I hope that they are keeping track of other states as well. Trump also said to liberate Minnesota (and I think some other states). He also talked very poorly about immigrants when here.

Thugs? Terrorists? "Very Bad People"? "Very Dangerous People"? Oh, right. White dudes - so "Militia". At least they used mug shots and not cleaned up pictures from their fundamentalist church directory. One small point to the media on this.

Color me not surprised. I've been in Michigan since June, heading back to Texas in a few days, and this is not shocking at all. She's regularly called der Fuhrer, there are yards signs calling her an idiot, and the online hate is incredible. But this is trump. I just told my husband last week that this would probably happen to Ilhan Omar because of trump, and here we go, just a different woman and state.

Where do they get so much hate?
From their fundamentalist churches?
Seriously where?!?!?
I hate their ideas but I would no more consider kidnapping and/or killing them than I would consider trying to fly by flapping my arms.

This is how Republicans should respond to this kind of crime and these kinds of people: I'm looking at you, donny boy However, it took an act of terrorism for Shirkey to unite with the Governor. What if they worked together setting up state safe guards for covid all along? I would like to believe it would not have gone so far. I am hopeful seeing all the Twitter feeds that this is another turning point for the election to remove hate spewing Trump from office. Attorney General Nessel said these types of groups are all over.

Because at some deep level they feel vulnerable (which is a “feminine” emotion) they take on hyper-masculine personas that involve lots of firepower. I know to you, organized religion is the root of all evil, but I disagree. These dudes have major psychological issues.

If a non Christian had planned this they would be full out calked the terrorists that they are.

I saw someone on Twitter refer to them as Vanilla ISIS.
Whatever they're called, I hope they rot in jail. Along with the asshole Michigan sheriff who said it's all okay because they were just going to do a citizen's arrest.
I can't wait to for this lunacy to end.

Unless you are floridly psychotic, you have control over your actions and must take responsibility for them. How do you know they consider themselves Christians? By non-Christian, do you mean Muslim?

So this is what "Stand By" means? If you do not speak out against trump and vote for Biden, you are an accomplice to this. I have always hated facial hair, but never to the level I do now after viewing this photo. Gives me the creeps. (And with that, I broke my own rule of never commenting on physical appearance.)

Unless you are floridly psychotic, you have control over your actions and must take responsibility for them. How do you know they consider themselves Christians? By non-Christian, do you mean Muslim? I said ‘WE’ because WE as a society jump first to mental illness when white people commit violent crimes. It’s part of the institutionalized racism of our society. Just watch how the public & the press talk about crimes of white people vs people of color. The words used are different and it’s part of the problem if racism in our society. Where people are given a ‘pass’ but the jump to mental illness, they ‘snapped’ it’s always unusual. People of color get a much harsher wording when discussing crimes, even crimes that are much less horrible it violent. I did not say these men were any religion. Their religion or lack of it isn’t obvious. But if it had been a person whose religion was obvious they’d have been called terrorists the wording would not be softened to ‘militia’ as if it’s protected by the constitution. And no I did not mean only Islamic people, I meant any one who is obviously any religion other than Christian. There are many religions other than Christianity that are villainized when someone even marginally involved with that religion commits a crime. Whereas “Christianity“ isn’t ever a factor in anyone’s crime even if it is a radical faction of “Christianity”. Just another inherent bias of our society as a whole, the way the public & the media discus these crimes. You can get upset all you want that I pointed it out but that doesn’t change that it happens. Over & over again. Think about it.

They have no idea how to live and work w/in a democracy. Hope they go away for good. "In the call, Fox said one of the Wolverine Watchmen members could find out more about Whitmer's residence in Lansing, and brought up an idea of destroying the governor's boat, according to the federal complaint. Later that same day, in an encrypted chat, one of the participants, Daniel Harris allegedly said, "Have one person go to her house. Knock on the door and when she answers it just cap her ... at this point. F**k it."... The allegations say while at Garbin's Luther property the next morning, the group is told it will cost about $4,000 to buy the explosives for the bridge. They agree to have another exercise at the end of October, and raise money to buy the explosives, court documents say. But, authorities say, the very next day Fox messaged the group saying he wanted to move the timetable up to have the training and then the kidnapping all before the November 3 general election. A few weeks later, Fox told the group he had bought an 800,000-volt taser to help in the kidnapping and arranged to make a payment for the $4,000 worth of explosives on October 7, the FBI alleges. They never got the explosives. The raids by state and federal authorities came first." Thank goodness the FBI is still functioning as a LAW ENFORCEMENT agency. www.cnn.com/2020/10/11/us/michigan-whitmer-plot/index.html

I hope people protest until he steps down. "Calls for the resignation of a Michigan sheriff who recently shared a stage with members of the Michigan Liberty Militia are growing louder. Barry County Sheriff Dar Leaf, who told MLive he knows a couple of the men who were arrested last week in an alleged plot to kidnap Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, spoke out against the governor at a May 18 rally alongside one of those men, William “Bill” Null. Now a protest seeking Leaf’s resignation is planned for 8 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13 on South Broadway Street, near the Barry Community Foundation building in Hastings. The building, located at 231 S. Broadway St., is the site of a regularly scheduled bi-monthly commission meeting, slated to begin at 9 a.m." www.mlive.com/news/grand-rapids/2020/10/calls-intensify-for-resignation-of-michigan-sheriff-who-shared-stage-with-militia.html

This story is truly frightening and I'm so glad they were caught. I may have missed it but has the Idiot in Charge made any comments on this? Vice Idiot in Charge? Anyone in the administration? Did anyone with a voice that the extreme Republicans listen to speak out about the horror of this? This country is a mess and I am really becoming nervous about what the election will bring.

What's really irritating about this news is the stupid House Speaker who's mad because Whitmer didn't tell him or others about this plot (she knew before the raids and FBI had been moving her and her family around). Umm, asshole, it's not her job to warn you or tell you so get mad at the FBI or the state police.
