we didn't go on a honeymoon.
It wasn't a big deal to either of us. Saving money and paying our bills took priority over everything (his ex had left him with a pile of credit card debt).
We're in a good place now (knock on wood!), and travel whenever we can.

San Diego.
For some reason, I had it in my head that I didn't want to travel out of the country, and I didn't want to go anywhere that either of us had ever been before. We got married 2 days after Christmas, so I looked at a map to see where in the USA might have halfway decent weather and San Diego was it!
I wish we could travel more... there is so much that I want my kids to see!... but something more pressing always seems to pop up. Our 25th anniversary is in 2023... maybe then.

we were married in 83 in seattle, my husband flew a lot for business so we used his miles to fly first class to boston. that was a treat except both of us were very very sick. stayed with my old landlady outside boston and were in bed sick for 4 days. (like she brought us broth for dinner). we spent a few days around boston, then borrowed my landlady's ski cabin in south woodstock vermont (a 1850's schoolhouse with a massive potbelly stove and a swing inside). very warm for october.. went to mt washington and 70 degrees. visited relatives. then flew back to san francisco.
we had two weeks off work for it. we already had a house so we had some money but not a lot. we did a cheap wedding.. or I should say practical.

We thought about trying Folly Beach this year, but we are going in May and couldn't find anything that worked for us. I love Folly, and we rent from Dunes properties. It's not the destination that has me looking elsewhere, just the prices (for 22). On the flip side I've stopped internally complaining about how expensive the hotels are for our trip to Orlando in June!

When we got married, my husband hadn't gotten over his fear of flying yet, so we did a road trip.
We live in northern VA and dropped our cat off at his sister's so she could baby-sit, and then we drove through western VA and saw Appomattox, Natural Bridge, Roanoke, Lynchburg, Bedford, Raleigh (NC), Virginia Beach, Hampton, and Yorktown.

Dh and I got married in Santa Fe and stayed there for a honeymoon afterwards. We were b-r-o-k-e and thats all we could afford at the time. Turns out, we had the best time exploring there. It was perfect.

Oct. of 1996 - Hawaii for a total 8 days. We split our time on Maui and Honolulu. AAA quoted us something really expensive - and we were bummed, because we couldn't afford it. Then I talked to a new travel agent and she got us the same trip for about a third of the price. Instead of 'on the beach' hotels, we were across the street. Our wedding was in Southern California - on a very nice day. A lot of Hawaii honeymooners were from the east coast and they all talked about the big blizzard back east and how they had to change their wedding day activities.

I had to talk DH into not going back to work the day we got married. We were married by the Justice of the Peace at 1pm, married by 1:10pm. We never had a honeymoon. We were both military and did a lot of traveling before we met. We got married 2 days after I left the military. I drove from Ft Meade to San Angelo TX with a stop in Nashville to pick up BIL. I was 6 months pregnant and nobody wanted me driving that far alone. DH was still active duty. I never had visions of the big wedding/honeymoon. Neither of us would have wanted to pay for a honeymoon either. We banked the cash we got from his parents that would have gone for a wedding. We are some cheap bastards! 😂

My husband and I lived in Texas and got married in Pennsylvania. Being huge history buffs and living historians we traveled south to Colonial Williamsburg visiting other historic sites along the way. A few years later we moved to that area and we have been here for 30 years.

Young and poor - we toured all over Maine, staying in resorts and hiking Acadia. We made up for it with our 25th anniversary: we flew to Dublin, toured Ireland, Wales and England and then took the Queen Mary 2 back. I like this 25th anniversary trip. Going to remember it.

We got married in 1996 in Ottawa Canada and did 4 days in Disney World and 5 days in the Bahamas. We are deciding where to go for our 25th and Bahamas is near the top of the list. We spent 2 weeks on Eleuthera for our 20th in a rented house (Amore House) and it was awesome.

We went to Florida and spent time in Disney World and around Cape Canaveral. The hotel we stayed at in Disney World gave us a corner room that was a bit secluded so we really felt like the only ones in that part of the hotel. This was almost 25 years ago and during low season. I'm sure it's impossible to find a quiet part of a resort at Disney World now.
We spent a lot of time walking around, having sit down dinners. I only remember going on a few roller coasters. We will be celebrating 25 years and would love to go to Europe. We had to cancel our trip last summer due to COVID. But it doesn't look like Europe will be doable for the next year. I honestly don't know where we will go to celebrate.

We eloped to Negril, Jamaica and spent our honeymoon there to in 1995. The resort we chose had a free wedding package which included free flowers, free hairstylist for me, free wedding cake, champagne and music including the wedding celebrant and even included photography but we decided to do our own wedding photography being that I was a wedding photographer anyway and DH worked at a camera shop. It worked out perfectly even though for a few minutes it felt like I was working on my wedding day When we got the photos back though we were glad we did it because they were turned out the way we wanted them to. DH had the camera on a timer so it took the shots of the both of us and then I took his photo and he took mine. We just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary last summer and couldn't take an anniversary trip (Covid) so hopefully once the world opens up again we can choose a wonderful spot to go to. I'm really craving getting back into some turquoise blue water so I can swim with the fishes again (I adore snorkeling) before all of the coral dies, but DH is hankering for Europe. We still have awhile to decide.

