Oh, he'll be out anyway; it's grocery shopping and Rx pickup day and he's the only person allowed out of the house. He also wears a mask everywhere. We're super careful. I'll have him look anyway. Better to have it and not need it, right? You're so sweet! I had NO idea that even down here they're short on Tylenol (even generic!). WOW! Guess we should have been stocking up!! If he does happen to see it (even generic), could you let me know?? DH and DD both use it here and we should be stocking up........ xo

No problem. Yeah, I sent him out BEFORE the stay home order and the shelves of all kinds of pain killers were picked clean already! Lexica it really isn't fair that the governing bodies don't distinguish between addicts and those who are taking it for chronic pain who most certainly are NOT addicts. It just isn't right. There has to be a better way.

I snagged a bottle of 24 Tylenol Arthritis a month back when I did a target order. Figured it would work if I needed it. It's acetomenophin after all. Just 650 instead of whatever the usual is. Take less, right?
Good luck to your sister @bergdorfblonde I hope she and her DH recover quickly!

Hubby said that's okay, and he'll look when he's out tomorrow. IF he finds any, and it's a big if, it'd make most sense for me to mail it directly. I could do overnight if you like. It's not perfect, but at least she'd know some relief is on the way. Anyway, let me know. We need to help each other in crises like this, and I'm happy to do so. Zella, you are so kind. I hope somehow @bergdorfblonde ’s sister can get relief soon. I ordered the arthritis Tylenol and it should arrive here by Friday. I was just talking to my doctor yesterday about my Norco not being strong enough to deal with my pain anymore. We had switched to Norco from Vicodin at my request years ago because the Norco has less acetaminophen in it and that is a component that can cause some organ damage if used in they way that a chronic pain person must use it. Now that the Norco isn’t cutting it for me, we talked about switching back to Vicodin. In the end, I decided to just add some acetaminophen along with it but hadn’t ordered it until just now upon seeing this post. @bergdorfblonde , can you check your sister’s zip code to see how quickly they could get it to her from Amazon? I used the link provided in the post by christine58 above. Thank you for the suggestion. I did try....... NY is really out of most pain relievers. I ended up getting it via Sam's Club and shipping it to her (a generic). It was inexpensive + no shipping fees for members. I, too, worry about my pain reliever (Fioricet w/codeine: Butal/Caff/Acet/Codeine). I take the dose they allow me to take and I'm careful, but still, I take it daily (6 per day which is right for my weight). I don't take any other pain reliever and I get bloodwork done every 3 months to check my kidney function, etc........ You're right to worry! (I never heard of Norco??? And I could never get Vicodin from my Pain Mgmt doctor. They only give out certain meds...... I often wonder if something else would be more effective!?).

I didn’t know the Fioricet came with codeine. The regular version still works great for me so far, but if it ever stops, I will ask my doctor if he thinks the inclusion of codeine would work for me and be safe with my other medications.
@bergdorfblonde, it is my understanding that Norco and Vicodin are basically the same thing with the exception of the amount of acetaminophen in them. My time-released morphine is my main pain drug and the Norco is for extra pain. I have extra pain daily since I have been doing so much packing of boxes and lifting and pushing heavy things. And the dust flares my allergies up. The Fioricet is for my headaches. I don’t take it daily. I have horrible insomnia and get extreme headaches when I haven’t slept. I’ve been experiencing more sleepless nights lately, no doubt brought on by the extra stress. I am hoping that once this virus subsides and I can sell my house and buy a new small one that I will be able to sleep better and not need the Fioricet at all anymore.
I plan on just using the Tylenol with the Norco to boost its efficacy. I’m sure you were probably told when you started your pain meds that too much acetaminophen can cause severe damage to your liver so you need to be cautious with any medication containing it and really cautious with taking Tylenol in addition to your prescribed meds. People tend to think that just because acetaminophen is an over-the-counter medication that it is not dangerous. In Vicodin/Norco the opioid content does not hurt your organs, but the acetaminophen can do major damage to your liver. That’s why they test us so often. I should have done bloodwork this week but we arranged a phone appointment instead. I’ll get it done when it is safer out there.
I think I will email my doctor to ask him what would be a prudent amount of Tylenol that I can add to the Norco. I ordered the arthritis version, which has 650 mg per pill, which is high. I have a pill cutter and had planned on taking a half, but this conversation is making me think I would be lax if I didn’t get my doctor’s advice on Tylenol dosage.
Do you use any over-the-counter meds with your prescriptions? If your current meds stop working for you, I would suggest you ask about a time-released pain medication. It was such an improvement in quality of life for me. Prior to getting it, I was on that rollercoaster where the pain at the time I was allowed more meds was building as the med wore off. And of course it takes time for the new pill to kick in too, so several times a day I had to deal with ever increasing pain during dosages. This was on just Vicodin at the time.
With the time-released morphine, I take it every 12 hours. That only gives me 2 times that I know my pain will build and I just take a Norco an hour before the morphine pill. It has handled the pain by the time the morphine has stopped working and covers me until the new morphine kicks in. It sounds silly, but it made all the difference in the world for me. And since you have to take your meds 6 times a day, you undoubtedly know what I’m talking about. Hopefully your doctor will find some type of time-release medication that would work for you.
Wait - I thought that your pain had gone away after the wonder doctor was able to get all the bullet bits out of your eye socket. Did it come back?

It looks like there are some pharmacies that deliver on Long Island. Maybe your sister could get meds that way? Of course, that's banking on them having Tylenol in stock...

Wait - I thought that your pain had gone away after the wonder doctor was able to get all the bullet bits out of your eye socket. Did it come back? I was on morphine for a while but it wasn't too effective for me. I'm a weird case and only certain meds work. I take Maxalt (brand only) for migraines. The fioriCet is for the chronic pain, and I take Maxalt for migraines. Yes, that horrible pain from the bullet is gone. It's hard to explain. I was pain free for a few days and then a new, different pain set in. I have a ton of scar tissue and so many other unfinished issues. I'm still patched and need a few more surgeries to finish puting me back together. My eye socket is like a battlefield, according to my surgeon. It's so badly damaged, hence the constant pain. Now hI ave terrible pain in my sinus cavity where my surgeon scooped out so many deeply buried silicone beads. More scar tissue and damage. As far as the meds, I'm watched closely by my pain Dr every 3 months and do bloodwork. I'm barely hanging on with these meds--always in bad pain. Still nauseous from the severity of it. Such is my lnormal ife. Hope you have decent days. We all try to be as healthy as we can, right??

Aww, I’m so sorry you still have pain. And from what you describe - scooping out beads - it would be a surprise if you didn’t have pain. It sucks and I’m sad for you. Somewhere up ahead, I hope you reach the end of your health issues and have smooth sailing for the remainder of your life. You deserve it.

Glad to see you found some. For anyone else searching, Office Depot in my town had the boxes of the individual dosages in stock. We have the same box in our office for whenever an employee needs it, but it didn't occur to me to look at an office supply store!

I was just going to say that Amazon has been delivering things way before the estimated date. I ordered some tylenol on the 15th wasn't supposed to be here until the 28th and I got it on the 19th.

So glad that you found some finally! I am just now reading the thread and was going to offer to send some from what I have. I have a brother who is a surgeon in NYC and I understand the panic in trying to help these siblings from far away. Hope your sister is feeling better soon.
