Yesterday I started frequent urination, and have some slight pain/discomfort in my vulva/groin area. Maybe a little pain in my belly and lower back, but it seems to come and go and it's not something that's drawing my attention. But the frequent urination (no burning sensation) makes me think something's up. I'm drinking unsweetened cranberry juice, will call doctor on Monday if it's not better, but was wondering if this is a UTI or what. These things always happen on a Friday, don't they?
Update: so it's been almost a week since this started. I saw my primary care on Monday, gave a sample, and they ruled out a UTI right away. They did more tests and I got the word today that they found no infections, urine seems normal. Meanwhile, I feel like I need to urinate all the time now. I go to the bathroom and feel the "need to go" pressure as soon as I stand up. I'm in the bathroom a couple times an hour and pee just a bit, usually,
So the dr is aware, I messaged her this morning, but I have no response so far. Tomorrow is Friday again, so two more useless days where I can't get help; even of I take it upon myself to find a urologist, who knows how long it will take to get in. I have several other health things going on, mostly as a result of my cancer treatment earlier this year, and this new issue has got me at the end of my rope. I just want to feel well. If anybody has any ideas about what this could be and what I should do, I'd be grateful. It seems like my bladder is malfunctioning.

You can buy a home UTI test at drug stores. I'd try that first. Hope you feel back to normal soon, UTIs are a PITA.

Your blood sugars are OK? You're not drinking a lot and excreting a lot? If not, it does sound like a UTI to me too. Drink LOADS. I hope you feel better soon.

Sounds like the beginning of a UTI. I highly recommend going to the drug store and picking up some Cystex. It always works great for me until I can call the doctor. www.cystex.com/about-cystex/

It sounds like a UTI to me too. With the pain in your lower back, I would worry about it spreading to your kidneys. If you start running a fever tomorrow, please go to urgent care or the ER.

FYI not all people with UTIs test show positive. Like a good percentage although I can't remember what it is. My eldest just had one and urgent care said "nope" and sent them away, even though they know their body well, had many/all the symptoms but tested negative. Was given nothing for pain etc Couple days later had to go in again and that (different) doc said oh, you definately have one and then stated the "tests are frequently wrong" stats.

My dd had UTI and first test was negative and three days later, another test positive. If drinking a lot of water and taking a test later in day, it will dilute urine and test negative. Take test with first urine in the morning.

I haven’t had good luck with OTC uti tests.
I get a lot of UTIs and they don’t always the same symptoms. Sometimes I just feel bloated and tender in the area of my ovaries. Lots of water is the best thing you can do.

If you drink diet pop, you may want to try taking a few days off from it. I won't go into detail, but it made a big difference for me.

What are you drinking besides water? I get symptoms like that if I have too much coffee and not enough water.

Prolapsed bladder? I would definitely have them do an ultrasound or whatever they need to do to check that.
Oh, and I hope you feel better soon!

I started a hormone suppressor shot several months ago and it seems to be messing with my a1c. One of the many other things I am very stressed about. But I've taken my blood sugar twice today and both times it's been what it should be.

I don't think it is kidney related, because the side with the problem would have shutdown the need to see by now. However, it could be a kidney stone that navigated to the bladder just fine, but the bladder is now having trouble with the pass off to the urethra.
I am so sorry you are still dealing with this. I can't imagine having that need to pee feeling for this long. I would seriously be biting people.
My last kidney stone was a doozy. I had to go to the ER. The Dr in the ER was studying to be a urologist. He suggested I put on a pair of Depends so at least I wouldnt be moving around as I kept trying to go pee. It allowed me to just lay there, which in itself, brought relief.

I get UTI-ish feeling with some of those same symptoms if I eat a lot of citrus fruits or vinegary things like pickles. Been drinking more orange juice or anything like that?? I have nicknamed it “acid pee”. LOL. Takes a few days to clam things back down and sometimes I will mix a tiny amount of baking soda in a glass of water and drink it to kind of neutralize things.
ETA: Cranberry juice is also pretty acidic.

elaine Yeah, I had Taxol and the other one has completely escaped my brain. It's the one that turns your pee red. My last treatment was,June 1. I haven't felt right since chemo, frankly. It's just always something.

So you had Adriamycin and Taxol, but did you also have Cytoxan? The typical regimen is AC-T.
Cytoxan can cause bladder issues/bladder cancer, even up to a decade after you finish up chemo. I had a severe reaction to it just after I finished it and moved on to Taxol, and was in and out of the ER with urinary bleeding. I had what felt like a bladder infection for 3 months solid. It was a HUGE problem for me. That is when I found out about the potentially long-lasting effects of Cytoxan on the bladder.

I need to call my oncologist too, I guess. Thank you for letting me know.
