Hugs to you, you can do this. We are here for you.
I don't have a lumpectomy story since that was not an option in my case due to the location, and in any case I was sick of all the biopsies I was having to undergo on both sides, so I gladly opted for a double mastectomy with reconstruction.
I'm coming up on five years post diagnosis and I have no regrets. I still have five more years of tamoxifen left and then I'm free. I did not have to have chemo or radiation because they were able to get clear margins, there was no nodal involvement, and my oncotype came back good (that was totally unexpected, I had a port put in and chemo prep/teaching and scheduling and all that and got a reprieve the week before I was to start).
Maybe consider letting mom know once you've got a plan in place. My dad was very upset about my diagnosis but he would have been far more upset if I had never told him. 🥰

I found out easier to tell those who would assume the worst after I had a plan. Hard to deal with the drama of others when you have enough to worry about yourself.
Please insist on genetic testing with a full panel. Pancreatic cancer in your family history is an indication by itself.

Huge hugs and best wishes from me.
I had my breast cancer diagnosis in January, mastectomy in March and I start chemo on Thursday. I have several friends who have had lumpectomies. One was at the same time as my surgery so she is still recovering, but the others all made full recoveries with no recurrence. You can do this!

You are allowed a woe is me post! I'm sorry you're going through this and that you can't share this with your Mom. Which I completely understand about, I hope that didn't come off as judgement of any kind. I also do the same with my parent.

I am sorry, I had a lumpectomy several years ago. The surgery was fine and I was completely fine the next day, I had half a Valium at the doctors because I am a nervous nelly at even regular doctor’s appointments, but the procedure was no big deal.
I hope yours turns out well, will send positive thoughts your way.

I’m sorry you are dealing with this. Feel free to woe is me all you want. I had a mastectomy so I can’t help with a lumpectomy but sending you all the good thoughts and prayers I've got. I had triple negative breast cancer in 2009 and had chemo. We’ve got your back. Hugs.

It is not always bad news - I had a lumpectomy in recent years and the news was all good with a negative result. I cried when we got the news I was so relieved.
hoping your result is as good as mine. Thinking of you.

I had a lumpectomy followed by chemo and radiation. My cancer was small but my lymph nodes were positive. Please feel free to message me if you want. I’m 7 years post treatment and doing just fine!

ss I can fully understand the anxiety about it all. I have no experience, but a few of my sisters have gone thru lumpectomies as far back as 35 years ago-to this year and it's gone well. Follow-up visits were necessary.
Praying for a quick surgery for you and a negative prognosis after that! Hang in there. Hugs!

I had a lumpectomy in November 2019 followed by 26 rounds of radiation. Tamoxifen was not indicated in my case. Recovery was pretty easy in my case. Best wishes to you.

ss I had a lumpectomy in 2014. It was rather large (about 3.5cm). I had twilight sleep instead of being full put under. I am glad I did as when the med stopped I started to wake up. I had no nausea or issues from the twilight. I couldn't get it wet until the stitches were gone. Unfortunately not all melted so I had to be sliced open a wee bit to get them out. Then I got an antibiotic injection and was out on antibiotics for 7 days. I also had a dressing for a few days. I couldn't lift anything for a month (due to stitching issue). Mild pain, Tylenol took care of it. I have a keloid scar about 2.5 inches (but I get keloids).
