Grand Cayman is nice but I would choose Little Cayman or Cayman Brac if you are looking for something quieter. We stay on the North side of the Island and only go into Georgetown for shopping. The North side is super quiet and peaceful!

Turks & Caicos. My favorite, beautiful and you can do nothing or do a lot of water activities.
Second would be Aruba. We went recently and I'm hoping to go back this year again. We did a ton of activities and it was all amazing!

St John can’t be beat in the Caribbean. It’s our fav.
Santorini is one of the best.
We loved hydra because they don’t allow cars. Boats and donkeys only.
We live a ferry ride from Vancouver island.

Grand Cayman, Puerto Rico, Maui, Grand Turk
we have been trying to visit St. John for the last 3 years, but between hurricanes and Covid we haven't made it yet.

I love the moody green islands of the Pacific Northwest. As a kid I vacationed on Vancouver Island and have so many good memories of walks on the rocky beaches, water skiing, seeing orcas, catching salmon (and eating delicious salmon) etc and just recently we went to Bainbridge Island and it was lovely. I hope to make it to the San Juans soon.

paige, do you live on Denman or Hornby by any chance? I've been to Hornby Island a few times, and in the summer it's amazing. Sure it's not tropical, but it's quirky and fun and has some wonderful beaches. And the days are really long. Maui is my heart place. We stay in the SW, on north Kaanapali beach. I doubt I can ever go back and that makes me so sad. I can't even start listing all the wonderful things about Maui. We went to St Maarten before it was devastated by the hurricane. We loved it there. It's very funky, and it's a great look at a completely different way of life. Very friendly native people too.

We used to pack a lunch and water ski to it from Vancouver Island

We live in Australia so Fiji is our "island home". We have been on 6 trips so far, including our secret elopement wedding there. My husband is a scuba diver and as well as the beautiful coral there, he goes on this shark dive to Benga Lagoon - 12 times so far! They drop bins of fish scraps while the divers stand against a coral bombe and take photos. They see all sorts of sharks including bull sharks and occasionally a tiger shark has come. He has dived in Indonesia- Bali and Komodo Islands, Australia and Hawaii and says that Fiji has the best soft coral. The people are amazing- we have stayed at the same hotel and they remember us, upgrade us to suites if available. We have also spent a few nights at the more upmarket, "big name" hotels, but found they were not as authentic as the older Fijian hotels. ( very retro, 70's style) I have always thought I would never go on a cruise-but we have gone on a 7 day cruise through the islands twice now. The ship only takes 68 guests ( adults only) and actually ties up to a palm tree on an island at one stage! Lots of snorkeling, diving, exploring caves, visiting villages/church services and of course beach time. Last time I was lucky enough to jump on the boat when they sighted manta rays and got to swim above 3 of them! One of the most amazing things I have ever experienced. Corinne

I really loved Isla Mujeres—just a ferry ride from Cancun. I went just before the pandemic started in February 2020 and I’m going again in November with 2 friends. We rent a very quiet air bnb house and just have a relaxing time. We spend lots of time reading around the little pool at the air bnb, we go to the beach some days, we play games and we eat out every night. I’ve taken lots of adventure type holidays but Isla Mujeres is more of a downtime holiday. Can you tell I’m excited for November to come?

If you ever come to Australia and are looking for something a little different, definitely go to Heron Island. www.australia.com/en/places/brisbane-and-surrounds/guide-to-heron-island.htmlIt is on the Great Barrier Reef and has fantastic diving spots. Sir David Attenborough filmed there, and Jacques Cousteau named it one of his favourite spots. When you arrive, you go directly to an orientation programme that tells you what they do on the island and the rules that must be followed. It has a science research centre and you can help the researchers with their work. I went during turtle hatching season. We were not allowed lights at the resort at night, and walked around with flashlights that we had to train on the ground, so that the turtles didn't get confused. They use the brightness of the moonlight on the water to guide them. The flashlights were necessary because there are birds that dig holes and nest in the ground. When I went there (OMG, how was that 20 years ago 😲), there was only one TV on the whole island and that was for monitoring the weather, tides, and sea conditions. I imagine that has changed. On one of the days the sea was too rough for some of the activities so I spent it lazing in the sun on the beach. I saw sharks and rays surfing in on the waves and swimming in knee deep water. It was amazing. I remember we also had an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet one night, which was included in the price. Absolute heaven.

Mauritius. Beautiful scenery, delicious food, incredibly friendly people, and the whitest sand I’ve ever seen. For personal reasons I’ll never go back, but it was one of the best holidays I’ve ever had. I have REALLY been wanting to go to Mauritius. Since we are somewhat closer to there from Morocco, I would be very interested to know the reasons you wouldn't go back if you want to PM me.

Puerto Rico is definitely one of my favs. The food, the beaches...all quite an experience.
The Canary Islands is one of my favs. The snorkeling is AWESOME! We literally got up off our beach towels, walked into the water and started snorkeling in some AMAZING spots. One of my most memorable trips. We stayed on the Grand Island which has lots to do if you have a family. Loved it.
I quite enjoyed Mallorca as well. Very good snorkeling but that may have been the spot where we were and hour from Palma. They had a major flood the year before that washed all of these big concrete/stone blocks into the ocean right off the beach. The ocean claimed it back and made such an amazing home for fish and sea life.

St. John. We stayed over Thanksgiving on the Coral Bay side. Less crowded. We rented a VRBO up Bordeaux Mountain. Gorgeous house and views. No air conditioning needed, no bugs, outdoor showers, etc. We generally like to explore somewhat on our vacations and not stay put. Next time we go will include a trip to Tortolla. We also really like Antigua. The island has a lot of history and things to see.

Not the kind of island you are talking about, but Prince Edward Island is the most beautiful and magical spot I have ever had the pleasure of visiting.
