When I visited Moscow in 1996, I was curious and wanted to see what the body's appearance might be. However, the "exhibit" was closed during that time, for upkeep, so the sign said.

Thank you for sharing this. I got to see him on display when I lived in Russia in the early nineties. If I recall right, he was only on display a few days a week and only for a few hours at a time.

Very interesting! Wild to think his body at one point had a team of 200 scientists working on it.

I went to Russia on my Honeymoon in 1997 on a River cruise and we got to see him. We marched in silence past his coffin and were not able to linger as guards kept us moving along. It was quite a line, as I remember.

I saw him in 1999. I remember thinking, "Why would I do this? But when in Moscow..."
It was an odd experience.

I visited Moscow in November 1992 and January 1993 and was not able to see him on either trip.

Wasn't Evita's body also preserved/on display for some time?

I follow ask a mortician on youtube. I really love her iconic corpse series. She talked about both Lenin and Evita. Eva's story is really fascinating and really crazy.
These stories are fascinating to me. And I wonder if the deceased people would actually want this after their death.

While we were visiting Russia, we went into a church that had a lady preserved for many years (don't remember now). She was a nun and either was a candidate for Sainthood or actually was considered a Saint. She was lying there for all to pay homage. We were cautioned not to try to kiss her. She had been on display for a very long time. I just tried to find who she was and found this site: www.mysticsofthechurch.com/2010/04/saints-that-are-incorruptable.html
