Very late to the party but starting on day 10 is better than not starting at all, right? I'm right there with you. I've been following along, but not posting. Last night I purged 37 books from my daughter's room. She's almost 7 and most of the books were board/baby books and simple early readers that can be used by someone else.

I was thinking about tackling my kids books this weekend too. We should get rid of our board books. My best friend's son just had a baby so I knew exactly where to send them.

I guess a big ticket item will be leaving Booty's home before the end of the month because guess who just found their affordable dream "to read books on" sofa on sale at IKEA? *double thumb-points at self* 1/3 of the original retail price, baby. Oh yeah! Almost bought this one full price twice last year. The furniture gods have been kind. I am not worthy. This challenge is a blessing in my life right now!

I tackled the fridge and freezer. Tossed at least 10 condiment jars/bottles. Good for you! This also serves as a reminder that I need to tackle my condiment + spice jars. And tea pile! Today I delivered the 88 things I have collected from my craft room since January 1 plus the 6 other boxes of crafty supplies gathered prior to the first of the year. They all went to the humane society thrift store and the volunteer accepting them said they would sell fast. Out of my house, money for the animal shelter. Congratulations on your amazing efforts, freeatlast ! I love that you have such specific thrift stores in you area that can benefit a great cause. What a lovely way to start the year. - box of chocolates - bag of sweets Are you ok, anniefb ? Just checking because SWEETS and CHOCOLATES! Out of the house? There's my ten for today. Will start on my 11 for tomorrow later if I can. Welcome aboard, guzismom . It's never too late to get started. Kudos to you for finding 10 items straight out of the starting blocks! Last night I purged 37 books from my daughter's room. She's almost 7 and most of the books were board/baby books and simple early readers that can be used by someone else. Very impressive, auntmimi ! Life marches on, we all evolve, what was an ideal fit a few years ago isn't necessarily one today. Great that you're recognising this and are ready to make space for new books, new challenges for your daughter. Maybe she's ready for some local library trips and managing her own little "read and return" book shelf in the near future?

My tidying today was very small, but even small victories are worth celebrating, right? I have a stash of 3M command hooks and felt pads and furniture slider pads - the kind of small stuff that comes in plastic packages attached to a piece of cardboard that hang from hooks in the store. The packaging is not very helpful once you bring it home - there's no good way to re-close the plastic bit once you take a hook out, the cardboard gets bent, etc. So I un-packaged almost all of the things and I'm going to find a storage container to sort all the little things into. In the process I also found a sawtooth hanger for a picture frame so I got a shadowbox with my grandparents' carvings/slice of dinosaur fossil bone/pendants onto the Great Wall o' Ancestors in my living room. I had taken down the shadowbox and some photos from a different wall to give us some visual breathing space. While I was looking up in the living room I also noticed the ceiling, so I decluttered the derelict homes of many spiders from the high places. small victories. I'm working up the courage to let go of 4 years of paint chip calendars. They're so pretty, but I get one every year. I haven't thought of a good crafty re-use project in 4 years, so I should recycle them.

While I was looking up in the living room I also noticed the ceiling, so I decluttered the derelict homes of many spiders from the high places. This made me laugh! Great find on the sofa sleepingbooty, there's nothing quite like the thrill of finding something you've been dreaming of at a greatly discounted price! I've had a few busy days and haven't cleaned up much but this morning I got rid of the pile of receipts we were saving in case Christmas gifts were the wrong size or needed to be returned. I also put away the contents of a bag of stuff I'm embarrassed to say has been hanging on the door of my home office since March. I also pulled out my old camera and have taken some photos to list it online and will donate it if it doesn't sell in the month the listing will be live.

A little bit more from me for today: an excess of packaging materials I've been saving in case I need it, two accessories to a vacuum cleaner that is long gone (not even sure why we still had them), and a broken light fitting.
I really need to work out how to get DH to part with some things because we have some bigger items that he hasn't used in the time we've lived together that I'd love to get out of the house.

Day 10 was the first dive into DVDs and BRs. It was surprisingly easy to find 10 to put in the donate box. Harry Potter took up 7 spots on its own. Day 11 is mostly dedicated to my SO's wardrobe. He's currently going through his clothes. It looks like he already has a few T-shirts and a sweater pulled aside. I'll see later in the day if there's a need to supplement to reach 11 items. Ah, delegating housework, my fave.

