I think I am going to make ham and scalloped potatoes. My Sister in law gave me 1/2 a ham that was given to them when my dad passed (we gathered at their house). So I think that is the plan. Then I will freeze leftovers.
My goal for the day is to clean out a cupboard (done!) and a closet. My house has been neglected for the 6 months my dad was sick. He was more important.

Good morning ladies!!!
I get a nice quiet morning! Ds has a bowling meet but dh and I decided to skip this one because we have done errands to run this morning and his meet is more than an hour away and we wouldn't have time to do those and have enough time before we have to leave for futsal. So I get to sit around and enjoy my coffee for a few.
Other than futsal and errands, we don't have much planned. I did loads of housework yesterday so the only thing I have to do is put dishes away and reload a few.
Dinner tonight is lasagna soup. I haven't made it in more than a year. I'm making 2 types of pasta for it - mini bow ties or cheese tortellini. Dh and ds aren't fans of torts so they get the bowties.
Have a good day friends!!

DH is taking me to I-Hop and I'm wayyyy more excited about it than a normal person! I only say that because I do NOT go out as much as I used to, but mostly because I do NOT get to just hang out with just him very often without our adora-bull doggies distracting us! Also, DH has been SOOO absorbed in the impeachment trial, I am EXTRA thrilled to get him away from the TV !!!!!!!!!!! After that, I'm going shopping for groceries and I'd LIKE to go thrift store shopping IF my joints will allow it! I LOVE it when DH goes with me (because it's so rare), and today he definitely won't! I know he's gonna be antsy to get back home and watch the news for the entire day/ evening ! GAH, I hope he'll take a break from the trial later tonight so we can watch our tradish Saturday night movie! After I-Hop breakfast and groceries, I MIGHT go and meet my friends' new baby.......OMG, there is seriously something about this baby that touches my heart soooo much more than other friends' babies. Aside from her being EXTRA cute----I suppose she's even more special to me because Mommy suffered many miscarriages, and they NEVER thought they'd be parents. (by the way----IF the parents would allow me (they never would!!!) , I would post a pik of this baby. I'm NOT exaggerating when I say she is EXTRA, AMAZINGLY, EXTREMELY cute! But, all babies are!) Dinner might be something new I'm excited to try! Ribeye steaks with cowboy butter. I've never made it, and the recipe makes me DROOL! I can't belieeeeeve I'd never heard of this until very recently. Oh, and leannec...I am totalllly getting some prosciutto and brie today---can't wait to try it! I should probably go ahead and copy you and get some melba rounds, too!

Spread a bit of brie (without the rind) on your melba round and rip off about a third of the procuitto strip and put that on top ... heaven

I am boarding a cruise ship in a few hours. Need I say more? I am most excited because I don’t have to cook and I love all the fresh fruit. Fresh fruit...yeah, that’s it.

I am having a nice quiet day here. I had physio this morning and the a treatment they call ‘warmpackung’ - you lie on a massage bed that has a sheet and a hot pack from shoulder to waist, then they wrap the sheet around you and you lie there for 20 minutes. It is really good for relaxing back muscles, and walking with crutches can mess with your back. It is sooo good! After lunch I had a little nap - I said to my physio that I keep falling asleep after lunch, and she was all ‘well what do you expect - you just had a major surgery with a general anaesthetic. Listen to your body, and sleep if you need to’ Lunch today was schnitzel with potato gratin, followed by fruit quark. I have ordered ‘dessert for dinner’ tonight - pear/quark strudel with vanilla custard. I am looking forward to that.

