I need a new book - would love to hear the last book anyone LOVED. Count the Ways by Joyce Maynard. So many great themes. One of my favorite reads of the year. Lisa I just finished this book today and it was so good!! I am sad that it ended. I had never heard about it until last weeks thread so thank you for recommending it! Anyone have a book to read that is similar to this? I like books that span a period of time or are told from different perspectives.

The Best of Us by Joyce Maynard. It was recommended here last week, and I really liked her earlier memoir, and then I had a chance to snag it cheap on Amazon Kindle.
I’m enjoying it very much, although, as usual, I’m shaking my head at her choices.
Otherwise, I’ve indulged in mostly fluff, an indication that I’m finding my life stressful enough. But I know I’ll get back to more serious reading soon enough.

Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir Oh my gosh how I loved this book! It was my favorite book of the year and so far I've read 64 books this year. I almost didn't read it because I am completely not science oriented. My worst grades at school were in science, and I hadn't read any of his other books yet. I thought all of the science in it would go completely over my head. Surprisingly that didn't happen at all because this author does an incredible job of breaking down all of the science and explaining it extremely well. The book starts out with a bang on the very first page and never lets up. I adored this book and this is one I'll buy in hardback to keep for myself. 5 big, big stars. I can't wait to read his previous 2 books. I truly enjoyed this book and agree that he made it understandable! Also loved Billy Summers. I get too scared of King's horror stories but really love so many of his recent books!

My Name Is Anton by Catherine Ryan Hyde was also just lovely and spans a period of time too. I also recommend West with Giraffes and The Paper Daughters of Chinatown.
All of these have 4+ star ratings on GR. Lisa
