I think I'd seen a recorded version YEARS ago on PBS or something and was meh about it. Well it is a part of our theatre season and our turn was Tuesday night.
(I didn't like it) Yes, they're all extremely talented. More talent in their pinky finger that I have in my whole body. The dancing was amazing. Some of the songs were fun. Memory is obviously a tearjerker song even without adequate backstory.
I had a 90 year old man to my left side who turned to me and asked "What in hell is this show supposed to be? I don't have enough alcohol for the next act!" His wife and daughter were in the row in front of us, shrinking in their seats and saying they shouldn't have brought him because he kept going on and on and on. He was the best part of the show.
Taste is subjective and it wasn't for me. Name a show people seem to love and you just don't get it:

The Office. Tried watching it when it was actually on and it didn't work and tried to watch again recently on Netflix. I still despise it. But, I love Cats.

Ditto about Cats. It was a confusing mess, I went in expecting an actual story to follow, lol. OTOH, I love The Office so much its on constantly, I never stop laughing! I love Evita, that might be one of my favorite plays of all time. I love it so much, I even adore Madonna's movie. Gosh, I think I'll listen to that soundtrack today. Going to see Hamilton finally, in April. So, that might trump Evita becuase I am already in love with the soundtrack.

I saw it in November as part of our season tickets. I didn’t love it but liked some of the songs. It’s really a musical about nothing. Each cat just comes out and sings its song and then the next cat, and so forth. I get the premise that they are all pleading their case to go to car heaven or whatever, but there isn’t much story there.
I did like how they broke the 4th wall a lot and came into the audience. That was fun.

DH wasn't sure if he wanted to see it again. I told him since I've been to see Rent with him a bazillion times since it's his favorite, he could go with me or I'm taking someone else, but I WILL be going.

Cats is based upon T.S. Elliot's Cats. I didn't like it, either, but I loved Grizabella's song.
We saw the worst production of Les Mis. It was the national touring company, but was like a high school production. We could see techs in the background and the set changes were done terribly. I was so disappointed.
I love The Office. It's funny no matter how often you watch.

Cats. It's terrible.
Big Bang Theory. I don't get it.
Comic book superhero/Star Wars movies. Totally wasted on me. Be it DC or Marvel or the Star Wars franchise- I just don't get the appeal. Drives my kids crazy because they are all about the Marvel Universe.

Ugh. I hated Cats. I didn't like the music in the first place and a college roommate dragged me to see it. I admit I went in expecting to hate it, but, yes, I hated it.
I really hated Urinetown and it got a lot of critical acclaim at the time. When my eldest was cast in a high school production, I pulled out the scrapbook and showed her that I had been pregnant with her when I saw it, and that I had journaled about how much I hated it. I mean, of course I went to a bunch of her shows, but . . . ew.

I saw Cats in london's west in in 2000. I was kind of the same way, like... what? At intermission we decided we just needed to sit and enjoy the talent and stop trying to understand wth was going on.
I also went to the millennium dome and saw the center stage act and a couple years ago saw OVO. Totally the same reaction. I think ppl take too many drugs. lol

It was part of my season ticket as well, I saw it years ago - twice. Once because it was all the rave - I didn't like it. Second time someone bought me a ticket as a gift and I felt bad saying I didn't want it. I went and kept dozing off. This time I gave my ticket away, there was no way I could sit through it a third time. Ironically - I gave it the the person who bought me a ticket years ago as a gift - paybacks!!

We went to see Cats for a field trip in middle school choir. I was one of the few who didn’t love it. I still don’t get the undying love for it.
Here are some more I don’t understand all the love for: Big Bang Theory The Office Parenthood This is Us The English Patient Big Little Lies Shameless

I didn't care for The Book of Mormon. When I told my son, he said "Mom, you don't like South Park, so what made you think you would like The Book of Mormon?" I guess he had a point.
I can hardly remember seeing Cats, but I know I didn't love it. I think my memory failure has something to do with the fact that my husband and I had a few cocktails at a party we attended before the show. It sounds like it is a good thing that my memory is a little fuzzy.

I saw Cats for the first time two weeks ago, and I loved it. I knew it didn't have a story. I just loved the dancing -- those ballerinas took my breath away. The tap dance number was so much fun. I guess I'm used to going to dance recitals that have a bunch of random numbers one after another. It seemed like that only the dancers were really good.
I really never got either The Office, Parks and Rec, and that Portlandia show. My kids kept trying to make me like them, but I never got into any of them. I did, however, love Schitt's Creek, although it took me a few shows to appreciate it.

I felt the same way.
I love Shameless. It's my favorite show. William H. Macy is a fantastic actor. Hard to imagine that Emmy Rossum played Christine Daae in the Movie version of Phantom. She's a very talented actress.

I saw Cats in its first run on the west stage and saw it twice after that with my daughter ( every time on the moving stage - each time the cats interacted with her, she was thrilled!)
It’s my all-time favourite stage show .

Cats is the worst. We left at intermission knowing I could get home at a decent hour if we did. I generally love musical theater and it just sucked.
I think the movie Dirty Dancing is stupid. I quit watching in the second half.

The first time I saw Cats I didn’t particularly like it. I enjoyed the singing and dancing but as a show I was a bit WTF was that?
Since then I’ve looked at the poems and read a few things about the stage show and I’ve grown to love it. The storyline is very loose but I just love the music and I’m happy to watch it any time.

I saw Cats when I was in 6th grade. I thought it was boring.... I have season tickets to my town's broadway series. Last year Cats came here. I couldn't even give away the tickets. How it's lasted over 30 years is beyond me

It’s my all-time favourite stage show . It was such a phenomenon when it came out, probably because it was different from the usual fare. Remember how people were crazy for it at the time? The music was pervasive--it seemed like every dance team, drill team, colorguard and marching band in the U.S. used the music, mine included. It brings back lots of memories and I was thrilled when my boyfriend at the time gave me the album for Christmas. That said, I only saw the musical once in L.A. with said boyfriend and I never saw it again. I didn't hate it; I think I was just oversaturated. A show I don't relate to that others like is "Big Bang Theory". I refer to it as "people I knew in college". Just doesn't tickle my funny bone.

I'm not a fan of musical theater in general. I saw Cats literally decades ago when I was in 8th grade. I guess I liked it because we were on a trip and it was new and exciting. Loved Hamilton.
I don't get the love for Groundhog Day. Hated it. Same with Big Bang Theory.

I had read the book of poems that Cats uses and wondered how they'd make it into a musical. I never really thought of it as a true story as much as a collection of very short stories. I've seen the musical three times but not the movie. I do love the music and have it on several of my playlists.

Cats sucks. It is horrible. My friend worked on the original broadway show , he says it sucks.
The music however is brilliant.
Btw my daughter danced Victoria a few years ago.
I don’t get the walking dead.

I have never liked Cats. My mom went through a Cats phase when I was growing up and the music just about killed me. We saw a performance too but I was underwhelmed. In some sort of poetic justice for my mom, my daughter now LOVES Cats. She wanted to go when it was local last year but it didn't work out for multiple reasons. I did get her the DVD and even watched it with her. (Totally worth it for her horrified reaction to the Rum Tum Tugger hahaha)
Incidentally, this same child declared that she hated Hamilton a while back and was annoyed that I got tickets to "my" show (for summer 2020) right after she missed out on Cats. Then last week she asked me if I would consider taking her to Hamilton instead of Dh lol.
