I have to say, I am LOVING these topic threads lately! I definitely agree with Embri and linda on the idea of organising how you think. I only pocket page and TN scrapbook at this point so I don't keep much 12x12 paper - I definitely have more than I should! - and I don't really buy the latest collections. One thing I learnt recently is that I just don't use 6x4 cards. So any I get in my kits now, I cut up to 3x4 straight away, or if they won't work at 3x4, I put them in my 'stuff to pass on' box. I spent a while looking for my perfect card storage and found this on Amazon - it works perfectly. 3x4 cards fit perfectly in the divided compartment and the small stash of 6x4 cards I keep sit in the front. Ohh loving that container!

I'm loving this. I'm especially interested in containers/bags, etc. Some of these suggestions are definitely jumping into my Amazon cart.
I love seeing these photos.

So found this method on craftsomejoy on YouTube (I am sure someone here posted a link at some point)
She buys sticker sheets on Amazon and condenses them down into binders.. There are different sections like Animals, School, Sports, etc. All animals go together on one sheet (or however many sheets you need) I have one binder that is just words/quotes (but no alphabets) and one binder of themed pictures and one binder sorted by color if it doesn't fit a theme.
I took that project on and it is a HUGE overhaul. I think I will like it much better once it is all done.
I have come across some problems though.. some stickers have lost their "stickyness" so I had to take the time to use adhesive to keep them from falling off the sticker sheets.
Another problem is now I have a huge stack of die cuts that I kept with the stickers. Not sure how I am going to handle the aftermath of my stack of 'non-sticker' stuff (die cuts and rub ons)
Still a work in progress, but I am liking that if I know I need a butterfly, I can go to my butterfly page and see ALL my butterflies. (Butterflies got their own page as apparently I have A LOT of butterflies) or hearts or stars...

I'm thinking about putting all my worded items together, along with a master list of all the words and phrases. Stickers, die cuts, stamps, ephemera, wood and metal pieces. It would be good to know what I actually have, but it would mean I'd have to break up kits to do it. And I'd also have to consider how to store them all. But I really feel like it would help me to actually use them.
Does anyone else have all their words and phrases in one spot? Or even just a master list that tells you what you have and where to find it?

I have a "tool chest" similar to this one from Container Store www.containerstore.com/s/craft-hobby/Craft-and-Hobby/44-drawer-craft-cabinet/1qd?productId=11009406 and I just separate all my words and phrases into one of the larger drawers. So far it works perfectly for me! I may not have the exact word I'm looking for, but when I look through the drawer, I usually find something that will work.

I use wax paper cut to 8.5x11 and put in a sheet protector. I put a piece of cardstock behind the paper to make it easier to slide the stickers in and out. I have had issues with old or cheaper stickers not staying. That's why I like the sheet protectors. They usually fall down to the bottom. I haven't had to adhere the stickers another way too many times.
One thing I would NOT do again is using old style photo albums and putting the stickers directly on those waxy pages. They don't come off well. . They are staying as is though!

I've found I use them a lot more now, especially roller stamps. I've also found other uses for stamp sets that have a specific theme that work for other pages.

I got this tip from our fellow peas Linda & Mikklyn.
Make a “donate” box a permanent fixture in your scrap space. As you come across things when you scrap that you no longer like or won’t use, put them in the box. When the box is full get it out of the house and donate all that stuff. Or pack it up to sell at your local scrapbook tag sale. Then start another donate box. I now also take a 12x12 plastic envelope to crops that I can put “donate” things into.
I found I got much better at purging when I have a donate box to put the stuff in.

I have most of my stuff stored in kits, but I keep my KP and SC 4x6 alphas and label sheets in a bin similar to this one from hobby lobby. www.hobbylobby.com/Home-Decor-Frames/Storage-Organization/Bins-Crates/Small-Gray-Wood-Crate-With-Dividers/p/80771608 This is NOT the bin I use because it wouldn’t fit them, but it looks just like that, but mine is bigger and longer. I love it so much. I made laminated color dividers so I can see what color starts where, they are just laminated color cardstock cut 4x7.5 so they stand taller then the sticker sheets. I keep my enamel dots sorted by color in a slim drawer unit I got from Joanns. I put a dot on the outside of the drawers so I know which color is in each drawer, I cut the dots into strips when I get a new sheet so they can be stored by color. I have a lot of drawer storage, but everything is within reach of my desk so it is easy to access. I have a huge metal cabinet I got used that has long drawers (like a huge metal card catalog) I keep shallow bins I got at the dollar store in their and I have categories for loose ephemera in there, I have an OA bin, a SC bin, a FJ bin and then I have categories like stars, hearts, pets, tags, labels, words, etc. Since the drawers are so heavy I can store my punches in them as well, which is huge for me because punches are the worst thing to store for me, they are just so big and bulky. Each drawer is labeled, but at this point I pretty much know which drawer holds my circle punches or my OA doo dads. I know my husband thought I was crazy when I called to ask him to come pick this beast up, but it is one of my favorite things in my craft room.

Also, I keep my ribbon hanging so it is easy to grab and put away. I have one of the ikea peg boards with a bungee cord stretched across the bottom and I just drape my ribbon over that. It makes it really nice to just quickly grab a ribbon (and leave it hanging) and drape it where I want to use it to see of I like it before I cut a piece off. It also looks lovely!

hmp Completely agree with you and others on the dedicated donate box/pile/space - I have a spare drawer I pop things in to sell, and I'm getting better at identifying what I won't use from the get go before it even gets anywhere near my stash. msliz I guess the only thing about a master list is that you have to be committed to updating it, as and when you use stuff. Could end up more hassle than it's worth? Or could be awesome!

If I cannot see it or it's too hard to get to (have to move other things first) I won't use it. I'm struggling since I had to move my craft space back into a very small room (about the size of an average walk in closet). I'm constrained by the awkwardness of the space and lack of wall plugs. I can't seem to figure out how to make it work for me so I'm not creating at all right now. I've purged a lot since I moved back into this small space, but cannot seem to find the motivation to figure it out with the stuff I have left. I, too, had to move my craft room into a walk in closet when I took in another student. It seriously alters my mojo! I found that using a lot of vertical shelving over my work table helped in keeping things up off my tabletop yet still accessible and in sight. Two rolling type drawer units on either side for my cardstock and tools. Of course, the one plug was on the wall behind me, so I had to add a very long heavy duty extension cord with multiple outlets running around and over the door to the other side. Lighting is my biggest issue. I put a strip of led lights on the bottom of the shelf over my workspace and then added a stand up ott light on one side and another stand up light source on the other side. Not perfect by any means but it is what it is.....

Ok, so I ordered that tray and it is perfect. Thank peachiceteas for enabling me lol. I'm back in. I am going to break down all of my AE story kits and this will work great for keeping all her cards together.

The large shoe storage drawer at container store holds a TON of PL cards. I keep it in my Closet & take the whole drawer out when sorting. It could only be more improved if it was a sideways drawer instead of oblong. Because then it could live on my desk and hold my photo cases on top & cards inside. But as a shoe drawer that would be impractical lol and shoes was it’s intent.

The cards fit so nicely - not too tight but not so loose that they’re sloshing around everywhere. I use my WRMK tab punch board to make dividers out of cardstock to section it up - works so well.

I bought one of those trays. too! Thanks for the suggestion. It works great. I figured that if I didn't like it, I could always use it for another purpose in the house.
