— @yamiche #ImpeachmentPBS”

Dipping my toe in here. Can someone clarify something for me. I was listening to the hearing today, there was a pro Trump, male with a southern accent speaking who said that the Democrats had prevented key witness from appearing. That it was required that there was eye witness testimony to prove treason and the Dems were prevent that testimony (insinuating that if those witness testified it would be evident that Trump was innocent).
My understanding is that the only witnesses that have been prevented from testifying have been those who were blocked by DT. What am I missing? Or is this just another spin of the facts by the Republicans?
Thanks! tiptoeing out....

the republicans want bidens and schiff to testify... and others.. IMO, there is no reason for any Biden to testify. This hearing is not really about them or anything they may or may not have done. However, I do think that Trump and all of those that he has blocked from testifying should do so. And by blocking them, we are right to make assumptions as to why. Just like someone who fails to take a required drug test is assumed to be "dirty."

”Statement of U.S. Attorney John H. Durham
“I have the utmost respect for the mission of the Office of Inspector General and the comprehensive work that went into the report prepared by Mr. Horowitz and his staff. However, our investigation is not limited to developing information from within component parts of the Justice Department. Our investigation has included developing information from other persons and entities, both in the U.S. and outside of the U.S. Based on the evidence collected to date, and while our investigation is ongoing, last month we advised the Inspector General that we do not agree with some of the report’s conclusions as to predication and how the FBI case was opened.”

Thanks! tiptoeing out.... No need to tiptoe out. The GOP did have 3 witnesses of choice several weeks ago and they had also been on the Dem list too. They are also planning to call Hunter Biden, Joe Biden, the Whistleblower, Rep Adam Schiff, not likely to happen in the House hearings. They might be able to call them for the 'trial' in the Senate. The GOP keeps saying that there have been no first hand witnesses, of course those are the people that the president as ordered not to appear. The WH/president have not released any documents for the hearings either!

The only person the Democrats have blocked from testifying, that I know of, is the Whistleblower; for obvious reasons, foremost that his/her identity would become public. eta: the Democrats have provided multiple witnesses that have corroborated everything in the whistleblower’s report, so there is no need for the actual whistleblower to become public. His or her testimony would be redundant. It is a dangerous bullying attempt on the part of the GOP to dismantle the whistleblower program and the protections provided, making it unlikely that more whistleblowers will come forth. Which, with this administration, is a strong possibility. The GOP want to do away with whistleblowers altogether (until it serves their purposes down the road, of course).

Republican senators echoed Biden in urging Ukrainian president to reform prosecutor general's officeBy Andrew Kaczynski and Em Steck, CNN Updated 2:40 PM ET, Thu October 3, 2019 (CNN)A newly unearthed letter from 2016 shows that Republican senators pushed for reforms to Ukraine's prosecutor general's office and judiciary, echoing calls then-Vice President Joe Biden made at the time.CNN's KFile found a February 2016 bipartisan letter signed by several Republican senators that urged then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko to "press ahead with urgent reforms to the Prosecutor General's office and judiciary." ** The letter shows that addressing corruption in Ukraine's Prosecutor General's office had bipartisan support in the US and further undercuts a baseless attack made by President Donald Trump and his allies that Biden pressured the Ukrainian government to fire then Prosecutor General Viktor Shokin to stop investigations into a Ukrainian natural gas company that his son, Hunter Biden, sat on the board of. There is no evidence of wrongdoing by either Joe or Hunter Biden, nor is it clear whether Hunter was under investigation at all. Trump called the 2016 dismissal of the Ukrainian prosecutor "unfair" in his July 25 call to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, saying, "A lot of people are talking about that, the way they shut your very good prosecutor down and you had some very bad people involved," according to the rough transcript of the phone call. ** The 2016 letter, sent by members of the Senate Ukraine Caucus, was signed by Republican Sens. Rob Portman, Mark Kirk and Ron Johnson, as well as Democratic Sens. Dick Durbin, Jeanne Shaheen, Chris Murphy, Sherrod Brown, and Richard Blumenthal and focused on longstanding issues of corruption in Ukraine and urged reforms of the government. ** Bi-partisan support for anti-corruption efforts and praise for Biden's work A CNN KFile review of hearings in the House and Senate at the time also found bi-partisan concern for corruption in Ukraine from Republican members of Congress and praise for Biden's efforts from former members of George W. Bush's administration and an Obama administration official who is now a nominee for an ambassadorship in the Trump administration. ** They complained, too, that Procurator General Viktor Shokin was a compromised figure who had served as Procurator General in the Yanukovych Administration. "By late fall of 2015, the EU and the United States joined the chorus of those seeking Mr. Shokin's removal as the start of an overall reform of the Procurator General's Office," he added. "US Vice President Joe Biden spoke publicly about this before and during his December visit to Kyiv; but Mr. Shokin remained in place." Added Herbst, "Vice President Biden has been a great advocate for reform in Ukraine." ** At the same hearing, John E. Herbst, a former Ambassador to Ukraine in the Bush administration and now director of the Atlantic Council's Eurasia Center, testified that there was widespread support for the removal of Sholkin and praised specifically praised Biden. ** cnn.com/2019/10/03/politics/gop-senators-echoed-biden-on-ukraine-reforms-kfile/index.htmlKeep in mind GOP Senators Portman and Ron are still sitting Senators!! They sign the letter in 2016

