Yesterday I went to a salon to get a Brazilian wax before our vacation at the end of the week. I had an appointment with my usual technician but when I got there, she had to leave sick but assured me that another technician could handle the job. Ok, no worries. I've done this before so I knew what to expect, etc.
I am laying on the table and the technician gets to work. Im laying there and feel her put wax in the bend/crease where my leg attached, and pull. It hurt like hell. Usually my tech just tweezes the few hairs there. Then she goes to the other leg and puts wax in the crease of my leg. This time I asked what she was doing because it hurt (more than I usually hurt after a wax all together). I look down and I now have one dark, ugly purple/blue bruise on one crease (about 3 inches long) and a second bruise on the other crease that isn't that bad, but its still a bruise (about 1.5 inches long). The bruises will NOT be able to be hidden with my bikini.
At this point I am done with it all and ask her to stop. She goes gets the manager and she apologizes and gets a new girl to finish the waxing. The manager says she isn't sure what happened to get the bruises so bad and almost insinuates I must have done something to cause them. Hello. They weren't there when I came in and now they are. *I* didn't cause this. I am on no medicine, anything with aspirin, etc. I had paid for the waxing ahead of time (when I booked) and only tipped the girl who finished the wax.
These bruises? They are bad today. I am one week from being on the beach for vacation and I look like a freak with these bruises.
I have to cell number of my usual girl - would you text/call during business hours and tell her about my experience? She isn't the owner (I do not know the owner). There's really nothing she can do now as the bruises aren't going go away anytime soon. So if I told her about it, I would only be an FYI situation.
Would you leave a bad review? Call and ask to speak with an owner (and again, there isn't anything that can be done now). Just leave it alone and just dont go back? As of right now, I dont want to go back to this place, ever.
So what would you do? Also? Have any good remedies for bruises to heal quickly?

Ugh...so sorry! You might want to research a compress with Apple Cider Vinegar. I had an arm bruise that seemed much better when I applied it to the area.

I would call and speak with the owner. The least they can do is refund your money. Bruises on your nethers are inexcusable.
There is some herb or plant or oil that you can put on bruises that actually helps reduce them. I cannot remember what it’s called. My mother in law uses it after she gets blood drawn. She bruises so easily. I’m normally very anti oils/plants for medical things, but I’ve seen this one work. (Not looking rough debate my beliefs 😉). One of our more knowledgeable peas has the name I am sure!

Vitamin K, and apply alternating heat and cold. I think some gentle massage between the heat and cold can help dislodge all of the cells contributing to the appearance of the bruise.
Also, can you maybe get some good water proof cover up to use if the discolouration isn’t gone by your trip?

Good thought! Let me check Amazon.

Definitely use the arnica. Epsom salt compresses may help the bruises fade quickly also.

I would speak with the manager. mom another really good cream that helps bruises disappear faster is Hirudoid cream. Not sure if it's available in the US. The active ingredient is heparinoid and its made by Medinova Ltd, Switzerland.

The tech obviously needs more training. The manager should deal with that as she clearly knows that now. Hopefully the bruising will heal pretty quickly. If you liked the previous tech I would go back but stipulate that you will o my be treated by her and leave if necessary if they try and switch it up. And don’t pay in advance!

I've bruised every time I've ever been waxed. But I'm an easy bruiser in general. They usually go away in a few days.

I work with the elderly, and was recently given the tip to give them fresh pineapple every day for bruising. I was a bit skeptical, but it did indeed seem to speed things up. I looked it up and the bromelien in the fresh pineapple helps break up the blood clots that form bruises. Anyways, it's worth a shot!

(and FWIW, I've heard the same thing about using fresh pineapple to help speed up getting better when you have a cold.)

One bikini wax I got resulted in what I thought was bruising, but it really was layers of skin that had come off. The bruises turned into scabs a day later. I hope this isn’t what happened to you.

Since your regular girl recommended the bruiser, I would definitely let her know what happened. She won't want her reputation tarnished by her backup, and she can't control that if she doesn't know. I would also contact the owner and let her know what happened.
I'm sorry this happened. Hopefully the tips you've gotten will have you cleared up quickly and enjoying your vacation.

No scabs yet - I looked and the skin doesn't look torn. But the bruises look like a bad black eye...only on my legs.

You could also try rubbing the bruises with a soft toothbrush. It will help stimulate blood circulation to the area to break up the clots under the skin.

This will sound crazy, but I thought I'd share.
I once had a hickey on my neck and did not want to go to work with it showing (elem teacher). I read online to rub a fine-tooth comb over it to help the bruising fade. I thought it sounded crazy, but it actually worked! This is similar to suggestion to use a toothbrush in post before this. Give it a try! It might work!
I've had bruising after waxing and did not go back to that technician. Never happened with other technicians.
Good luck!

I had this happen once...right before my first lake trip with my then boyfriend, now DH’s family. I was horrified! It happened because the girl waxing me was a novice and kept waxing over the same area. I looked like I had been beaten! Mine disappeared after about 4-5 days. I never went back there, and have never had it happen since.

I would get a couple of those scarf coverups to tie around your waist.
Ps I think it would be creepy if people looked at my crotch long enough to see bruising.

Is the bruising visible from the front, say if you were laying in a beach chair? Or is it between your legs? If it's mostly between, I wouldn't worry too much. And how pale are you, me a black bruise on my white white skin would shine like a beacon. Odd that this happened to you since it never had before.

I am pasty white so it shows up. I am going to get a spray tan most likely and whatever it covers is what gets covered. Its looking better so I am still crossing my fingers.
