Uh, go to Cafe Du Monde every single morning and gorge yourself. Apart from that I got nuthin! It's such an interesting city. There's so much delicious food that you won't go hungry. I remember taking a street car to Commander's Palace years ago for great food. We stayed in the French quarter and I just remember being able to pet all of the stray cats. I was in cat lady heaven. Did I mention that you should gorge yourself at Cafe Du Monde? What's that you say? You knew that already. Ya. I read your post. We really wanted to go to Antoines. This was years and years ago. We get there and the whole menu is in French. Hey, it's a French restaurant. No problem. When we asked our waiter for help interpreting the menu he got angry and rude. We left. I know it's supposed to be good food, but I don't take getting yelled at by anyone well. We just wanted to know what to order.
We also sent somewhere that I cannot remember that had really good pastrami sandwiches. One of those suckers totaled my mother's purse. Man they were good.
We did visit a plantation but it made me sad when I thought of the horrible crimes that took place.
Bourbon street is a must visit w/your dh at night. It's a nosiy, drunk crowd, but it's interesting to see the shows and the totally unfiltered community.
Oh, in case I haven't mentioned, do go to Cafe du Monde. It's scrumptious. If you don't want to wait in the lines then you can come here and dh will make you his homemade begniets.

Since it will be so hot, I would visit the World War II Museum and the aquarium. They are both fabulous! I would also recommend a debris (roast beef) sandwich from Mother's. Sharon I second the World War II Museum.
