I had a mammogram this afternoon and they had me stay for an ultrasound of an area near the top of my left breast and into the armpit. The radiologist came in and said there are three areas they're concerned about, one in the breast and two in the lymph nodes. I'm scheduled for a biopsy on January 15 but might be able to get in earlier if they have a cancellation. The radiologist said it might not be cancer, but if they've found something in the lymph nodes, I can't imagine what else it could be. My father currently has lymphoma.
If you have anything remotely positive to say, I need to hear it. I don't know how I am going to be able to wait three weeks to find out if I have breast cancer.

(((HUGS))) I am so sorry you are facing this. It is an AWFULLY long time to wait. Can you have the biopsy any sooner somewhere else?

You live very close to the Dorothy Hoeffer Breast Cancer Center and Virginia Oncology on Jefferson Port Warwick. I have been seen there for 4.5 years since I had a breast biopsy 5 years ago followed by breast surgery. If you are getting your care there you are in very good hands. There are many top notch oncologists in our area if you are getting care at one of the other medical centers.
I will be 5 years out in May and can stop oral chemo then. There has been so much progress made in the treatment of breast cancer that there is every reason to be hopeful and encouraged.

Waiting is awful. I remember that time in my life and how terrible it was.
It may not be cancer but if it is please remember that the treatment is very successful. And you have a lot of support here with so many of us who have been there.

Mystie, you are in my prayers. (((Hugs))).
Enlarged lymph nodes seen on a mammogram can result from a variety of things besides cancer. I will pray that is the case for you.
If, heaven forbid, it is cancer, be prepared for the waiting at various stages that seems to last forever. I think that is one of the hardest things, especially early on. After the biopsy, it may be up to a week before you get the pathology results - it was a long five days for me.

The fact they are letting you wait so long may be a good sign. My DS went in to the Dr to check on something unusual and by the end of the day we were checked into the children's hospital with everyone suspecting cancer. They looked really hard for signs of either leukemia or lymphoma. Luckily, he had neither and his issues were being caused by something else. But when the indicators turn to cancer I really think the Drs move heaven and earth to get the answer as soon as possible.
I hope for you it's just something odd and not cancer of any sort. Think positive thoughts.

I agree that if they were really concerned, they would have gotten you in for a biopsy right away. You’ll be in my thoughts. Please keep us updated.

Praying for a cancellation appointment and good results. I know once my son's lymph nodes were bulging and due to our nephew's cancer we were concerned but it turned out to be nothing. I hope the same for you.

It really stinks you have to wait so long for your biopsy. I'm so sorry. I hope there is a cancellation and that you are able to receive answers more quickly.
We are here for you. I'm sorry you're going through this.

ExDSO found a lump. GP was concerned. Sent me for a diagnostic U/S, Mum had breast and ovarian cancers already. They did the X-rays and there was a lump. I got a sticker on the area of the breast and it was outside. The sonographer said nope nothing is there and called in the radiologist who was a gentleman and said I think I am about to make your day. I was pretty psyched! I have been clear ever since. I have 2 other close family members who had it, too. So I wish you the same easy good news.

I am so sorry you are going through this. The waiting was the hardest part for me. From the time I first felt the lump until I was diagnosed was one month. Those were some of the worst days of my life and unfortunately for me, I did have breast cancer. The odds are in your favor and I am praying that you will have a positive outcome. I would tell you not to worry but I know that's impossible so instead I will just say that I am keeping you in my prayers. We're here for you.

Waiting sucks. I hope there is a cancellation and you can get in sooner. Like others have said, various innocent things can make lymph nodes look questionable. I hope you get good news.

Please keep us updated. I finish my last of 4 chemo treatments next week; I'll be glad to help you with anything I can.

I got a call back following my last mammogram, had to have another mammogram, an ultra sound and a punch biopsy where they take a small amount with no anaesthetic and the doctor was still not confident in the results so I then was admitted to have a surgical biopsy.
Fortunately after about a 10 day wait for the results I was cleared and to date all it well. This was in September 2017.
Wishing you well and while I know it is very stressful waiting, if they should find anything amiss, then it can be treated in its early stages.
Hugs to you.

You must be very worried, but the odds of this being something else are good. If indeed it is breast cancer then just know that treatment has come a long way and woman beat it all the time. Meanwhile, you have a board full of peas to keep you company. I'm praying that a cancellation will open up immediately.
