IF you read my thread about all the issues right now, I think I just got the straw that broke the camels back. Throw me the best suggestions you can on this.
His IgE was near 4,000
His allergies are: walnuts Peanuts Cod fish beef salmon tuna shrimp (should I avoid all shellfish even though he didn't react to crab-lobster but never had it before) eggs including whites whole milk (so all cheese, butter, ice cream, yogurt out) Oats Wheat Soy YEAST Kidney beans (falls in legume like peanuts) buckwheat Carrots Corn Mushrooms green peppers Tomatoes (should I avoid all night shades since peppers come positive and in the family? no others were tested) Mustard (should I avoid all Cruciferae veggies since none of it's relitive veggies were tested?)
I figure for "bread" I can do rice, tapioca and bean flours and use baking powder and soda as leavening. flax seed for egg sub in baking almond milk rice crisps and coco pebbles (has palm oil)
pretty much all processed foods are out as they contain some kind of soy.
What is a butter sub that can be used that avoids soy yeast and cashews (my oldest who visits every weekend needs an Episode pen for Cashew allergy)
I read you should avoid all fermented foods due to the yeast.

In sorry your family is in such turmoil.
I have no advice as I have no experience with food allergies other than coconut.

I'm trying to think positive, the whole family will be doing this with him so he doesn't feel "alone". He has always been skin and bones so I am hoping we will see positive results in his health and that alone will be worth anything in the world. and other than finding a bread sub, dinners will be very simple due to lack of choice. kinda positive right?

You are amazing! Yes, you are being very positive. Hopefully he will put some weight on now that you can avoid the things that are just not for him. I truly wish you all the best.

That’s a tough list. I’m not much of a cook so I’ll leave that topic to others but I can understand why you’d make this a family plan. It would be much too difficult to try to restrict his diet so severely and not restrict anyone else.

Thanks, I vent on here to get it out of my head since journaling is not my thing. Over the years I have learned to find that dang silver lining in the impossible. Two peas is a great distaction from the real world.

That is a big list!!
I wanted to say that we keep kosher and need non dairy desserts after meat meals. I sub veg oil for butter in parev baking. In Passover we can’t use corn oil so I use cottonseed oil and the baking comes out well. I also use applesauce or homemade date paste in baking for moisture and flavour instead of butter.

Would this butter flavored coconut oil be an option for him? Everything looks good except the organic vegan buttery flavor. I know a lot of vegan products use nutritional yeast as flavoring. I will have to call the company and see. Have it saved to call tomorrow... fingers crossed.

My DD's MIL has a dairy allergy and she uses some ghee. Glee remove the casin protein and oddly on his test he isn’t allergic to that. Waiting on the blood allergy test hoping so are false positives. We know shrimp is definitely one since he broke out in a rash last week after eating it.

I'm sorry for all your obstacles! Can the doctor refer you to a nutritionist or someone who can help you figure all this out? I don't have any experience with food allergies, unfortunately, but I have been seeing ads lately for Country Crock Plant Butter. It seems like it might be an option for you. Lots of luck!

That’s my plan, biggest thing I want to find is a butter substitute for baking bread. With my oldest her allergies came back wheat soy and all nuts. We managed to make homemade Oreos! The oat, milk and tomato is the challenge! I gotta find some sort of “bread” to make and of corse cookies and brownies. Only blessing is I went to pastry school. Trying to avoid crisco like the plague but if they make one without soy oil it might be my only choice. I’ve done plenty of vegan baking and experience with lots of non-wheat/soy flours. Thankfully oldest grew out of all but cashew but she is allergic the cold. Doc didn’t believe it so she put an ice cube on her skin and sure enough broke out in hives where it touched. She went threw marching band in the winter polka dotted!

Get thee to an allergist nutritionist!!!!
Believe me they help A LOT and can give proper swaps as well as meal ideas and help make sure he gets enough kcals.
My dd is allergic to:
All nuts Barely Rye Yeast Celiac Dusease Coconut Pork Shrimp Shell fish Lamb Soy Sesame Corn Rice Pinto beans Lactose intolerant Grapes Strawberries Bell peppers Chocolate (I know right?!) Avocados Bananas Latex All stinging insects Plastic tape
She has to follow the nightshade list.
Anyways seeing an allergist nutritionist was a God send and truly helped.

Skip the bread and sweets for awhile. Nobody needs that. If he needs a sweet, fruit and sweet potatoes are good.
Chicken, Lamb , pork and turkey are probably your best protein source.
Focus on the what he can eat.

I will have to call the company and see. Have it saved to call tomorrow... fingers crossed. I feel for you! That is a really long list of major foods to avoid. Check out Earth Balance Soy-free or Earth Balance Olive oil spread (although this second one uses a flavor derived from corn so maybe won’t work). I’ve seen them at many grocery stores. Have you connected with the Food Allergy Network? Years ago People there were a huge help to a friend of mine who had a child with multiple food allergies. And I second the recommendation to meet with a nutritionist to help develop a meal plan and recipes that will work for your family. This will likely be a big change for the non allergic family members.

If his IgE was over 4k, test his triptaste for MCAD!!!
And yes, follow the night shade list.

I have an adult friend who is allergic to the cold. Big huge hives for her too! My mom and many members on her side of the family have a hereditary cold allergy. They have seen doctors for years and finally with the genetic testing one doctor was able to discover it is on the same gene as rheumatoid arthritis. I’m sharing this because it is so rare, but they have been able to develop some treatments which has greatly improved my mom and family’s quality of life. If your friend is not aware, there are options for her.

Only one other person in my family that I know of had RA , my uncle.
