My husband has something similar (yours sounds worse). Gloves and lotion every night. He uses skin glue when the cracks are deep and bleed. He uses a product called Mane N Tail Hoofmaker. It was for horses but people that applied it noticed their skin and nails improving. It helps but the cracks still appear if he lets up just a bit or treats his skin roughly (like carrying wood without gloves). I have used a glue like super glue. Really cuts down the pain. Helps healing over time, but needs to be applied frequently during the day as needed when washing hands often. A solution to the cracks not happening evaded has me for years.

DH's hands crack something fierce in the winter. He used to find that lanolin helped. We bought the tubes meant for breastfeeding mothers. But he became vegan years ago and he won't use it anymore. It's absolutely his choice, of course, but as someone who loves him, It pains me a bit that he has made this choice, since I know for him, the lanolin worked better than the options he has tried since then. But again, I'm sure I make plenty of choices he wishes I would not as well. So now I just am thankful that we're getting closer and closer to spring.

I got a tube of aquaphor lip chapstick and I rub it on the cracks often too! It's nice for when I don't want greasy hands but have to have something to help with the pain.

I understand what you are saying. I am in so much pain, it would be hard to resist something that worked. I hope he finds something that helps and works as well as lanolin.

I'm wondering if you might have dyshidrotic hydrosis AKA dyshidrotic eczema since the cracks are on the palm side. Do the cracks start with little blisters?
Bag balm is so helpful because it moisturizing and also is an antiseptic. That's really helpful for healing those cracks.

Are you getting enough vitamin A in your diet? One of my friends (years ago) had the problem and began eating a lot of vegetables with vitamin A and that ended it.
With your washing all day long, that may be more of the problem than lack of vitamin A.

I bought Kerasol, Bag Balm, Flexitol and Liquid Band-aid because of the recommendations! I am trying everything!

Another vote for super glue, I was surprised the derm ok'd it. Also not sure if they still make it, Weleda SkinFood. Hope you heal quickly!
