Gov Noem wants prayer back in school. Says political leaders should minister to us. Her chosen leaders certainly are not godly nor do they follow good morals, many are not good people. They claim to be godly, surely they are NOT! Let us remember separation of church and state. Noem joins Boebert with the need to study The Constitution of the United States.Church is not needed or required to be a good American or person. South Dakota's Republican Governor Kristi Noem refuses to mandate masks for schoolchildren and teachers but she's trying to make students pray in public.....Governor Noem just made clear she does not see herself as a government or political leader, but as a religious one. Speaking to Real America's Voice personality David Brody, Noem declared she will bring back prayer in schools (even though voluntary prayer has always been legal) and thinks political leaders are supposed to "minister" to their constituents.*** "I think that it's really time for all of us to look at the actions of our leaders and see if they line up with the word of God," Noem said, "see if they're biblical and if they really are following through on those actions that God's called us to do to protect people, to serve people, and to really minister to them." Protecting, serving, and ministering – but not in the fight against the deadly pandemic. We've seen our society, our culture, degrade, as we've removed God out of our lives, and people become what they spend their time doing," Noem declared. "When I was growing up, we spent every Sunday morning, every night, every Wednesday night in church, we were our church, family was a part of our life, we read the Bible every day as a family together, and spent time with each other, recognizing that we were created to serve others." **** What the governor seemed to be suggesting, however, isn't a system in which students pray on their own," he adds, "but one in which school officials intervene in children's religious lives. In the United States, that's not legal: As my friends at Americans United for Separation of Church and State recently explained, 'The South Dakota Supreme Court struck down mandatory recitation of the Lord's Prayer in the state's public schools in 1929. The U.S. Supreme Court invalidated school-sponsored prayer and Bible reading in public schools in 1962 and '63.'"www.rawstory.com/kristi-noem-2655058430/Whole lot more scary stuff!!

And it's Constitution Day! God, Jesus, Christianity, and Bible are not mentioned once.

Students can ALREADY PRAY IN SCHOOL. They can have bible clubs. They can pray with their friends.
THE STATE CANNOT COERCE PRAYER.
That should be a good thing, for the #FREEDUMB lovers. They hate when the big bad government controls things - except the right of people to not be coerced to prayer.

It makes me crazy when these people talk about how we have "removed God from our lives" or "taken God out of our schools"... Actually if one professes to believe in God then they should know that we mere humans don't tell God what to do. God does what God chooses, and God is everywhere. It's not up to us to decide "okay, God isn't here in this location anymore".

It's not up to us to decide "okay, God isn't here in this location anymore". "God is everywhere!" Except in schools, apparently, because we don't COMPEL people to pray there. And because we don't FORCE prayer, Their God gets the snits and leaves the building in a humph. What a sad, puny "all-powerful!" God they worship.

Fantastic idea! What a way to teach our kids about different religions and the difference in prayer and practice!
I think each day should feature a different religion's prayer...Christian, Judaism, Islam, Hindu, different Pagan sects...any and all. Then repeat

It's not up to anyone else but me to decide what I religion I choose to practice or not to practice. She's a nutter.

Where does it say she is wanting to mandate it in schools? Just checked all our news sources in our state and not one is reporting this and I haven’t seen it prior.

I apparently am interpreting the word “allow” differently. Yeah, their "allow" means the teacher or the principal FORCES PRAYER in class by leading it - in the classroom, the gym, over the PA, etc. It is already ALLOWED in the normal sense of that word It is not COMPELLED.

This crap pisses me off so much. Kids are able to pray in school. No one in the USA is missing out on Jesus. If we wanted to find him he’s as hard to miss as blinking neon sign. The damn audacity of this flavor of Christianity is so immoral to me, they’re already so privileged it’s galling. We are not quite a full on theocracy yet and I’ll fight tooth and nail to prevent us from being one. An extra sprinkle of hypocrisy, the way they disregard every other religion or version of Christianity outside their own.

We have a similar nutter in our city. She has run for mayor 3 times, I think. First time her campaign consisted of handwritten note and her #1 priority was : Get more Bible study in the city. she lost Second time - it was further down on her list She lost Third time--the local GOP club helped her campaign, she was presenting well, and then on Next Door, those with long memories began to bring it up and her neighbors posted stories about her religious notes left in her mailbox etc. She lost

Years ago, during lunch, when I worked for a big company.........one of the women was on a campaign about "We need prayer in school." So I asked her whose prayer? Catholic, Protestant, Jew, Muslim......just who got to select the prayer? Hmmm she answered, and then shut up. Next day she told me that she went home and told her husband what I said. His reply was he liked what I was thinking and maybe he wanted to talk with me. hahah I don't think it had ever crossed her mind that the prayer might not be HER prayer.
Until we have control of someone's mind, anyone can pray anywhere the person wants to--or not.

Let me go back.... Way back in the 1950s. We actually had different kids present different religious prayers, Bible readings, the Torah too. I don't remember too many others..

Well, I was specifically referring to covid precautions. I’m always glad to live in a blue state, but I’m especially glad my governors’ believe in science. I would be so concerned living in a state without mask mandates, etc.

The dd was back in school for two weeks and came down with covid. She was pretty sick but thankfully never needed a hospital since theirs is full. I worry about them constantly, not just about covid (both my ds and soon-to-be dil are vaccinated), but about something else happening... them being in a car accident or having appendicitis or something else where they'd need a hospital.
