... bitch session? Please join me.
Bitch session #1:
Dd#1 had a follow up with pediatric neurology on Monday. They changed her meds a little - upped her daily preventative and she's trying something new for rescue meds. They called the scripts into our local pharmacy Monday late afternoon. I figured I'd pick them up at some point yesterday. When I pick both dd's up from school yesterday, dd#1 tells me that dd#2 had a migraine... and dd#2, kind of laughs and blows it off. I ask if she has a headache and she said yes. I asked if she went down to get her rescue meds. She said no because she knew that they changed and she couldn't remember exactly what she was supposed to take. Are you f*&<*#$ kidding me?? Her migraines last for 10+ days and she knows this. But instead of going to the nurse and asking the nurse to call me for the change in meds, she did NOTHING. She went 4+ hours without any meds. I was so beyond pissed I couldn't even talk to her right away. Later I told her that if she couldn't be responsible about this, then we're going to have a serious problem. I said way more than that but that's what it boiled down to.
Bitch session #2:
Same dd has a broken foot. Her bone is broken in the worst possible spot - low blood flow to that specific spot in the bone = doesn't heal well. She's been in a walking boot but 100% non weight bearing for 6 weeks. Today was her check up. He said she did great not putting weight on it - he can tell because her bone density is now shit in that foot. Low bone density means there hasn't been much healing. With side by side xrays from 6 weeks ago to today, not a bit of new bone regrowth. *sigh* Definitely not what I wanted to hear. Another 6 weeks with the boot and crutches but she can bear 50% weight. He hopes that the partial weight bearing will increase the bone density and the new bone growth will be stimulated. In 6 weeks, another cray and then determine next step. He suggested a bone stimulator but I think I'll push for surgery at that point. That would put her at 12 weeks post break and there's no guarantee the bone stimulator would even work. This girl is active and plays soccer and this will be the second time in 3 years that she's had an injury that's kept her out of the game. We just want it fixed so she can get back to being mobile again. Crutches means another freaking 6 weeks of everyone waiting on her hand and foot. Everyone is tired of that part. She hates being dependent on everyone, and everyone is tired of having to tend to her.
So there you have it. Ugh!!!!

I am so sorry brandy327 . Being a parent of teenagers is not for the faint of heart. My ODS has Raw fruit and vegetable allergies. Yet he refuses to carry his epi pen with him. Even when traveling to foreign countries. He says that he will just avoid raw fruit and vegetables. When he went to Germany he didn’t know a lick of German. He loved the food but really didn’t know what he was eating. Can you see my huge eye roll from here.

We just want it fixed so she can get back to being mobile again. Crutches means another freaking 6 weeks of everyone waiting on her hand and foot. Is there any possibility that her meds are interfering with the calcium getting to the bones? Sure wish she was having an easier time of it! It is tough being a kid with medical issues! Do you have room at home for her to use a knee scooter, or even at school?

So that's why they did a blood draw. Hopefully we'll get those results within a day or so.

But the one he had expired and hasn't bothered to refill it. When he checked into it last was when the price was like $500. He refused to pay it. Thankfully he's pretty peculiar about what he eats and keeps his distance from any nuts.

brandy327 I had a bone stimulator for my radial arm fracture. It had been 10 weeks post surgery and wasn’t healing well. I was skeptical but it worked really well. Just had to wear it every day for 20 mins For 4 weeks I believe. If insurance covers it you should try it. It was way better than surgery. Most of the time I just sat and messed around on the net while it was on.

Luckily his teacher and the host family knew about his allergies. He just came home from a marine biologist and humanitarian trip to Jamaica. He is soon to be 18. Maybe it’s not a teen thing but a guy thing? Yeah, thanks to him my relationship with the Lord has gotten much stronger because I spend a lot of my time praying.

Ask your dd's doctor about it. It speeds up healing and it's so easy to use.

Yeah, he said in 6 weeks it would be one of 3 things - nothing because it's healing fine which is highly unlikely, bone stimulator, or surgery. I'm not convinced the bone stimulator would work. In 6 weeks of non weight bearing, there has been absolutely no bone regrowth. The only change in the bones in her foot when compared side by side is that the bone density is lower, which is how he could tell that she followed his instructions. I'm not sure if I want to give the bone stimulator the 4-6 weeks when if we did surgery we know it would be fixed. I guess it would depend on if it's a straightforward plate and screws fix vs bone graft. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

No risk of infection either. I’d be more apt to at least try it. Probably cheaper too. Plus no opioids. Maybe she can try it sooner than 6 weeks.

I got my hair cut and needed some groceries. I forgot my bank card because I left it in my pocket after getting gasoline last night. My hairdresser is BIL’s cousin and was understanding and was friends with my sister. I had two more stops to make. Dumbass!!!