DH and I are getting ready to go on our Saturday morning walk. After we get back I'll finish studying for my DMV written test ~ they make you take a test if you're over 70. Fun times. I waited too long to get an appointment so I have to go sit ~ probably for an hour and a half before I get to start the test and apply for my Real ID. I might get a pizza for dinner. This meme is for me for waiting too long to get a DMV appointment:

The bronchitis is not letting up yet- Ive also been sneezing this morning, but I think that is more because I just went through 2 totes of old schoolwork, greeting cards, newspaper clippings, etc. We have been laughing at some of the things ds wrote when he was 7 or 8. I also found a couple of really nice notes that ds wrote about former teachers, so I shared those with them on fb.
Dinner tonight is Steaks and garlic mashed potatoes and a vegetable to be names later.

Ugh. Had eye shot yesterday it totally messes up the other eye weirdness so I am spending the day wandering around bumping into things. lol So dinner will be easy something or another. I like to make pizzas with those low carb tortillas so maybe that? Easy and don't have to be able to see a lot to do it.

I met with a student this morning for some ACT tutoring and then hit Sam's Club. Picked up some yummy smoked salmon and chicken!
I'm going to make Chicken Divan for dinner. It's not part of our regular dinner rotation and I need a little change.
Hopefully a lazy afternoon ahead.

It's a damp and chilly day out today and it's killing my joints, especially my knee. Hubby and I went out for breakfast at the diner and then picked up a couple of things from the grocery store. Now we are just relaxing and watching movies.
For dinner I have some boneless chicken thighs thawing out. I am thinking of making them with bell peppers and onions, rice, beans and guacamole.

I went to my sister’s and we went shopping at Hobby Lobby. I found some stamp pads, which is what I went looking for, on clearance for $1.49! I was very happy as they were regularly $5.99 and $7.99.
Dinner will be a burger, salad and maybe some broccoli. I’m considering tabling Whole 30 tonight and drinking wine while I enjoy a bath in my newly repaired tub! I haven’t taken a bath since we moved here 3 1/2 years ago. My BIL gave me a bottle of Moscato when I was leaving their house 😊

Saturdays are ukulele playing at the music store WAY across town. I'm not very good at it but it's fun nonetheless. The added bonus is it's not far from the best seafood market in the area. And since today is DH's birthday, we ate lunch in the restaurant located there. Yummy food and more than we usually eat at noon. Dinner will be light...whatever we can scrounge up from the fridge and/or pantry. There are, however, fresh strawberries as a sweet ending since he declined my offer to make/get him a cake.

christine58, you must have had a secret meeting w/my dh. I asked him what he wants for dinner and he wants ham and potato casserole. So, that's dinner. Great minds think a like. anxiousmom, I'm volunteering to come over to your place and bubble wrap everything for you. Take care of yourself, young lady. KelleeM, light candles, enjoy the bath and wine. You've more than earned it.

We went to a 5 star restaurant last night (aka MIL's) and the chef outdid herself. The entree was a smoked salmon dome filled with creamy avocado, mango and prawns. The main course was fillet steak with peppercorn sauce on a bed of spinach, and confit sweet potato, served with onion and roasted cherry tomatoes from BIL's garden, and chips. Dessert was a mini pavlova - meringue with vanilla cream, ice cream, caramel sauce and soaked prunes. (I couldn't eat the prunes because they'd been soaked in port - I don't drink alcohol at all anymore, and I had a bad experience with port when I was a naughty 14yo so I can't even bear to smell it now.) The whole meal was amazing! I would have been happy to have paid big bucks for it in a restaurant. sueg that "warmpackung" sounds divine! Maybe not in the middle of summer though! And scrappintoee , today was your turn to teach me something..... I had to google Cowboy Butter...... oh wow, it looks and sounds amazing! I'm going to have to try it one day.

I had some rechauffe pork roast that was horrible. I threw the rest of it out. We also had ice cream. Thanks for the thread. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, sisters!

Hi kids are here and it’s wonderful. Tonight I made stir fry steak for my dad and I with tons of vegetables. The kids wanted sukiyaki so I made that for them. I was way over on my diet because I had a honeycrisp Apple. Hardly a plate of French fries but I ate it and enjoyed it.
