I have just started watching this show and am about halfway through the first season. I can't stand one of the characters so much that I don't know if I can keep watching it. If anyone has watched it, is it worth continuing? If you don't like Hope, that is the way she yes. I like Hope. However Charmine in season 2 annoys the hell out of me. Despite that I still like the show. Many are saying Charmain in the second season is even worse than Hope, which I can't even imagine!

Haha, I will have twice the annoyances in season 2! I hope the rest of the season is great to take my mind off Hope and Charmain!

You must be talking about Hope, ha. I think she is entertaining. I really like this show. Yes, it's her! I like the show a lot, but she makes me so mad! So I feel like I am in a worst mood after watching it. I love the main character, and Doc is growing on me. But Hope, I don't know if I can continue! I will try to get my kids to watch it, then they can tell me what happens. She is even worse the second season. She does something that would be so childish for a 30 yr old, never mind someone her age. I enjoyed the first season, not hooked on the second at all. I will probably finish it though.

If you’re talking about the mayor-yeah we quit the show. Couldn’t get past her being A raving lunatic as well as her dumb fucking lips puckering Into a pout. I was going to read the books but the show put me off this author for good. Wtg Netflix. Yes! I have never quit a show I liked because of a character before. I didn't realize there was a book. I am going to try to take a break from the show, then try again. Or maybe just watch one episode a week. I think jamming to much Hope by watching a few episodes over a few days is to much. I highly recommend the books!! There are 20ish books. I've made it about halfway through the series and they are SO much better than the show.

I actually "hate watch" this show. I think it's awful but I watch it anyway.
Just before my mom died, she would watch tv on netflix and her most recent show was Hart of Dixie (this was last February). She really enjoyed it so I watched it with her. It became a bit of the joke in the family because we all just wanted to spend time with my mom so we watched whatever she wanted. It being the last show I saw with her, when I started watching Virgin River after she died- I found some weird comfort in that. I knew my mom would like the show. I want to like it. But the acting is bad and I only like Mel. I don't like any other character. Yet I continue to watch it because i'm whacked.
So, I would say if you like Hart of Dixie, you'll probably like this.

I agree with you about only liking Mel! That's a good description that you "hate watch" it! That's a good way to look at it. I never had a show that I somewhat enjoy where I hate the characters so much. So it's hard to watch. I never heard of Heart of Dixie until the Virgin River threads!

Finished both seasons now. I like watching Hope. I like characters who say and do things that I wouldn't have the nerve or the impoliteness to do. Hope is like a person turned inside out. She acts out everything she feels without thinking it through. Every emotion is on display.
Ready to pack Charmaine off to Oregon to live with her aunt and uncle. She'd be back though, who would put up with her and twin babies?
Jack was the character I got most aggravated with. He's one of these people who thinks he alone can solve all the world's problems.
Connie annoyed me at first but then she started helping Preacher and redeemed herself. I like the young love story. It is all romance story right down to the good/evil (not sure yet) twin that has appeared.

I found Charmaine very annoying, though.

I ended up watching the second season and just finished a couple days ago. I wanted to post but I have no idea how to use the search feature, so I couldn't find my old post.
I still don't like Hope, but thought she was more tolerable in the second season than the first. I still don't know what Doc sees in her. I don't mind Muriel with him (the blond woman that likes him). I didn't like when Hope kept telling Doc to "date" her and make her think he likes her. And I wish Doc didn't go along with that. Not nice (but that's just my opinion).
I agree about Connie. She is really into everyone's business but I am glad she is helping Preacher. I wish she would accept that Lizzie is an adult and can make her own decisions. I am not a fan of Lizzie either. I wish her boyfriend (can't remember his name) would start standing up for himself and not listening to her all the time (skipping work, etc.). I agree with you about Jack!
I really like Mel, and I'm glad I stuck with the show! Even though many characters annoy me so much (haha!), I really enjoyed the show!

In the book Lizzie was not an adult. It was pretty creepy actually. She is 14 and Ricky is 16.

I tried to like this show, but I just can’t get into it. Too many annoying characters and absolutely zero chemistry between the two main characters.

I had to take a break during season 1 because I have never had a show where I disliked the characters so much! I really only liked a few. But everyone was saying it's a good show even with annoying characters. And I don't have many shows I watch, so I was desperate! I have to admit I did start enjoying it (still didn't like the characters).

I watched the show last month. The first episode reminded me of Hart of Dixie but then it went sideways for me. I also "hate watched" the show. The first season wasn't too bad, Hope was annoying but there's always one. The second season was painful but it was easy to have on in the background while I worked. I doubt I'll be tuning into season 3. (thanks peace for the terminology)

One night, when you've exhausted all other recommendations and your brain just needs a break. All it takes is that one moment of weakness and clicking that remote over that show and you'll binge watch that third season. I'd like to say I won't, but it's like visiting people you know and haven't seen in a while. They aren't your favorite people but it would be nice to get caught up. Just to see what everyone is doing. And then we (you & I) shall meet here again to discuss our need to stop hate watching because life is too short.

I didn't have much to watch, so I enjoyed watching an episode or two every couple of days. I am looking forward to the next season. I have only watched 4 netflix shows, but I really enjoyed them!

Even mid-season for commercial TV series that air new episodes weekly. Last week, I kept seeing commercials for 9-1-1 and noticed it didn’t record. I went to watch the first episode of the new season on demand and the story lines didn’t look familiar. Realized I must have dropped it sometime last season and just turned it off. My DH teases me about it bc I’ll watch crap but drop critically acclaimed shows. There’s no rhyme or reason to it.

I tried to watch the show but I'm in the middle of reading the book series and it is nothing like the books. I've enjoyed reading them so much that I stopped watching after a few episodes. Why can't they just follow the book storylines?