My DD works for fed ex she fell last Monday on their loading ramp because of ice and broke her elbow. Shes 19. Her manager saw her fall, asked if she was ok. She told him her arm hurt. He did nothing. No report or anything. She came home and her arm was still hurting, by morning she couldn't bend, straighter or rotate her wrist. I knew it was broke. She finally got ahold of him and that was only because she called his manager and HR. He sent her to an occupational health and they xrayed it confirming it was broke. The dr told her she would need to see an orthopedic surgeon. The damn dr sent her back to work on restrictions. She literally can not use that arm She works at fed ex. it requires heavy lifting with BOTH arms. So she goes to work and stands there every night. Its been 8 days and we still have not heard from anyone about a referral to the orthopedic surgeon. I'm irritated, she's irritated. she's in school full time and trying to make calls to her HR and of course her manager is gone for this week. Its a mess and I feel like strangling someone

Although, once I got my DR & could schedule my own follow up appts it was MUCH better. I hope your DD gets they the red tape soon. Weird that the company allowed her back, when the Dr sent me back on ‘modified duty’, I wasn’t even allowed to go back at all because of liability.

DH is being as ass. He got into some stupid argument with DD (15) on Saturday which "ruined the entire weekend," and it's my responsibility as his wife to make it up to him somehow which he brings up at 9pm on Sunday night. First, I didn't get into an argument with DD (I walked out of the room, which is another issue we're having), second my weekend was just fine, and third he thinks every weekend "sucks" because he has to work on Monday. I'm tired of the glass half empty all.the.time.
Anyway, this morning at 6 am, I had just gotten up and hadn't had my coffee yet, and he's asking how I'm going to make sure he has a great day. I told him it's not my job and maybe he should find a new employer. As predicted that didn't go over very well...
It's January, the Monday of the year and yes I'm feeling a little bitchy...

If you are considering surgery, ask dr about the risk of the screw or plate needing to be removed. Also if she will be able to get back to 100% of her activities. I’ve known a few people with foot breaks who had to go back and have their hardware removed because it broke, started backing out, or caused them more pain. What may be one surgery could easily become two. With her playing soccer this could definitely be an issue. FWIW I had hardware and several bone grafts with mine. I was also supplementing with a calcium and mineral supplement and vitamin d and PT 3x week for 14 weeks. It’s still healing despite me and the surgeon doing everything in our power. 2.5 years later and although I got full range of motion back, I still can’t push up on it because the bone is still weak. It’s slowly gotten better than before but I’m still limited in somethings despite the bone healing to the point where the break is no longer visible on X-ray. I broke both arms and the one without hardware is 100% perfect. I’m convinced the hardware is one reason I’m still limited in my left.

I am really sorry your daughter is struggling right now. I hope things turn around for her (and you!).
My bitchy vent? DH and I go on vacay in less than two weeks. My hip is killing me and nothing I am doing is making it better and now I feel like I am coming down with the flu or some other 'your body aches and you feel like shit' illness. Im not actually running fever, but my eyes feel like it and I freaking ache. No sore throat. No upset stomach. Just a hip that makes it hard to walk and aches everywhere else.

Workman's comp varies by states, but in most cases, the less reported (to the state comp board)injuries, save money on the employers comp insurance. Also, by having her report to work they can 'reduce' the seriousness of the injury. Personally, I would be very aggressive about this matter, even if it involves contacting an attorney to make a few phone calls.

It was Jan 13th. She saw the occupational health dr on the 14th. I’m taking the morning off work and we’re making calls. I’ll have her call on speaker phone so I can listen and guide her questions. She’s such an introvert, but I said you’re gonna have to get mean when it comes to this issue. I’ll do what I can but you’re 19 and they “fed ex” are not gonna tell me anything. I’ll go with her when she gets in to the orthopedic surgeon

See if you are eligible for an Epipen discount coupon. I've used this a few times with no problem. Epipen CoupoI have found that almost all of the really expensive drugs have some sort of a coupon available on their company website. My gripe is that my oldest is getting ready to move out on his own and he needs to just launch his ass right now because his attitude sucks. And he can take my youngest with him because she is in a phase that made her terrible twos look like a Christmas party. Now that the holidays are over and the snow has been piling up, everyone is getting on each other's nerves and there isn't enough alcohol to make me like any of them very much. Also the dryer ate my favorite shirt today and I am super pissed about that. Is this year over yet?

I am sick of driving my MIL to all her appointments. DH's brother's wife helps some.
It looks like she may have to start dialysis next week. If so, there is going to be a come to Jesus meeting with the brother. I will not be driving her 3x week for dialysis. She's 88 and frail, so I don't think Metro Mobility is an option for her.
Last week I drove her to church and 3 appointments.
