tentoes I am so happy it went well. I love that your DDIL is making it pretty for you. Not only is she making it pretty, she's making me a quilt for my KING sized bed with fabric from my husband's shirts. It's going to be beautiful. She is quite the lady. I'm such a lucky grandma.

I think teddy bears are going to be hard to get rid of!! I'm at my house today. I AM parting with a big doll my husband bought for me for Christmas one year, but the teddy bears? How can I put them in a bag to get rid of?? They will suffocate and feel so unloved! This is gonna e hard.
I did clean out the refrigerator and got rid of two big garbage bags full of partly used things--does that count in our de cluttering?? I have the dishwasher going with all the empty containers that had food in them that I threw out--certainly that counts!! All my containers will stay with the house, so in essence I'm getting rid of all of them too!! My granddaughter isn't going to know what hit her! They over fill the lazy Susan in the corner unit in the kitchen.
ok, I found part of an antique dish set that I gave to one of my daughters, but these weren't with the set! So I'm going to give the rest of the set to her! That should count right?? I gave a tea pot with two matching cups and saucers to my granddaughter today, and a "weather station." That makes me feel better!! ha ha!

I packed up more stuff at my house today. I did get rid of three teddy bears, but my big get rid of was a suitcase full of barbies and ken dolls and clothes--several barbie horses. The little girl that lives next door to me is going to love them. I trashed some open food stuffs that I wasn't sure how old they were. I found all my summer clothes, and will go through them probably tomorrow. I'm tired out. Spent the whole morning 7:30am-2 pm going through stuff, cleaning the kitchen, pledging the dining room furniture, cleaning baseboards, vacuuming the floors, wiping counters, you get the picture! It's 3 now, finally ate lunch--and now I need a shower then a nap!!

tentoes - you are doing fabulous - and what a gift you are giving your family by going through and downsizing now and passing along things to people who will enjoy and use them Tossed seven old photo albums - the photos are all scanned and stored in an Iris photo case (which DH had hanging around unused). This archiving project is huge but I AM making progress. I tossed another old broken down bookcase in this week's trash pickup - back before Christmas DH put three old broken bookcases in the yard with the intention of taking them to the dump but the truck hasn't been working, life got busy, and now the dump is temporarily closed. Last week, I managed to break apart the two smaller ones and get them in the spare bin. This week, I did the same to the larger one. They were just flatpack bookcases from WM that we've had for eons and that finally just collapsed - not worth fixing. I've been reading through my to-read pile and adding the books to the donation box as I finish them. There's still a big stack that doesn't fit on a bookcase but it's shrinking. I've read 40 books this year so far and they all either been re-homed or added to the donation box. And DH has been working in his office a little bit every night - tossing, donating, shredding. It's a huge job but every little bit helps.

I have a stack of things for my granddaughter to go through when she's ready. She's getting married in September, so she'll need a bunch of stuff. I found a steamer (for vegetables) in the shed today that I added to the pile! There is a blender and an ice cream maker in the garage too, so I'll get those out too. My grandson and my future grandson in law are going to share the tools in the garage, along with my son. My son has a lot of them already, so the two boys will probably get the majority of them! I'm so tired tonight, I'm not sure I'll go back tomorrow or not!! I still have to move all my hang up clothes from my bedroom!!

I'm back at my house today. Mostly just cleaning out stuff. Not going to list everything I'm getting rid of--but I cleaned out two medicine cabinets, two bathroom undersink cabinets--got rid of a lot of stuff, and am taking some towels with me, but dumping the rest of them. Cleaned out two of the closets, have several more to do. dumped everything that was still in the refrigerator. Will take some of the freezer stuff over for the family. Cleaned out most of the wall unit to get it ready to be moved on Saturday.
so far, the scrapbook room hasn't been touched--oh Lord help me!!

good job tentoesDo you have a plan for the scrapbook room? Will you have a scrapbook space in the new place? Do you have family members who scrap? I've emptied and scanned and labelled two more albums - and the actual photo albums (early 80s magnetic pages) are in the bin

I've emptied and scanned and labelled two more albums - and the actual photo albums (early 80s magnetic pages) are in the bin Thanks Hon! Yes, I have a plan--my son is building a "she shed" in the back yard. I actually digi scrap now, so everything I use is on my computer. But, we will put all my paper supplies in the "shed" (the shed will be almost 1000 sq feet). I'll have to share it with a tractor, and a large train layout, and pool supplies, but my "stuff" will go out there too. My ddil homeschools, so she'll use some of my supplies as the occasion arises. I will put my scrap desk out there too, so if the paper scrapbook bug bites me again, I'll have a space to use. We recently made a bunch of cards with some of my supplies. I also sent a large supply home with one of my daughters back before the shut down started. I used to paper scrap with all three of my daughters. I don't think any of them scrap anymore. I taught one of them how to digi scrap, and taught her daughters how to digi scrap too. They used those skills to make their school yearbooks. (they were home-schooled too!) I have way too many supplies!! It carried over to my digi scrapping too because I have about 15 external hard drives full of sb supplies!!