Our 25th wedding anniversary is coming up. We went to Penang Malaysia. It wasn't my first choice but we had limited funds and had booked another trip through a travel agent that went bust. Thankfully we got our money back but not until after the wedding.

We were 20 and dirt poor, but my parents gifted us a honeymoon in HI. My parents also gifted my sister and BIL their honeymoon to an all inclusive resort in Mexico. Their honeymoon was the same week the resort was hosting an unofficial swingers convention. We've teased them about being swingers for 20 years.

We were living in Puerto Rico, but got married back in Indiana (my family is there) and then went back to Puerto Rico to catch a puddle jumper flight to the Dominican Republic. We spent a week at an all inclusive and did caving, horse back riding and had a great time.

I was reading a wedding post on another group and it moved towards honeymoon trips. We were young (20) and I was working part time while going to school. We didn't have much and my parents paid for our large wedding and we used some of the cash we got for gifts to pay for the honeymoon (food, spending money). We went to Toronto. We live in MI and drove to Canada and then took the train. We spent I think four nights. We did have a nice hotel, but most of our meals were inexpensive as was our sightseeing except for my shopping for books (small town girl who loves to read in a big city with many bookstores, it was awesome). We had a lot of fun, even if it wasn't the big, fancy Hawaii trips I read about in the bridal magazines of the day. we ended up going back a year or so later when we had a little more funds. We keep talking of going back one day but haven't yet. I had Toronto on my short list for the Hockey Hall of Fame.

We went to St. Maartin/St. Martin and stayed at a small resort. We had a cute little bungalow, with a private walkway to the beach (just a few steps away). the beach was heavenly - crystal turquoise water, soft white sand, privacy. It was a small resort (no casino, no crowds) and it was late August so a little bit off-season. We explored the island, swam & snorkeled in the ocean, swam in the pool that had a swim-up bar, went jet-skiing, ate in the open-air (but covered) attached restaurant, listed to the steel drum & reggae band that played a little ways away on the adjacent beach. It was wonderful and perfect and low-key.
We kept saying we'd come back for an anniversary (like 25th or something) but the original resort where we stayed was destroyed by a hurricane 4 years after we had been there. It's now the site of a huge conglomerate resort with a spa & casino so we'd have a much different experience if we went back - the beach itself is still secluded (near Oyster Pond on the Dutch side if you know the island) since it's sort of an enclosed area surrounded by a rocky hillside but I think we'd be competing with crowds for beach space and privacy. It's actually been hit with multiple hurricanes over the years (and is in fact under renovation again now, IIRC). Sad that the place we knew and loved is gone but at least we've endured, LOL!

We didnt have much money, so we drive across the border to Windsor and took the train to Toronto. We stayed at the Sheraton Centre and towards the end of the week we were low on funds, so we ate street dogs (hot dogs, not actual dogs lol) for several meals. Good thing we liked them!
We walked everywhere- Hockey Hall of Fame, a Blue Jays game, up Yonge street (not so nice area!) and back down.

It was FANTASTIC. Loved every minute. Flew to Dublin, took the train to Galway, rented a car, drove all around Ireland, took the ferry to Wales, drove all around Wales and England to Southampton, boarded the QM2, which then docked in Brooklyn, NY - an hour from home.

We keep talking of going back one day but haven't yet. I had Toronto on my short list for the Hockey Hall of Fame.We went to Toronto & Niagara Falls in 2012(? I think, or maybe 2011) for a family vacation - it was very fun! We did all the typical Niagara Falls things (except for stuff like the wax museum and things of that ilk), and spent a few days in Toronto, including Canada Day (July 1). I dragged everybody to the HHOF and they all ended up liking it even though (at that time) DD & DS were not hockey fans at all and DH was only a very casual fan but really liked going through all the historic stuff of all the past greats. I've since brought DD into the insanity that is ice hockey fandom (haha) and now she wants to go back to the HHOF. We actually had a mother-daughter trip booked to go there last spring, but I'll bet you can guess how the pandemic messed with those plans, so no go. She claims she didn't know enough about hockey at the time so she didn't pay enough attention to it when we went years ago and "needs" to go back now that she gets it, LOL.

We had to stay somewhat local because his sisters refused to be responsible for their stroke afflicted father for a week. So we needed to be within driving range in case the neighbors called. We're still pissed off about it.

We were married in 1983 and we went to Cancun. As I look at it now, it was an interesting choice considering that we lived in south Florida at the time. It was a great trip though and I don’t regret it a bit.
