Just a side note, if someone wanted to get litigious, I do believe you can trace viral infections. I believe there’s gene sequencing or something that’s somewhat traceable. It’s how they can back-track and eventually find patient 1 or the source I believe. I may be completely off though, so don’t hold me to it.

Holy shit! I think the estimate of 1,000 people seems low. They should all be fired and have their licenses revoked.

By now I think even an elementary school kid knows the basic symptoms of covid-19 (fever & cough) and why we self-isolate or self-quarantine. So a group of surgeons at my hospital decides to take advantage of lots of free time since they can’t do any elective surgery. They bring in a vendor/trainer. Spend about 6 hours of training with him and then they all go out to dinner together. 5 days later the vendor/trainer calls to report he’s just tested positive for covid-19. The director of employee health at the hospital is notified the next day. She begins to trace employee exposure only to discover ALL the surgeons that attended the training have fevers > 100F and a cough for at least 2-3 days. They all went into work knowing they were sick. They continued to do emergency surgery, round on their patients, and see patients in their outpatient offices for follow-up. They did not wear masks, gloves, & gown except for surgery. But they used surgical masks not N95. She had them tested immediately & they all came back positive for Covid-19. Collectively they have exposed about 1000 people to the virus (patients, some family members, and mostly hospital staff). All of them have to be tested, except there aren’t enough tests in our region to do this. These surgeons are the people who know better but ignored what they had been taught, broke their oath of first do no harm, and will probably escape any consequences for their actions. I AM PEA LIVID! Every time I think I cannot be shocked or surprised, I am again shocked and surprised. I am SO SO SO grateful for people like you hmp who will report these things at the risk of your own job. Just one thousand million thank yous to you. You rock

Unbelievable!!! I'm Pea livid right there with you! I have seen first hand how people who should know better just disregard safety measures. Even around the elderly.

Holy crap. That's outrageous. It makes me wonder how many more stories are like this out there that we haven't heard yet, but it will explain a huge explosion of cases about to hit.

It's crazy. There is also a whistleblower about masks going on over on Twitter. There is a government surplus auction that has been auctioning off pallets of masks. It's being called out by billdedman on Twitter.

Unreal! That’s quite the level of denial they all must have had. This is why shelter in place orders are necessary. Too many people can’t be trusted to make rational decisions about themselves. “This doesn’t apply to ME”... The bad part of that is that they are "essential" employees so shelter in place doesn't really apply to them so they'd have done it anyway!

I hope you have said enough that this will be discovered. I live in a small northeastern state. I would like to think that something like this wouldn't happen, but unfortunately in this day and age, it's almost uncertain that it would.
Thanks for doing what you can! It certainly couldn't have been easy. I hope that your job remains safe.
