Do we have an active thread for no- and low-spend chit chat? I couldn’t see one. LMK if there’s somewhere else! It’s already halfway through January so most resolutions are in the rear view mirror but I know other people are trying to spend less and create more!
I keep putting something in a shopping cart and then thinking I should add a few more things to make the shipping cost worthwhile, then I see the total (and the number of new things that I’ll have to find time to use and space to store) and decide not to buy anything at all. I bought some stamps and dies over the holidays that I haven’t even opened yet, so there’s no way I should be buying more. And I’m trying not to buy any storage supplies until I use up some of the things I have to store (but that’s harder because my storage isn’t working so well right now. I might give in on one item...
How are you other chilly Peas doing?

I was just thinking about this today and wondering if there was a current thread, so you have perfect timing.
I'm not officially frozen or chilling but I am trying to watch what I purchase and use up stuff because my stuff exceeds my storage. I have some areas I really want to focus on this year: PL cards, and the "random" images that come in die cut packs or on sticker sheets. I keep these in a little container on my desk so I can remember to look through it often and it is bursting at the seams right now. I've decided to do a weekly PL style album which should help with both of these.

Waving from over here! I have been doing well making my own s/book kits, so feel like I am under control there. No desire to shop as I have kits ready to go. Now if my kids would let me get some more photos..... My card supplies I am trying to work through too. I am a "minimal stash" crafter, so truing to really dig deep and use what is here, rather than order more. This is not quite so easy as I do a lot more card making now.

Thanks for starting a thread. I started chilling in October. Then I spent way too much for Black Friday. I’m happy to say that since December I haven’t bought. There are a couple things I have thought about getting but I have stayed strong. I’m really trying to do no buy.
I have joined the freeze gang group that Moira Oreilly has started. It’s been great motivation and accountability. I also love that they take this challenge week by week. Every Friday I try to watch their videos and then stop and reflect on what I have done that week and what I want to do next. I have so far made 7 pages this year which is pretty good for me. I also made about 5 smaller kits from my stash that I’m rotating through for at least January and maybe February. I’m trying to keep my kits small so that I can see myself using it up.
This month I also dig deep in my stash and decided to use my Nuvo Guilding flakes in my kits in hopes to actually decide to either keep or get rid of them. So far I’m really loving them. I have some Ranger things I may select next month. Each month I want to pick something “weird” out of my stash to play with. I’m also selecting stamps each month to use with my kits.
So far I’m super pleased with how I’m doing on this freeze.

I have mostly been successful in my ‘chilling’. I have a goal to use up 3 papers for every one I want to buy ( not including 8 1/2 white cardstock ) and I’m 1/2 way to the number used to be able to buy the new papers I want. I made a preorder basket but then I didn’t check out. I’m going to message my local store to see if she is getting it.
I spent my tool allowance on 1/1. The only thing I bought above that is adhesive & the pack of Heidi Swapp shine. I didn’t really have a category that fits in that I set a limit so I figured I’m ok. Ha ha
But I have been making more cards to use up those papers

I am still a little chilled. Not only scrapping stuff, but everything this month. i did spend $20 at scrapbook generations and had a nice big box delivered from shopping their Monday sales the last 6 months. Plenty of new and old things to use!

I am still frozen, except for my Hip Kit club and replacing necessities. I bought 2 new black pens this week after opening my last one.

It's 40Freaking degrees in my craft room, so yes I'm frozen! In all seriousness, though...The only product I purchased was two stamp sets to use in one of the online classes I signed up for but never completed. I didn't have anything similar enough in my stash so I just bought the correct ones, for at total of $24-ish (on sale!). I did borrow one set from a crafty friend, and I may purchase it later. I did buy some tape runner and foam squares, but for me that doesn't count.

Joining the gang just on THE DAY I spent on SB supplies. *hangs head in shame but not really* France has an official winter and summer sales period when shops can discount non-food items as much as they want over the course of 4 (used to be 6) weeks. This is regulated by the government, yadda yadda. Basically, we all wait for these two big yearly sales with a list of things we want to buy if the price is marked down. It's not like in the USA where there are coupons, stacked coupons (UGH, I hate you all! ) and sales left and right all the time. Oh no. I had marked down some SB pattern papers, a few ephemera packs, chipboard sets and puffy alpha Thickers. I waited until the sales began earlier this month. The markdown wasn't enough. I religiously checked the shop that still had everything I wanted in stock every couple of days to see if they would mark it further down. And then, this morning, the winter sale miracle happened: all the stuff I was watching went down another 10% + free shipping. Heaven! I got it for 50% off. So happy! It coordinates, it's exactly what I wanted (right down to the white Pinkfresh Just a Little Lovely alphas) and what was on the list. Big yay! 25-ish euros for all that, I'm very content with that price tag. The big question is: will I make it work for my year-long project? That's a whole other issue in itself. But I'm done scrappy spending besides photos likely until the summer sales. Somebody be my accountability buddy, please!

I’m still frozen but I also haven’t done any scrapbooking or card making this year either. Maybe later, I’ll start page planning for the crop I’m going to next month. I looked though some of the new releases from creativation luckily nothing caught my eye at all except the Heidi Swapp minc stamping foil kit. Please note, I don’t stamp too often nor do I use my minc as much as I could.

Yesterday I ordered some Elle Studio puffy stickers and some alphas. I cleaned my studio today though and I really don't need anything else for ages. I need to get in the freezer for a bit or at least chill out in the fridge.

