I have talked about our sweet black and tan coonhound Daisy before.
She vomited on Sunday morning, but she has do e that before if she eats too quickly, so we didn't think anything of it.
She vomited twice on Monday we got concerned, because we had seen this before 10 years ago when the dog we had at the time had the same symptoms.
Several days, several trips to the vet and several hundred dollars later we had to put her down. She had gotten into some type of poison and she was undergoing kidney failure.
We got to talking and realized that when she snuck into the neighbors yard (their fence had partially fallen down) and gotten into their water feature and it must have had some type of antifreeze or poison in it.
By then it was too late. According to the vet with Mollie and everything we read online even if we had gotten her to a vet within 3 hours of ingestion she still would have only had a 50%chance of survival.
DH thought she was improving when he left for work but when I came down this morning I found her deceased on the floor of the family room.
DD is absolutely devastated and DH sobbed while we were burying her. (No way were we just going to have her just picked up like trash.)
I am crushed but for whatever reason I can't sit and cry. I think I am broken. I still have to call DS at school and break the news to him. God, being an adult sucks.
I am so going to miss that sweet hound, even her copious amounts of drool whenever she saw or smelled a molecule of food. She could be sound asleep upstairs but the second I undid a twist tie on a loaf of French bread she would immediately be right there waiting for me to slice off the heel--that was and always will be her piece.
Thank you for listening to my sad ramblings. Hug your doggos, pooches, and puppers.

Aw, I am so very sincerely sorry about the loss of your sweet Daisy. Losing a pet is so painful. Especially when it is due to an accident instead of old age. I lost my Weimaraner to having been poisoned when she was only 5 years old and I was devastated. I have no proof, but I know who was responsible.
Try to take solace in the fact that you gave Daisy an incredibly loving home and that she was happy with you. There is just no way around it. It is going to hurt for a long time.
