joblackford, come to the dark side of bread making. I have fallen hard for sourdough making. It’s so relaxing and fun. Also it’s great to have a freezer stocked full.

Does throwing out one’s back count? 🤦🏻♀️ Oh no!! Are you ok? Yes, I’m just old. I hurt it sitting on my couch. Sat crooked, stood up, pain. Muscle relaxers, heat, and rest have it doing better.

Day 2 and Day 3 check in: I've gone ahead and have cleared out clutter in my guest bedroom and have started to remove items from my closet. I'm taking this one slow because I don't want to get overwhelmed and have started to corrall a pile of organization baskets/trays/bins.

For day 3 I got rid of boxes from the store room in the garage. Today I've sorted out and got rid of old socks.

I cleaned out the fridge this morning and got rid of a couple of things. Went through my record collection when I put my Christmas albums away and pulled out 11 records I no longer want. Added a lamp base to my donation pile, and dropped off all the donations while I was out doing the groceries.

Day 3... I cleaned out one of the kitchen cabinets. I threw away (recycled) THREE plastic movie cups. And while I was in there, I got a day ahead of myself and pitched FOUR french onion crocks. They were free ten years ago. They were nice, but they were ceramic and had a handle, so the handle had a little hole in it (I assume to keep it from exploding in the kiln or whatever when they were glazed). So every time I wash them, more water got in the handle. It got a little gross. But they were nice because I could put them under the broiler, which I can't do with my corelle.
But I finally bought some oven/broiler safe ramekins and now I use those to make French Onion soup. And the ones with the handle were a pain to store.

I took a few items to my donation box/trash: the washi tape dispenser that I outgrew long ago the kid’s pink umbrella with the teddy bear handle (we don’t have kids) the cool umbrella that snapped a rib yesterday (can’t be fixed - I tried)

Hello! I'm joining in, my whole house is a dumping ground. Only started the game today so I'm doing some catch-up, but so far have a pile of 32 cookbooks that I want to donate. Cookbooks are my bag and I have hundreds of the things, and one day I'll have a big farmhouse kitchen with room for a cookbook library, but at the moment, there is no space and I've not even opened these particular books in years so out they go. I also decluttered my inbox which feels so nice!

Ive been playing along. Wednesday I started going through all the holiday bins except Christmas and threw out 3 large trash bags and 2 boxes to donate. I teach preschool so there was a lot of stuff to go through. DH finally took 3 old chairs and some parts to an old table out to the trash yesterday morning. So far today I managed to purge an 8inch stack of paper from my work files which have been covering my scrap room floor for way too long. Also uncovered several way overdue library books. Back to work and real life on Monday so we’ll see if i can keep it up.

Day 3/4 - cleaning out my Dad’s stuff. He passed away in September. I pulled out all his sheets and towels to donate to the local animal shelter. All his underwear went into a clothing recycle box we have here in town.

Day 3 - Sort of a cheat day. I shredded 29 papers from my office. I was going to count that only as 1 thing, but the day got away from me so I called that good enough and goal met.
Day 4 the junk drawer in the kitchen. I lost count of the crap I threw out from that thing. Way more than 28. Some of it belongs to DS and I have that set aside for him, the rest of it was well - junk lol. Tomorrow I'm moving to my craft supplies.

Day 4 check in: I've continued the Christmas decoration clean-out and met my goal for today! Woohoo! I'm so inspired to keep going, what a great challenge.
Added to this is the fact that my parents have decided to sell their home and they are starting to think about how they are going to downsize, so this is really coming at a good time for me.

Another car getting donated away in the morning. I’m finding it easier to just have a big box and shopping bag by the the front door. When I see something and I wondering why I’m keeping it, I drop it in the box or bag.

I’m finding it easier to just have a big box and shopping bag by the the front door. When I see something and I wondering why I’m keeping it, I drop it in the box or bag. I normally do that with a bag in the bottom of my wardrobe. When the bag is full, I donate it. It's helped me actually get rid of stuff regularly.

Day 5 I’m donating clothes hangers to the op shop, along with a running jacket I no longer need. Just itching to get started in the garage but will be spring cleaning my bedroom on Monday and the guest room Tuesday so will make a start there.

Funny how I *missed* this thread until just today. I did a big whole house clean out about 5 years ago after reading Magical Art of Tidying Up. Amazing how much stuff has creeped back in everywhere again. This is also a good reminder to stop buying so much stuff. Online shopping and 2 day shipping makes it so easy for things to just magically show up at my doorstep.
I like the idea of aiming for 465 things, especially since starting late. I have 3 boxes of stuff to donate that have been sitting in my kitchen since before Thanksgiving (hangs head in shame), so I think I'll start by dropping those off today.

Another 5 items gone from my bathroom closet today! Goodbye half bottle of shampoo that I did not really like but was saving "in case". Goodbye old pill bottles that I may need to repurpose to make my own foot cream in, (never going to happen)

I confess to falling off the wagon already but in my defense I wasn't home Friday or yesterday and I'll be out a good part of today.
Hopefully I can start on my kitchen tomorrow. There's 6 pie plates sitting on a shelf and I don't remember the last time I baked a pie. Needless to say all but 1 or 2 of those of going.

I had a slow weekend but I did get rid of
Old play dough (millions of lbs) and some play dough toys Papers at bottom of closet Scrapbook paper Empty shampoo bottle sitting in bathroom Puzzle with missing pieces Lol doll container
Also my husband has been watching me and working on getting rid of stuff. He actually did the play dough. My uncle gives us a supply if it every year and we replace the gross stuff.

I had been feeling like I decluttered regularly, but I’m realizing that I’ve been pretty lazy about it lately. Good old clutter blindness. I’ve been overlooking a lot of stuff that I just don’t care about any more.
This weekend’s pile: -the kazoo that I kept for a specific parade so I wouldn’t need to get a disposable one in future years, but no need for it now, -the sweater that I just don’t love even though I really should (I only have 3 proper winter pullover sweaters, now 2, so will try to thrift a replacement) -did I already claim the Love Actually Blu-ray we can’t play any more? Maybe. -a hobonichi journal cover to sell or give away. -Coffee filters I thought I needed for heat embossing - I kept a few but I reuse them many times and don’t find them the best solution anyway -And a magazine we’d finished reading that went to the Little Free Library on our street

Today was the scrap space. This area is going to be hard, but I purged about 6 inches of 8.5x11 cardstock that I've had for years. Way more than the 27 things to get out for today. I'll be donating that to a creative reuse/thrift store in my area.
What I've noticed that's really bugging me lately is having to move/unstack things to get to what I want. I can see this becoming a year long project as I clear out things I don't need or love.
