Apple cider is called "apple spider" in our house because when my oldest first tried it she said "yum! I love apple spider!"
The heated seats in our cars are called "heat seaters" because one of my kids asked me to "put the heat seaters on" once.

When my niece was little she would call her grandma's hearing aids, earing aids. She is 20 now but we all still call them that. "Grandma, don't forget to put in your earing aids." My nephew used to call spiders, "fiders" (like fighters) because he couldn't say "s" very well. We loved it. To this day, we still call spiders that.

We have a chicken marinade called Spiedie sauce that we eat often. I always said we were having Spiedie chicken and DS started calling it GoGo chicken when he was little. I still use it 12 years later. He used to roll his eyes, but now he just accepts it as the name. Mostly, I think it's easier to spell when I write it on my meal plan.

My dgd would say "a-bless-shoe" when anyone sneezed. That's what she heard instead of "God Bless You". She thought she was replying appropriately!

You know when you drive around and see cows and yell out "COW"... at least we do.. haha.. one of my kids thought we were saying "TOWEL".. so now all cows are towels.
Back when during VCR days, you would pop in the tape and it would say loading (or maybe it was a DVD??) but the way the font looked on the machine, it looks like it says "lording" Not that this happens much anymore... but it's now called 'lording'

DD used to use, well still does, "dippy eggs" for sunny side up eggs.
She also used "island" for freeways. That started at two or three and to this day none of us know why she used that word. She doesn't know and we never figured it out.
Ketchup is kepchup and we sometimes still use that. And hot balloon for a hot air balloon and we all still use that one.
A local restaurant is still called the ice cream cone place. It's a regular restaurant (a Coney Island for peas from MI) and while it serves ice cream that's not at all what it's known for, they mostly use the ice cream for shakes and sundaes for desserts. One day when she was two or three we were out running errands and discussing where to go for dinner. She kept saying she wanted to go to the ice cream cone place. We kept telling her no, that we couldn't go to the ice cream cone place (you know, an actual ice cream stand place) until we ate dinner. And she kept protesting saying she wanted to eat at the ice cream cone place. She was so upset and we were so confused. Eventually after tears and frustration we figured out the restaurant she meant. It has two large fiberglass ice cream cones on the entrance surrounding the sign. And we still call it that sometimes.

My son asked in the park one day if he could draw "cinnamon minerals" in the sand with a stick. Took us a while but we finally figured out he was talking about Roman Numerals. So now they're called Cinnamon Minerals at our house. Only really applies around Superbowl time. :-)

My little sister called her poop frogs. When she was constipated she had 'pointy frogs.' As an adult, every chance I get, I bring up frogs....she's 40.

Middle son had his own language and would argue with you if we tried to correct him. But all the kids have funny words that we still use. Motorcycle is mococyclin’ Ambulance is am-blue-yance Disneyworld is Dee Dee Wow When DD was really little, probably about 5, we took oldest DD to a party, I think he was about 15. As he got out of the car she yells don’t do the drugging. So we say that everything one of the kids goes out with friends. We have no idea where that thought came from. When I was younger we restored an old house so we got to paint our own rooms. When we came up to a nail hole or a patch and the paint didn’t go over it my dad called it a holiday. So I called it a holiday for the longest time. Now he swears up and down he never called it that. Around here it is a very common saying when you miss a spot when painting

Both my kids would ask for”chicken with bones”. And they meant very specifically KFC. My DD, almost 20 still says that.
Now, she says all the time “2 American Girl Dolls” when she’s leaving. When she was little she would hear us say “toodles” and thought we were saying “2 dolls”. And she was a huge AG girl, so she thought we really were talking about dolls. 😂 now, it’s just kind of evolved into the current saying because it’s funny.