One of the reasons why they want Schiff to testify personally is so they can ask him under oath who the whistleblower is.

Look out Moscow Mitch, Cruz and Cornyn!! ** Houston Police chief Art Acevedo on Monday lambasted Republican senators for their failure to take action on gun violence and the long-stalled Violence Against Women Act after a city police sergeant was fatally shot while responding to an incident of domestic violence. Acevedo singled out Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Texas's Republican senators, Ted Cruz and John Cornyn, saying during a press conference that he did not "want to see their little smug faces [saying] how much they care about law enforcement when I’m burying a sergeant because they don’t want to piss off the [National Rifle Association]," The Guardian reported. The comments from Acevedo came just two days after Sgt. Christopher Brewster was shot and killed after responding to a call from a female victim who reported that her boyfriend assaulted her and was armed with two guns. A 25-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with capital murder, Houston police said Sunday. “We’ve got to get the Violence Against Women Act acted upon,” Acevedo said, referring to legislation that first passed in 1994 and lapsed during last year's government shutdown. “We’ve got to get in a room. I don’t want to hear about how much they support law enforcement, how much they care about lives and the sanctity of lives."** thehill.com/homenews/senate/473778-houston-police-chief-excoriates-mcconnell-cornyn-and-cruz-on-gun-violence

Can we say conflict of interest?!?!?! A Republican witnesses from the House impeachment inquiry will join the Senate Republican lunch on Tuesday. Jonathan Turley, who testified during a House Judiciary Committee hearing last week, will take part in the closed-door caucus lunch, a source familiar confirmed to The Hill. The lunch comes as senators are ramping up their efforts to prepare for a likely impeachment trial in the Senate, which is expected to start as early as January. GOP senators had lunch last week with White House counsel Pat Cipollone. Turley, a George Washington University law professor and opinion contributor for The Hill, was the only GOP witness invited to last week's public hearing before the House Judiciary Committee. Three Democratic witnesses also took part in the hearing and argued that Trump's attempt to push the Ukraine government for political favors was an abuse of power. ** thehill.com/homenews/senate/473781-impeachment-witness-to-meet-with-senate-gop-tuesday

”This was an attempted overthrow,' President Trump claimed after a watchdog said it found numerous errors but no political bias in an FBI probe of his 2016 campaign”
How can it be an “attempted overthrow” when it all started before he was even elected president?

This is slightly off topic but...
Does anyone else think that the way Melania wears the coats over her shoulders in the WH, or the yellow dress meeting the Queen during the NATO anniversary is a bit reminiscence of The Handmaid's Tail?

Newsweek.. ”BREAKING: Tulsi Gabbard declines to join December Democratic debate regardless of qualification” I’m curious, does anyone really care? I’m curious if she is setting herself up to run as an independent so that third party voters help elect Trump again. Russia caused a lot of dissension in various groups, I remember Black Lives Matter specifically, where they had fake profiles claim they just couldn’t vote for Hillary because of blah blah blah, and were either not voting or were voting for Stein. A 3rd party will be needed if they will be putting that same play into action.