Today I placed an order for some storage boxes to hold my paper, and a binder and pocket pages to hold die cuts. The binder I have is coming apart. It was repurposed from way back when I made ATCs about 10+ years ago, so I don’t feel bad about replacing it. And I can’t tidy my die cuts up because I have run out of pockets for them. I’m hoping that these purchases will prevent me from needing to buy new furniture. I’m trying to make the Costco-Raskog I have work better. So that’s my confession to you all

I’m chilling at the moment. I have plenty of SB kits left and am not really tempted by SB stuff at all but like kiwikate am doing more card making and find stamps and dies very tempting However, I still have sets that haven’t been inked and need to use those first. Having just decluttered a heap of things I’m also trying to be more thoughtful about my purchases. Then there are the roof repairs I need to pay for this month - ugh. So trying to be good for now.

I'm frozen solid. I wanted to buy enough glue and white cardstock for the entire year back in December, but I didn't. Now I'm trying to go as far as I can with what I have. I'm kind of excited about that.

Me yesterday: "I need to get in the freezer."
Me this morning drinking coffee and watching the Creativation videos: "Oooh must buy the new alcohol ink colors. Those sprays from Dina Weakly look really neat. Probably need to get a couple of those too."

I am doing really well. I haven't bought anything except the albums I had intended to buy and a couple sticker packs for specific projects. There are a couple lines at creativation that have caught my eye, but the one I'm most interested in isn't going to be released until June. So I'm probably going to stay frozen/chilled until then.

But I do have a paper order in the back of my mind that includes some Shimelle and a few other new AC papers. But I’m not going to buy until I have the project planned out pretty specifically. Those color mediums are dangerous to me! I only have some of the distress oxides, trying not to start collecting sprays or alcohol inks. Collecting color is a big weakness of mine. I don’t necessarily use them, I just like to have them.

I'm taking notes for next year--if the collections I like are on sale then, great. If they're sold out, there will always be Creativation 2021. 😉

I haven't bought anything yet this year. The new green album from Citrus Twist is tempting me. For my year book last year I got January and some of February done. 12x12 digital using Cathy Zielski's templates. Shannon Pages 8x10 templates look so good. I am considering a change. www.shannanpages.com/product-page/guided-year-long-album-setMy husband likes the few simple pages I made last year. He says I am overthinking everything because I want to live up to my Mom's standard. Grief and guilt are difficult to be practical about.

I consider myself refrigerated this year. Still allowed to buy, just trying to not go hog wild.😁
This month I bought a pack of 8.5x11" white cardstock.
And six packs of enamel dots.
No regrets.😁

Waving to all. I am trying to be refrigerated, like bottom drawer. I can still buy minimally, and I want to be really selective about what I do buy. Thus far, I have put digital kits in various carts each week and only once did I actually buy anything. This is Really good for me. I did however make it to Tuesday Morning and purchased 2 stamp sets with dies and 2 chipboard ephemera sheets for like $15, so I'm good with that. Since this is a new to us house, I also bought a Phive light (recommended by a pea) and a sit/stand rolling computer desk. I give the kids cash for their Amazon gift cards that they get. So both of those items were bought with the GC. Still waiting on the desk, but the light is awesome!
I think I should be good through March at least, if I can stay away from the digital kits.

I'm on a deep freeze too. Trying to use what I have. This is a great group to keep my resolve going for the rest of the year. I am only allowing myself to buy basics and essentials like adhesive, page protectors, pens, etc. UNLESS its something that is on Super Sale 40% off or more. Is that cheating?

I was chilly most of last year. Cancelled my few subscriptions, and I just didn't buy much other than necessities. I just don't need ANYTHING else. I am currently moving my studio, and it's making me realize even more how I need nothing. So, I will remain chilled this year just because I need to use what I have. Why spend the money and let it sit there? Nope, going to use it. I haven't even looked at the Creativation videos. No need.

I'm going on a mini freeze for the next few months.
I have pre-orders waiting to be filled at ACOT, one of which I placed in November that's still waiting on one sheet of paper, LOL. I order in conjunction with gift giving occasions, so November was my birthday gift, December was Hanukkah, I'm calling my Creativation pre-order Valentine's Day, so I'm going to have to wait a bit until I can get myself a little something for Mother's Day. And then nothing all summer long.
(Unless JoAnn's gets new AC goodies for cheap. Then, I'll make a small exception.)

I am trying to stay frozen until the Expo which is end of August for me. Generally I make a list on my Notes app of collections I like or things I need for pages/stories. If I can't find it there, I then add it to my scrapbook.com shopping cart.
Looking back, I tend to actually do ok for this time period. It's the end of the year with holidays sales and such that I splurge a little. But I also have so many things I've owned for maybe a year or more and haven't used yet!
I have a handful of crops this year, so I am planning for them. I don't think I even need any essentials, I'm well stocked.
I do need to do some reorganization, but I am pretty sure I can do it without any purchases. And honestly, it's not something I spend too much time on anymore bcz of limited time to create, I have to use my time more wisely!
I am still getting the Scrapbook & Cards sampler kit for a couple more months and probably will not renew. I like it and getting tidbits of new collections, but just don't really need it! It was the only subscription I ever tried, and while I like it, I am good just buying what I want for specific purposes or bcz I like it!
I think I can do this.....
