“The political theater unfolding in the Senate Judiciary Committee today is premised on the fantastical notion that the FBI investigated Trump to stop him from becoming president, which requires you to ignore the fact that the FBI released information about Clinton and not Trump.”
That letter about nothing released 11 days before the election was done because of the FBI agents in NY leaking information to Giuliani about Clinton.

"Varsity Blues" gets a trumper!! ** James Littlefair, an advance staffer who worked for Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, has resigned from the department after his mother pleaded guilty to illegally helping him graduate from Georgetown University as part of the nationwide “Varsity Blues” college admissions scandal, according to two people familiar with the matter.Littlefair resigned earlier this month; his mother, Karen Littlefair, of Newport Beach, Calif., was charged on Monday with one charge of wire fraud conspiracy. She agreed to plead guilty in an agreement signed on Nov. 11. ** Prosecutors from the Department of Justice said that she paid college admissions consultant William “Rick” Singer $9,000 so that an employee of his would take four online classes for her son at Georgetown and Arizona State University in 2017 through April 2018. The federal indictment says that her son used credits that were improperly obtained to graduate from Georgetown in May 2018. James Littlefair’s LinkedIn profile shows he attended Georgetown from 2012 to 2016.The U.S. Attorney for the District of Massachusetts is recommending Karen Littlefair serve four months in prison, pay a fine of $9,500 and serve 12 months of supervised release. James Littlefair worked as part of the national advance team on the Trump campaign before working as an event coordinator for the Presidential Inaugural Committee. He joined Treasury as an advance staffer in March 2017. Littlefair, who has not been charged with a crime, declined to comment when reached by POLITICO. ** The younger Littlefair is a “very proud Georgetown graduate, very involved in Georgetown activities, whether it’s basketball games or other alumni stuff,” a friend said. A spokesperson for Georgetown said the university’s honor council “will investigate and adjudicate the case and may recommend sanctions up to and including the revocation of the student’s degree.” ** Before joining the administration, in the summer of 2014, Littlefair was an intern in the office of former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. ** www.politico.com/news/2019/12/11/treasury-staffer-college-admissions-scandal-082461Why was he not charged with a crime? He seems to have knowingly USED the illegally gotten credits he KNOWS he did not earn!! He's a very rpoud graduate of Georgetown? He is certainly not honoring Georgetown, now is he!!

”Takeaways from hearing so far: (1) investigation was properly opened; (2) serious mistakes and malfeasance occurred with FISA on Page; (3) FISA problems occurred AFTER case was opened, and no resulting evidence was used; (4) FISA process must be fixed, but it had no impact here.”

“FISA abuse is very bad, but occurred AFTER case was opened and related only to the FISA, one small piece of the investigation that resulted in no evidence that was used. FISA must be fixed, but probe was no witch hunt.”

Police et al cannot investigate anything, no need for prosecutors or judges. Two juries could sit and hear a case in the same court room and go to seperate jury rooms and find totally different outcomes. WE just need to remember where Blackburn comes from .......... How would she have found in the Manafort case? He was convicted on about half the charges. Should half the investigators, prosecutors be removed?

Another ABA 'not qualified' judge appointed the 9th Circuit Court today by Senate. ** The Senate confirmed President Trump's 50th circuit court nominee on Wednesday despite the pick being rated "not qualified" by the American Bar Association (ABA). Senators voted 51-44 on Lawrence VanDyke's nomination to an appeals judge on the Ninth Circuit. Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) joined Democrats in opposing his nomination. VanDyke grabbed headlines in October when he started crying during his confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee. The emotional moment came when he was asked about concerns that the American Bar Association (ABA) brought forth about his treatment of LGBT people. ** The ABA rated VanDyke, a former solicitor general in both Nevada and Montana, as “not qualified” following an investigation that included interviews with 60 individuals. "Mr. VanDyke’s accomplishments are offset by the assessments of interviewees that Mr. VanDyke is arrogant, lazy, an ideologue, and lacking in knowledge of the day-to- day practice including procedural rules," the group wrote in a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee. "There was a theme that the nominee lacks humility, has an 'entitlement' temperament, does not have an open mind, and does not always have a commitment to being candid and truthful," the ABA standing committee continued, noting that some interviewees "raised concerns about whether Mr. VanDyke would be fair to persons who are gay, lesbian, or otherwise part of the LGBTQ community." ** More at link: thehill.com/blogs/floor-action/senate/474212-senate-confirms-trumps-50th-circuit-judge-despite-not-qualified

