for support!

I'm a huge fan (and customer!) of TpT. Wishing you good luck! that's part of the reason I wanted to start a shop there. I have spent so much money on that site. Most of it was totally worth it. Some I was sorry I purchased. I want to be the "totally worth it" person, not the "well that was a waste of money" person.

It's smart that you are taking a class that includes marketing. Thank you and exactly. My husband is in marketing and kept asking how I was going to market my stuff and I said "don't know. TpT? Pinterest?" Now I won't have to spend hours and hours looking up how to market. I can spend those hours actually marketing

I actually used my receipts from TpT in my evaluation as proof (I forgot the official word) of how much I go above and beyond. Lots of money. Lots of stuff that went with our curriculum. All my idiotic principal said was "Wow. That's a lot of money!" No s#$t. I did get point for it though.
