I am going to do this SOON, and I cannot WAIT !!! You can have either have it open or closed--music or silence. The EXTRA bonus for me is that allllll that Epsom salt will also ease my severe, all-over arthritis and muscle pain! Here's the info on how it works: The flotation tank has 10″ of water saturated with 1000 pounds of Epsom salt, creating incredibly buoyant water for you to float on. The water is heated to skin temperature (93.5 F). Once you're settled, it is virtually impossible to distinguish what parts of your body are in contact with the water and which aren't. ..... (whoa! sounds very cool to me! ) Tell me all about your FLOATING experience....did you love it? Or, if you want to share----tell me why this doesn't appeal to you at all. **ETA....yes, that is ME in the above pik. They asked me to model for their website.....ROFL !!!!!!!! OMG, I WISH !!!!!!!!

My sources (DS and DDIL) tell me he hated it and she loved it. He had to get out of the pod ASAP.

I love it, I have done it about 1/2 dozen times. I prefer pitch black with no sound. Definitely wear ear plugs, my spa provides them, as your ears will get pretty crusty afterwards. Don't shave for at least 12 hours before hand. Your hair will be very dry for several days afterwards, use a deep conditioner once you get home.

When I did it the first time, closing the lid completely made me a little nervous, so I only closed it most of the way at first. A few minutes in, I felt comfortable enough to close it all the way.
I like it dark, but with music/sound. That makes it more relaxing to me.
Enjoy!

LOVE it!!! I was just looking to book a session. I like it dark and quiet. The one I go to is like a small room- you step into the water through a door. I agree with no shaving, ear plugs. Remove contacts. The place I go to has the shower with conditioner and everything you need right there. Wear a bathing suit if you really need to but it’s better without. The feeling of no pain and no pressure on your body almost made me cry! I feel so good afterwards. They usually have tea/ water/ snacks to enjoy after- so you can sit and relax

I shower and swim with contacts since I can't even read a book (too far away) without vision correction.

I guess because of the salt? That’s what my place suggests. The water can drip on your face or if you wipe your eyes. I did leave them in last time but probably would just remove. They do provide a small spray bottle of clear water if you need to get the salty water off your face and not get it in your eyes

I would like to try it if I could keep it partially opened. I would have a hard time just laying there. I don't relax well and would probably get anxious. I am horrible at savasana at the end of my yoga sessions

The first time I heard of it, StephDRebel talked about it in a thread. Haven't done it. I might feel trapped.

That’s what I did, and closed it completely only after I felt comfortable. It would then be like you were just in a bathtub inside a room wihh th a door.

I was stressed because I was bored and trapped. My friends all love it and think I am bizarre because I hated it

Just did my 1st one last week. Bought a 3 pack trial. It was interesting. I did it after a Bodytalk session, so I had a ton to download and process. The 90 min went by really fast. I closed it and turned off the lights....they were distracting.

I’ve done it and couldn’t turn my mind off. I’d rather have an hour long massage.

My husband and I tried it once. I didn’t go into a pod but a bigger area. I did not like it pitch black but I know a lot of people do. Our float was 1 1/2 hours and too long, in my opinion. I have noticed that they now have hour floats and I think that would be better. I got bored. Wish I could’ve read a book while I was in there. Lol.
However, with that said, I have never been so relaxed as I was after I got out. I would say that feeling lasted up to an hour and was completely amazing. I would be more apt to do the shorter amount of time if I did it again.

He did say that he thinks he would prefer one of the other 2. Stacy

I’ve never even heard of this. The idea of no pain sounds heavenly though. I also have horrid insomnia - maybe they will let me rent one overnight so that I can get a solid night’s sleep! Well, except that I get up to pee in the night and having to get out of water to do so would be too much hassle. It does sound interesting though.
