A couple of newer, but vocal, Peas have left today. Of course, they might be older Peas who had changed their usernames, possibly more than once.  And it got me wondering what could upset me enough to leave, with or without a hairflip. And I can’t think of anything! So it looks like I’m here for the duration.  What would make you shut down your account and (possibly) never come back? |

I don't see me leaving over an incident or a thread...I think if I leave it'll be because I gradually stopped checking the board and it faded out of my daily routine (based on what has happened with other boards in the past for me)

I didn't realize the gravy thread had turned so contentious. (ETA: I just realized it was actually the mashed potato thread, but when I was last in there, the discussion had turned to gravy. ) |

If the board got super boring
If I decided to leave, I would totally hairflip out. I would want my exit to be of pea lore. You know like, where were you when freecharlie hairflipped and then a 6 page thread would follow where everybody recounted their own story

But in true hair flip fashion, you need to come back with an alias... something that isn't obvious... but your comments will have the freecharlie flare and will lead us to suspect that it might really be you.

I think when I leave I will just go away. No hair flip, no drama. Maybe some of the sb side of the board would notice, but I expect it to would take awhile for most to notice.

I don't know who left or why :/ I've been a registered Pea for 18.5 years. Was probably hanging at 2P's for more than a year before registering though. At this point, I think serious illness or death is about all that would make me leave And 'hairflip' is so not me. I've taken time off over the years when things have gotten on my nerves, but would never cause a ruckus. #boring |

If it was so ugly like the board was in 2004-2005 at times.... I would leave and did. I got sucked in back then by the sharks. I was the new fish. I was so naive then and they (can't quite remember the names) kept going and going and going and I kept responding and responding. I don't think this place is like that now, but previously very intimidating, especially with the Meat blog and the other secret blog. New times and thicker skin for me, but for others, it may be too much.

I could. Honestly, sometimes if someone is dealing with raw feelings about something and opens up here because they think it's "safe", they may get unexpected insensitive and pile-on commenting from others, at times, and it can really affect someone. I think it has gotten much better here, but I really am not a fan of "keyboard courage" and no matter how much people swear up and down that they would treat others IRL the same, that just isn't true in the majority of cases. I am biased, though...I work as a negotiator and in my 20+ years I've seen the difference in how much better deals go ALL the time when we work together face-to-face. The key is to only post what you feel comfortable with anyone seeing and have some empathy before responding. Trolls, though.....just chuck them out the window!  |

I’ve been coming here for way too many years. I’ve also never been attacked on here. I’m not very controversial or interesting, so I blend into the background fabric of this place. I’ve been coming here (and the bucket for many years before here) for way too long. I know I haven’t been on much lately as I am trying to get many things accomplished at home, but you feel like longtime friends and I care about all of you. Heck, once I move to Oregon, you are the only friends that I will be taking with me.❤️ Checking in here has become so routine for me that it would feel weird to never come back. Divorce isn’t an option for me here.🥰

What would make you shut down your account and (possibly) never come back? I don’t know about leaving completely, but boredom and nastiness are reasons I will step back and spend more time on FB. I no longer post on many posts just because some peas are too happy to jump on or correct others opinions or feelings. I also have several peas hidden because of the type of things they post or their negativity. When the negativity outweighs the fun, I could see myself leaving. I remember back in the day a co-worker/friend/relative could ask me a question and I’d come do a search and have an answer or several answers for them. It’s not like that anymore and I miss that. |