Trying to eat healthier and I have sooo many sweet things left from Christmas decided it was time to downsize a bit! Great idea, anniefb. I feel like we've received less food items over Christmas than usual this year, much to my chagrin. I think we only got home with a box of fancy chocolates and some wine, that's it. Maybe it's for the best. Mardi gras/ Shrove Tuesday is coming up in a few weeks, after all... Day 11 here down under. Pulled out the underbed storage box in the guest room and sorted out 11 pieces of clothing to donate, once they've been washed. Thank you for inspiring us! Your Day 11 was copied + pasted over here where my SO is going through his clothes at the moment. My tidying today was very small, but even small victories are worth celebrating, right? The small stuff is *so* worth celebrating, joblackford. It's the stuff that requires most willpower and focus to get through because it just doesn't seem worth it. But oh my, how our lives and homes are filled with it! In the process I also found a sawtooth hanger for a picture frame so I got a shadowbox with my grandparents' carvings/slice of dinosaur fossil bone/pendants onto the Great Wall o' Ancestors in my living room. Now that's cool! The shadow box, the dinosaur fossils, the "Great Wall O' Ancestors", the putting something back up that deserves to be seen and remembered. I love this story. Great find on the sofa sleepingbooty, there's nothing quite like the thrill of finding something you've been dreaming of at a greatly discounted price! I still can't believe my luck. When I woke up this morning, I was already blabbing about it in bed. "It's an oak tree structure, OAK!" I also put away the contents of a bag of stuff I'm embarrassed to say has been hanging on the door of my home office since March. Ghost Bag, forever companion forgotten in plain sight, quietly haunting everyday life... If it's any consolation, I recently happened upon a bag filled with bags. That's more embarrassing! I really need to work out how to get DH to part with some things because we have some bigger items that he hasn't used in the time we've lived together that I'd love to get out of the house. The path to minimalism is paved with good intentions and reluctant (non) participants! Crossing my fingers that you can get him onboard and going. There isn't much you can do: show the way, be a good example and hope for the best. Sending good vibes your way for DH and the camera!

I was sick today and yesterday but today I decluttered 2 purses and a canvas bag. I’m trying to get to more spaces to organize and declutter. Today I tackled the stairs and all the clutter that was on the coat rack making it impossible to store coats there.

I finally packed up Christmas this morning and like others took the opportunity to go through the things that didn't make it out of the boxes this year. I found several things which are now in the donate pile, and one poor solar reindeer with broken wiring to his head (who therefore lights up as a headless reindeer) has gone into the bin.

Tonight I had a big glass of peach Snapple (my very favorite drink) after dinner and listened to Blown Away (show on Netflix) and plowed through over 300 things that are getting sold off (consignment store that takes art supplies) donated to a local non profit or tossed out. Going to load up my car in the morning to drop everything off! I even went through a big plastic tub of paper scraps I kept when I finished a card, thinking I would use it up. It was time to throw it all in the recycle bins. If you’ve made progress in your decluttering and would like a handmade card as a reward send me your mailing address - hope this is allowed. I think we all need a little reward sometimes.

Mine has not caught any cleaning bug (but then again...not sure he has even had this type of sickness). Lol. I have been doing this slowly for about 1.5 years. If he doesn’t do it he knows I will eventually ask him if he still wants things. We currently have an ongoing feud about a meat tenderizer that I want to discard but he thinks we must keep. This week I was thinking about just throwing it out. He would be so pissed but he hasn’t touched it in a year.

My eleven things from yesterday (1/11) were taken from random drawers in my kitchen; things like a mini whisk, a decorative tea strainer, expired or abandoned herbal supplements.
Today I think I will attack my medicine bin to start.
ETA: Instead, I went to a drawer that housed things like bugs spray, sunscreen, and anti-itch cream and discarded practically everything from it as they were all expired. So 1/12 is taken care of as well.

I missed a few days now that winter break is over and it’s back to work. I’m just shooting for the 465 total since most of my decluttering has to happen on weekends. Yesterday two boxes with about 50 books went to the library for their book sale. I also managed to put another 6 inches of paperwork in the recycle bin. Cleaned the food cupboards and refrigerator out yesterday and threw out 22 items. Today I’m working in my scrap room/office so we’ll see how well that goes. All that paper is just so pretty but I know I’m never going to use it all. My goal is to lessen my stash by 2 inches.

