This came from our bank just a bit ago.
“On March 11, 2021, the Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) announced the distribution of a third round of economic impact payments to help Americans combat the financial effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Please be aware that although the Treasury began distributions of this third round of economic impact payments starting today, the funds will be deposited into your account based on the stated effective date of these payments. It is our understanding, that the first of these payments will be effective March 17, 2021.”
(We won’t qualify)

I am wondering about the kids. My kids were dependents for 2019 and independent 2020. I am wondering what is going to happen with them. They will probably get it one way or another, through you or directly to them but it depends which year IRS looks at. They are often "behind" it seems. I guessing/betting that you will probably get the credit especially if they haven't filed yet. My eldest never got the first two although was independent. It was claimed on line 30 on 2020's return and they finally got it there a couple weeks ago. Hopefully this one will come directly to them all.

For 2020? It shouldn't matter. Even if you have, as long as you don't owe, you should get it. Ot would likely be based off 2020 income instead of 2019 though. I do wonder what might happen if someone's income was drastically different between 2019 and 2020, though... they might get potentially more or less depending on which year's income they used to generate the stimulus payment. They'll likely adjust as needed for 2021 taxes when filed next year. They'll ask if you received any money, if so how much, and recalculate based on 2020 earned income.

Ours isn’t pending but both of our neighbors’ are. Our bank has previously held the funds for a few days (presumably to use the money) before they release it to their customers. Our back is shady as %#^*.

That's exactly what happens. DD qualified for the first one, but will not get anything this time. She had a nice raise that didn't fully kick in until the 2020 return. The threshold was lowered this time which was a factor as well.

Our bank said it's pending, available on the 17th. But for a small fee, we can have it released now. Nah, I'll wait.

Do you think Biden is going to send out letters post check so we all know who to thank or is that just the last guy who needed the accolades and fluffing to make himself feel good? He sent out letters (Trump)? We don't qualify for the checks, so I had no idea! That's crazy! What a waste of taxpayer dollars. You all will have to let me know if Biden sends out letters! Haha!

Well, I think that the letters were more to notify you that you should have received the check/deposit. I'm sure we will probably get notifications again just as a precaution for people who receive paper checks and may not have gotten it. Unless Trump sent other letters that I have happily erased from my memory lol. Trump did 'sign' all the checks last time. Biden did say that he was not going to sign the checks.

I just got one telling me the last one was deposited back in January and to let them know if we hadn't gotten it. It wasn't a letter like former sent, but rather an official looking tear here letter.

you can check on your stimulus check Hereneed to enter SS#, birthdate and address jeremysgirl I checked my kids' for them and they will be receiving the 17th, it says. They did already file 2020 as independent as they did the year before but this is the first time stimulus came on time directly to them. I also should get it on the 17th, it says.

Nothing yet here, but I'm very impressed at the speed in which the Treasury sent the checks this time. I'm more and more in awe (DD32 says that I'm "in love")with President Biden!!

For those of you who have received your check--have you already filed the federal income tax papers? For 2020? It shouldn't matter. Even if you have, as long as you don't owe, you should get it. Ot would likely be based off 2020 income instead of 2019 though. We got the notice in the mail it was coming and it said it was based on 2019 income.

But last year we claimed ods. This year we won't and he has already filed. I wonder if that will delay ours so that it gets to the right person without us both getting it

We filed our 2020 because we made less this year and will get a refund. Also it put us under the threshold for the stimulus check. But we haven't seen either one yet. Have you?

Have you checked this site? My husband was somehow convinced we wouldn’t qualify, I have no idea why as we clearly did, but I was able to check this site to verify. www.irs.gov/coronavirus/get-my-payment

It says "not enough information". I read that there will be another batch going out in the next few weeks. Hoping we are included in that one!

DH & I wont get a payment, but my college aged son, who only got the last two stimulus payments because he filed his taxes already, got his. He is a broke college kid, working almost full time + going to college, so he really could use the money.

Hoping we are included in that one! and that may or may not change until after the next time you file. My then recent college grad got neither of the first two and that "not enough information" never changed. Eventually they were received by claiming not receipt on line 30 (?) of this years return. Calling and/or inquiring was a joke. They are overwhelmed, I'm sure.

I have plenty to be thankful for this year so if we don't get it, no biggie.
