Not worried about the immediate side effects. It’s the long-term, unknown ones that are scary. YES! My neighbor teacher at school says that I'm crazy thinking about long term side effects from a vaccine. Um... COVID has unknown long term side effects, why would I not think that the vaccine would? Because that's not how vaccines work.

I'll get the shot at some point.. I will probably wait a round or two first. I am sure work will make us get it anyways due to where I work. They might want to plan on staggering the employees getting it all at once though.. we can't have 1/2 or more of the employees call in sick because of the shot. So I hope they factor that in.

I'll get the vaccine. I'm immunocompromised, so I've had to be very careful this year. I'd love to be able to go out and not have to worry quite so much.

How often will I have to get this shot and feel like ass? Will I be shedding the virus during this time? Will I have to quarantine? So many questions. I won't be first in line for it and if it's a "seasonal" shot like the flu that I have to get every damn year to keep my immunity up, I will probably think on it for a while. As yet, it is unknown how long immunity will last. No, you won't be shedding the virus during this time, as the Pfizer vaccine doesn't use live or attenuated virus particles to achieve immunity. I was kind of wondering about this for funerals of people that died of covid. I wonder if they are still able to pass the virus along.

I will make sure I have enough cannabis and Tylenol and will plough through it. I got my medical card, in part, b/c of the COVID-19 anxiety fears I have! I figured I'd get a nice heavy CBD tincture. But now I'm enjoying all of the other wonderful medical MJ products!

My Godson is one of the test subjects. He said the 1st shot he only had some pain in the injection area. The second shot he had flu like symptoms for a couple of days. Hoping for a vaccine soon!

My neighbor teacher at school says that I'm crazy thinking about long term side effects from a vaccine. Um... COVID has unknown long term side effects, why would I not think that the vaccine would? Because it doesn't contain a live virus or a viral protein so there is no reason to think that you'd have the same side effects as Covid. No vaccine is 100% safe for everyone no more than any medicines/drugs are. Even paracetamol has a list of possible side effects, yet we have no problem in taking them without even checking on the side effects. I have no hesitation in having when our vaccine people gives it a license and when it becomes available to me.

The local news interviewed someone who is a test subject. He said almost the same thing. The first shot gave him minor issues. The second shot gave him a headache and fever for two days. And his arm hurt a lot more. I am hoping most cases go like this. Doesn’t sound all too terrible.

I doubt I'll have a choice, our Government has already said healthcare workers will be one of the first groups to be vaccinated. I think unless there's some compelling reason, like a fatal allergy to one of the ingredients it's going to be a case of no vaccine = no work.
But hey, I had the Hep B vaccine when it was made from the blood of gay men at the start of the AIDs epidemic, and I survived that.

COVID has unknown long term side effects, why would I not think that the vaccine would? Because that's not how vaccines work. They absolutely do! Some can give you long term side effects. We won't know about anything from the COVID vaccine for many years down the line. Who's to say that if I give it to my kids, it couldn't make them unable to have children. Chickenpox virus can cause sterility even when small children got it. The vaccine does not, which is great, but we don't know with this one. AND it's an mRNA vaccine most likely. That can actually get INTO our DNA. No, I'm not a crazy conspiracy theorist but I don't trust my government much these days to do things that aren't going to harm me. I've got enough science background to know to question things that can alter my genetics.

The mRNA will not incorporate into your DNA.mRNA is transcried in vitro using a DNA sequence, engineered to specific viral sequences, such as the spike protein. MRNA can not go back to DNA, much less insert into the human genome.

I suggest you do far more research into how mRNA works and stop listening to people like Emerald Robinson who is the White House correspondent for Newsmax who is spreading misinformation over twitter. Another thing - your Government is not the government of every other country and this vaccine isn't developed by YOUR government. It's a joint operation by Pfizer and BioNTech which is a German company who have been working on mRNA type vaccines for a few years now, long before Covis-19 existed. Altered DNA' claims
A White House correspondent for a pro-Trump website, Newsmax, told her 264,000 followers on Twitter to "beware" the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine. Emerald Robinson claimed in the Tweet: "It tampers with your DNA."
The fear that a vaccine will somehow change your DNA is another one we've seen aired regularly on Facebook posts.
The BBC asked three independent scientists about this. They said that the coronavirus vaccine would not alter human DNA.LINK

I’ll gladly deal with the side effects and go back for the second shot. With asthma and diabetes, I don’t think I’d survive Covid.

From what I have read, the mRNA goes into the cell and causes it to produce an antigen which the body then wages an anti-body response to which will hopefully lead to immunity. Is that accurate?

Not exactly. Somewhat but more complex. The mRNA is modified and messes with the virus' ability to replicate or produce and/or creates immune responses. However, the mRNA will absolutely not integrate into the human genome. The review is helpful.

From what I have read, the mRNA goes into the cell and causes it to produce an antigen which the body then wages an anti-body response to which will hopefully lead to immunity. Is that accurate? No, that is how a "traditional" vaccine works with an antigen response, not the mRNA one. Its totally different. The mRNA is modified and messes with the virus' ability to replicate or produce. You should read the review paper. And that's why mRNA technology is so much of a focus in cancer treatment research. It attacks the invader. It's also why there are debates among virologists about which vaccine to administer to those dealing with people who can't be vaccinated for medical reasons; mRNA vaccines don't prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection but recognise the virus and go on the offense against it within the vaccinated person's body so they prevent development of Covid-19 disease, not coronavirus infection (contrary to some other, more traditional vaccine technologies). The big question here remains to figure out how likely somebody infected with coronavirus but whose body won't face the hyper replication of the virus upon infection because of the mRNA vaccine could be contagious. Anyhoo, mRNA is the future of major disease treatment. It's a fascinating field. To see this technology take the forefront of the emergency vaccine development for this pandemic and get really positive results (Pfizer and Moderna at this stage) is extremely encouraging for the future of this tech and the possible incredible treatment of terrible diseases like cancer.

The article I linked to gives an explanation of why that twitter post ( one of many that are out there) is wrong. You're also wrong in assuming that others are following blindly. They're not, they gather scientific knowledge from experts in their field of science to make an informed decision when the time comes that these vaccines ( there are many in the pipeline, each one working differently) are ready to be administered.