I did some extra decluttering yesterday which will be leaving the house today - giving 4 directors chairs to my neighbour's daughter and son in law who just bought their first house. Also sorted out 6 coasters and a new tea towel and pot holder to go to the op shop and threw away an old bra.

Good boy! I found several things which are now in the donate pile, and one poor solar reindeer with broken wiring to his head (who therefore lights up as a headless reindeer) has gone into the bin. That sounded like a very Jack Skellinton-esque decoration. Tonight I had a big glass of peach Snapple (my very favorite drink) after dinner and listened to Blown Away (show on Netflix) and plowed through over 300 things that are getting sold off (consignment store that takes art supplies) donated to a local non profit or tossed out. Kudos to you! That sounds like a great way of getting in the mood for some cleaning. *lifts glass of Sunday night wine* Cheers, flatfish. Congrats on getting so many things out of the house. Super impressive! My eleven things from yesterday (1/11) were taken from random drawers in my kitchen; things like a mini whisk, a decorative tea strainer, expired or abandoned herbal supplements. Ah, the neverending rabbit hole of random sh*t, I feel ya. I need to check for expired medication and supplements as well, come to think of it. *makes mental note* Yesterday two boxes with about 50 books went to the library for their book sale. I also managed to put another 6 inches of paperwork in the recycle bin. Cleaned the food cupboards and refrigerator out yesterday and threw out 22 items. So many books and so much paperwork, natscraps! What a productive day you've had. Congrats on tackling this challenge with so much energy and focus. giving 4 directors chairs to my neighbour's daughter and son in law who just bought their first house. Also sorted out 6 coasters and a new tea towel and pot holder to go to the op shop and threw away an old bra. What an awesome and thoughtful gift for your neighbour's daughter and son-in-law. I had to giggle at getting rid of an old bra. It's like parting with an old friend, isn't it? You "work" on them until they get comfy. And ultimately, at some point, you have to admit they've gone from comfy to nope-not-a-good-idea-anymore...

Day 12: I worked on small stuff that I've been meaning to give/take to work. In the bag for work: 2 boxes of Pukka tea, 1 pair of earrings I like to wear when I want to feel a little more dressed up and professional but keep forgetting to bring when meeting clients, 1 rubbery coaster for the desk because I keep having near-spills with the metal one I'm currently using, 1 pack of sanitary pads, 1 Rhodia notebook, 1 box of soft Kleenex tissues for my delicate nose. In the bag for friends + fam: 1 more box of Pukka tea, half a bottle of perfume I just never loved enough to finish, 2 bottles of nail polish, 1 alarm clock.

Today’s progress was kind of a wash. A few boxes of stuff came into the house from our storage unit, but they are all things that have a home waiting for them (like all my scrapping embellishments that I’ve had to live without for the past 2 years). But I found two boxes in the unit actually marked “Scraproom- Get Rid Of” Took them straight to goodwill without even opening them.

I didn’t have time to go through anything physical today but I deleted a couple of hundred photos off my poor full phone. I’m also working on deleting apps. I think I offloaded one (put it in the cloud) and deleted one, and I figured out how to get my old diary entries off another one, exported as plain text so I can hopefully copy it into my current digital journal. Once I confirm that it has worked I’ll delete the app.
My dictate the paper journals project is coming along well. I’ve dictated a little every day this month, although I haven’t had the courage to actually shred the journals themselves yet! I’ve finished two, both homemade of scrap paper, so they don’t feel precious.

I downloaded and deleted over 800 photos off of my phone this weekend, so that has to make me golden for the rest of the month, right? LOL
I also went through three garbage bags of hand-me-down clothes for my daughter, sorting and donating what doesn't work from what will. I took the remainder, along with two other huge bags of items I collected over the holidays, to Goodwill yesterday.

Life has been happening the past few days and I've fallen behind. I'm going to jump right back in tomorrow. I've gotten rid of a lot of random things. Rearranged a couple kitchen cupboards to make things more accessible. Since I started out working from 31 things back, I'm going to just go forward tomorrow with the actual number of the day. I will still come out ahead that way lol.