I was over at my house today. I went in the shed and found a huge box full of old barbies, and little pet shop stuff. several of the horses, and dolls, and lots of clothes. My youngest girl grandchild is 13, so I took the whole box over to a neighbor that has two girls --2, and 8. They loved the stuff! After that I brought a load of stuff over here. I'm going through the stuff now. I'll be paring down a lot of the clothes. Lots of stuff is way too big for me since I lost a lot of weight since my husband died. So maybe my closet won't be as full as I thought it was going to be!

When my husband died 17 months ago, I wore a 14-16 size. Then, within a few months I wore a 12-14--then down to a 12. Then a 10, and then an 8. I've lived with my son's family for a month now, and I'm back up to a 10. I'm eating much better than I did at home. I am sleeping better, and my blood pressure has been much better overall. My problem now is, I have all these clothes, and various sizes. I actually did get rid of the 14-16 last year, but still have the other sizes. I can probably get rid of the 8's. I really don't want to be that thin again. I have a hard time with "tops" falling off my shoulders when I'm that thin. I'm fine with a 10. I don't feel like I'll blow away in a wind anymore. I wish I knew how many sizes to keep!!
I really don't want to be a 14-16 again--so I need to start watching what I'm eating!! If I got rid of all the other sizes, I'd have enough room in my MIL suite for my clothes!!
Can I say I'm loving living here so far? The kids are fun to be around, and our dogs are interacting nicely. In addition, we seem to have an open communication going on. I'm trying to be helpful around the house, and with meals, but my ddil is so organized, she really doesn't seem to need much help! This past week I've been gone a lot--over to my own home to sort through things. Pretty soon it will be too hot to work out in the garage or the shed. I do want to get rid of a lot of stuff over there--my suite here is pretty full now!! We don't have the shed built yet, but I could get things packed up so it's ready for the shed when it gets built!!

I went over to my house this morning. Got a lot done--I took the sheets off the guest bed, and washed and dried them. (along with a bunch of rags that were already in the washer!) I vacuumed up all the mulberry tree yuck in the house! I packed up all my hanging clothes and brought them over to my son's home. I cleaned out the game cupboard and brought the ones I want over. I left "care packages" at two of my friends home--one is a new widow, and she's having a hard time. The other lady is my extrovert friend that is having a hard time with the stay at home!! I called and told them I'd be by, then when I got there, I rang the doorbell, and moved away from the door! They were both glad to see me. The extrovert friend had just made cookies, so she gave me a bag full to bring home! I got back here, then ate lunch, and unloaded the car. I had to rearrange some things to fit everything in--in fact, some stuff is still sitting on the floor of my room!! My son rearranged the shelves and hanging areas of the closets last night, so there was plenty of room for my hang-up stuff. The shelving stuff they used in here is awesome--very easy to rearrange to fit different things. I love them! I have much more closet space in this mil suite than I did in my whole house! I brought over a lot of storage containers so, after while, I'll be able to organize stuff with like things! I didn't get rid of much while I was over there, but did remember to do some cleaning while I was there!!

I made tremendous progress on my craft space.
-I did a deep purge of about 90% of my supplies. Last year, I gave stuff to local school, not possible this year. So I set it aside.
-Decided to get rid of cabinets that were no longer functional. What to do to replace them? I'm going through garage, found four sets of open plastic shelving units. Aha! Since all of my stuff is in bins and boxes, I could put it all on the shelves and it would not look too messy.
-Pulled out shelves and assembled them. Freed up space in garage so contents could be more neatly stacked.
-Emptied craft room and divided stuff into keep and toss piles.
-Put cabinets on neighborhood FB page. Sold all of them in less than 2 hours.
-Put crafts supplies on same page. Last time, I tried that, most stuff did not go. This time, the leftovers plus everything else went in less than an hour.
-Put shelves into room. Currently in process of setting up room.

@dallie - WOW! I'm impressed with all that you've accomplished. You've really been on a roll. Wonderful feeling to make progress isn't it? Yes, indeed. My now only craft room feels so much more spacious without those bulky cabinets! I think I can easily move my foldable craft table in there and actually still have room to work. I realized , after I got rid of the cabinets, how much of a problem they were. I had sort of known that and had hesitated about getting rid of them because I knew my husband would complain because they were "only" 12 years old (!) And he did complain. But I Marie Kondo'd him and said they had served me well, but it was time to send them to a better home. I think after 12 years, we had gotten out money's worth out of cabinets that then cost about $70 each.

I've been busy moving. Today I went through some stuff that is at the new place, and organized it so like things are with like things. Who the heck needs 52 new toothbrushes? especially when you use an electric one??? I got rid of all the regular ones! It was a full shoebox full. I got rid of empty candy wrappers too. haha! I got rid of some hair picks, hair scrunchies, otc medications that were outdated, or my deceased husbands stuff. Although you can't tell I worked all day long in my rooms, I know they are more organized than when I started. I will have a better time finding things now.
