My skin is so itchy, it's driving me crazy. Our furnace will likely be on til May and to make matters worse... I swim three days per week - and the chlorine exacerbates it. Has anyone found a really great moisturizer or have any other tricks for dealing with this?

Humidifying the air can help, also trying to protect your hands from varying in temp too much - hot to cold etc. Body Shop hemp cream overnight while wearing cotton gloves can help too.

Cetaphil Cream or Lotion. Target has it. Works great. Be sure to use often enough.

Cold showers. I hate the feeling of lotions and oils on my skin and shower much more frequently than I should (3+ per day) and cold showers are the only thing that has helped. It has also made me less likely to jump in the shower for "comfort". I bought a water purifier and have seen great changes in my hair but not much on the skin front.

Slather yourself in Vaseline Intensive Care lotion head to toe when you get out of the shower each morning. I've tried all the lotions up to the really expensive brands and always come back to Vaseline.

Cetaphil! Also use their soap during the dry, cold months. My daughter uses both and only has eczema on her hands due to hand washing. She no longer has it on other parts of her body.
Se applies 3x a day.

I'd find something with shea butter in it to shower after swimming. I LOVE the TruBlue line from Bath and Body Works. I also try and find hand lotion whose first ingredient is water or shea butter with alcohol being one of the last listed ingredients.

I have ezcema and like the St. Ives Naturally Soothing (orange lid). Also Aquaphor for really troubled areas. I hate having to lotion up every time I go in water but it's just the way it is (I also don't live in a climate where we have to run the indoor central heat).

Aveeno lotion or gold bond medicated lotion ( green bottle). Stay hydrated.

I completely agree! I have extremely dry skin and have spent a fortune on lotions over the years and always return to Vaseline Intensive Care lotion. The white bottle is the best.
The other thing that I highly recommend is this stuff: Oil of Olay in shower lotion
This stuff is fabulous and has been the best product that I have found for my dry skin.

When in the shower I exfoliate with a sugar scrub and then when I'm done (still in the shower) I slather myself head to toe in baby oil with Shea butter.
When I get out of the shower I pat dry and then slather myself head to toe in baby lotion.

Body butter all winter long. I like Body Shop and Trader Joe's best. Lotions are too thin to work on my dry skin for very long.

My DD was just telling me what she does not that she lives in a dry climate. Right after the shower she puts coconut oil all over. She says it works.

I make my own bath oil - I blend almond, jojoba, avocado and sunflower oil and scent with essential oils. I add 1-2 tablespoons when I take a bath at night. It is exponentially less expensive to make your own bath oil.

I'm not much of a lotion girl at all - I generally don't like the way they feel after putting one on. However, I'm currently in love with Soap & Glory's The Righteous Body Butter. It gives me heavy moisture relief but feels very light on my skin.

DH bought a small humidifier last winter and I have to admit that I was more than skeptical that it would help. But, you know what, it works! I also use Aveeno lotion as soon as I get out of the shower.

I have used Cerave lotion and body wash. They are both unscented, so perfect for sensitive skin as well. I bought them both at Target. I also use coconut oil on my hands.
I hate the dry, itchiness of winter!

Our allergist recommends Cerave. We use that and coconut oil. Dr Bronners peppermint oil soap or Dove in the shower. No hot showers either!

Jojoba oil! Picked some up last week as a "carrier" oil for my foray into essential oils. 2 days of just putting this on my legs and no more itching. And seriously, they were so itchy I was almost bruising myself scratching!!

I exfoliate with Trader Joe's lavender oil salt scrub. I also do this before I shave my legs, so I don't get razor burn or irritate my dry skin so much. I love L'Occitane Lavender hand cream. I keep a tube in my handbag. They also have a lavender hand sanitizer that doesn't dry out your hands. This weekend on Sephora, there are a lot of $10 gifts. I've been wanting to try the L'Occitane almond oil shower oil and the almond oil skin oil, and they had a sample set for $10. I also stocked up on more L'occitane lotions because I love them so much. Their shea butter lotions are amazing. I've gotten the best relief by layering body oil under lotion. For my face, I use Estee Lauder's serum under Philosophy's Hope in a Jar Night for dry skin. This stuff is amazing. I love the lavender smell as well as how thick the cream is. It soaks into your skin without feeling greasy. I get compliments on my skin all the time. For skin highlighting, I rub on a bit of Estee Lauder Idealist before I leave the house. It gives me a bit of a glow for those days when I don't want to bother with putting on a full face of makeup. I just use mascara, lipstick and the Idealist. I also use the Idealist as a highlighter on top of my foundation and cream blush. Powder blushes don't work as well on dry skin. I check out all the skincare and cosmetic products I want to buy on Paula Begoun's website. Paula Begoun's beauty product reviews

When I get out of the shower I pat dry and then slather myself head to toe in baby lotion. This is exactly what I do! I stay away from detergents/soaps as well! I also don't shower every day. I showered yesterday but need to wash my hair so I'll wash it in the sink.

And about 5 years ago I cleared up 95% of a HORRIBLE case of keratosis pilaris (Google is) in just 6 days of doing this! It has never come back!!
