We have a household on our cul de sac that moved in 11 years ago. They were a couple at the time. 4 years later they had a son, who just turned 7. We do a lot together, including going in on an inflatable Zodiac boat this summer and boating quite a bit together, in addition to fishing at least once a week. We often sit out in our foldable camp chairs, social distancing, and hanging out. We share bread machine recipes. You get the picture.
Anyhow, they always hung a lighted flying pig and flying cow in their tree as part of their Christmas decorations since they moved in in 2009. Last year, they finally had to dispose of said pig and cow, because they were beyond repair. It was a sad day in the neighborhood.
Today, when I went shopping for supplies to get my lights out and up, I found a new lit Flying Pig. I snatched it up with my other supplies and happily drove home.
When I brought it over to my neighbors’ house, Christopher answered the door and actually got teary when he saw the box! He and his wife bought the previous pig when they were newlyweds and it meant a lot to him to get another one. He then proceeded to tell several of our other neighbors, so it was a happy afternoon on the cul de sac.
Merry Christmas to all!

I don’t have a picture of Christopher crying, but here is the pig: does it swing from a limb? I've never seen this and now I am disappointed in my neighbors

I don’t have a picture of Christopher crying, but here is the pig: does it swing from a limb? I've never seen this and now I am disappointed in my neighbors They hung it in their tree. However, all the trees in our cul de sac are/were overgrown (our development is 25 years old), so they cut theirs down this summer and have a baby tree in the front yard now. The above pig comes with a stand that allows it to look like it is flying, even when it is on the ground. Flying Pig will probably have to be on the ground until the baby tree grows a bit - maybe in 2-3 years it will be hung in the tree again!

that is so cute! i want a flying pig! really thoughtful of you! i did something similar - our neighbours at exH's mom's cottage were our dear friends (husband was best man at our wedding). they had received a set solar powered crackled glass globes lights on spikes as a hostess gift you can put in your garden. the wife *loved* them. her husband drove over one with the lawnmower (after wife asked him to move them before mowing the lawn) and broke one. she was bummed. exH found two on sale at home depot for half price, i said if there are more "can you grab one for L to replace the broken one?". he bought 6 in total... some for us and i *assumed* one for her. i FB messaged her to tell her and when exH got home i told him how happy she was. he had a complete and utter meltdown, swearing, slamming doors and screaming "I BOUGHT THOSE FOR US". ummm, we don't need SIX?! wth?? he left and went to the cottage enraged and came back 4 days later like nothing happened. anyway, little did i know that argument was the straw that broke a very fragile camel's back. we split less than 4 months later (clearly there were other issues that is just when i realized this had become crazy town). so i hope your kind gesture stays at just that - a lovely, thoughtful thing to made someone's day!! lol!!
