So incredibly happy. So full of hope. Listening to him say that we will build bridges and he will be a president for all... goosebumps. Cherry on the cake: full sentences, no word salad, returning dignity to the office. I needed this so much.
I hope we can extend a hand to tjose on the other side and bridge the great divide. I want 45 to take all that hate and anger and division with him. We are not enemies. We will never be enemies. We are one country and together is how we achieve great things.

I've been so worried for you all these past few days, I asked my husband the other night if we had room for some of you if Trump got re-elected. I wasn't even joking. I'm so relieved.
Ireland, right? I’m eligible for Irish citizenship. I’ve been making threats about applying for the last few days, so your offer would have come in handy. LOL. Yes, Ireland. I would love to shamelessly fangirl over you in person!

My DD just called in happy tears!! I was going to clean up the yard because I couldn't take it anymore but I believe that bottle of champagne is calling my name!

For real? Oh my god, I'm crying. Me too. The deep sense of relief of not having to deal with Trump and the coronavirus pandemic is leaving me speechless. Among many other things. I am celebrating today. Celebrating future atrocities prevented, a return to scientists and intellectuals in Cabinet positions, and, of course, decency and caring. It's not the end... there is soooo much work left for us to do!

I just put a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge to chill - I'll crack it open just before Joe speaks tonight.

I pray that he and Kamala can heal this country. Trump’s greatest achievement was dividing America. A dubious distinction.
I am so happy. Tears in my eyes, a lump in my throat.
I may be 63 with a bum knee, but I am happy to help carry his possessions out of the White House.

I hadn’t cried - but listening to Van Jones speaking about what this means to him now has me sobbing. 150% this. I get chills and tears whenever I see a clip of it anywhere.

First, I’m just so very touched by all you non-Americans chiming in with good wishes. We really ARE and have been, in this all together. I am eerily calm and centered right now. When I saw the news, I screamed (DH thought I was attacked by a spider, LOL!) Then I popped open the bubbly and shared a toast with DH. Will have the rest during his speech later. I am loving seeing the crowds outside the WH and in NYC.

I'm excited to not be outraged on a daily basis. Honestly. I'm so happy. Yes. It is so odd to have such a deep sense of relief - not just happiness, but relief - at the election of a President. I was happy when Clinton and then Obama were elected, but never this sense of “thank heaven that I don’t have to feel gutted on a daily basis soon.” Absolutely this. My soul is exhausted by the nastiness, name calling, tweeting, ignorance, self-worship, division, corruption, lying, etc. I feel like such a release of pressure and stress. It’s a beautiful day outside and we’re sitting in front of the television just soaking in this moment. Relief. Joy.

My mom threw a big damper on my happiness. I called her for something unrelated, and she didn't know he had won. When I told her she said, "Well now you can get an abortion up to 9 months." I told her off. She reads the paper every day so I knew she didn't read it. She said, "Biden said it himself." I told her, "Mom, don't say that stuff because it isn't true and it makes you sound uninformed, which you are not."
Then I emailed her about Trump's tweet and that repeating falsehoods like that makes her look bad. Joe Biden and her are both Catholic, and somehow Trump has convinced her that Biden is evil.
I do not believe in the devil and am not religious, but if there are evil forces at work, he is the embodiment of it. Now I have to worry he has come between my mother and me, instead of just half the country.