Not deep south, not rust belt, but Hershey PA! dt supporters talking possible civil war again .... ** A supporter of President Trump who was at his rally in Hershey, Pa., on Tuesday said in an interview that he thinks the president’s impeachment and removal from office would bring about “the second Civil War.” In footage of the interview, the man, who donned a red, white and blue hat that read “Trump 2020” on the top, said that if Trump was removed from office, he thinks it “would cause physical violence in this country that we haven’t seen since the first Civil War.” “I think it would become the second Civil War,” he continued. ** Another supporter speaking on the matter said that he thinks “there would be a strong,” “very negative,” movement with “possible violence.” “There’ll be a lot of mad Americans. Possibly, 70, 80 thousand — 70, 80 million Americans on the loose, not very happy,” he said. “What we’re seeing is a divided country. Both sides are dug in, no one’s budging.” “We have families torn apart — including my family,” he continued. “My daughters are liberal, I’m conservative. Now that this whole thing has been going on, we just had a problem at Thanksgiving. Very unfortunate.” One man at the rally repeatedly said that he doesn’t believe Trump will be removed in the Senate when approached by a reporter. “He’s not gonna be removed. He’s not gonna be removed. He’s not gonna be removed,” he said, to which an off-screen CBS News reporter responded: “Do you feel confident in that?” “My .357 Magnum is comfortable with that. End of story,” he added. ** thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/474192-trump-supporter-says-his-removal-could-lead-to-the-second-civil

No idea where they crawled out from, but they were far more freaky and frightening than any of his cult I've seen before. They each seemed to be truly mentally disturbed. I think that they're just bragging about this supposed second Civil War if the Senate finds him guilty. People in both parties have weapons and believe in gun rights. Why do they think they're the only ones? Idiots!!!!! Unless the Senators who are already on the take from Trump all sudenly vote their true morals, I highly doubt anything will happen. I still have a sick feeling that the next election is already in the bag, and I pray I'm wrong.

Just exactly what does Hunter Biden’s substance abuse have to do with trump’s impeachment? What does Hunter Biden himself have to do with Trump’s impeachment? Hunter could have done everything they said he did. Trump’s actions were still wrong. But again, the GOP has no facts to actually defend Trump or his actions, so they deflect. And this whole impeachment process makes me so glad we didn’t elect a woman. Can you imagine the overemotional reactions we’d be subjected to? So glad the GOP is here to model the decorum they keep on insisting is missing from politics.

I wanted to jump through the tv and coldcock Gohmert yesterday when he named the whistleblower. While he didn't say 'the whistleblower sos and so.....", he listed the name along with others he wanted as witnesses. The name has been floating out there a while, but most have honored the laws regarding the protection of the whistleblower. When questioned whether he violated the whistleblower protection clauses, Gohmert replied 'You need to do your homework'. Seriously, why is the law the law, unless it is inconvenient for Republicans.
And watching these hearings convinces me that Republicans are barely above pond scum in their behaviors. When did they become so lacking in courtesy and common sense?
And I am tired of the Republicans claiming that trump has done so much for America, so many jobs, the economy, etc... There is no guarantee that the sole responsibility for that success is due to trump. It may have happened naturally as the economy continued to recover from the 2008 recession.
Justifying that trump has done so much for America so he shouldn't be impeached is like justifying that a wealthy man shouldn't be charged with a dui because he gives so much to charity. Absolving one for a crime, because they are basically a good person (not that I am alleging that trump is good person) is not a reason to not charge one with a crime, but is a consideration in sentencing/punishment if/after a conviction.
I think I am a logical person, and listen closely on both sides of this, but I am amazed at the spin and rational of the republicans.
And I miss Ted Lieu during the Judiciary. I thought he seemed unusually subdued during Mondays hearings. I wish him a speedy recovery.

The case for the putin/dt meeting notes will continue, decision by Judge McFadden A federal judge on Wednesday rejected the Trump administration’s attempt to toss out a lawsuit over missing notes documenting President Donald Trump’s face-to-face meetings with President Vladimir Putin of Russia.American Oversight and Democracy Forward, a pair of left-leaning nonpartisan watchdog groups, sued Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, the State Department, the National Archives and Records Administration, and the archivist of the United States in June over the missing notes. The groups charge that Pompeo violated the Federal Records Act by allowing Trump to reportedly confiscate meeting notes prepared by State Department employees and for failing to preserve them. In a ruling from the bench on Wednesday, Judge Trevor McFadden of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia denied the government’s motion to dismiss the case. The order by McFadden, a Trump appointee, means that the lawsuit will be allowed to move forward and gives the government until Jan. 10 to say whether Pompeo complied with federal records law or show why he was not obligated to do so. Pompeo will then have until the middle of March to produce the State Department’s record of evidence. The Washington Post first reported in January that Trump had gone to “extraordinary” lengths to conceal the details of his meetings with Putin, seizing the notes of his interpreter after the leaders’ first meeting in 2017 and ordering the translator not to disclose details of the discussion. Furthermore, The Post reported that no detailed record of Trump’s communications with Putin existed, prompting a flurry of document requests from Congress and outside groups.** www.politico.com/news/2019/12/11/judge-putin-trump-notes-082600
