Just finished listening to Daisy Jones and The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid at the suggestion of @gina and SabrinaPIt was great! After I got used to the characters voices switching I really got into it. It was funny how two different characters would tell their versions of an event right next to each other. I loved getting the opposing characters points of view about the same situation. I really liked how descriptive the scenes were - what people were wearing, what they were doing. Great visualization, just like being there! I was surprised by the storyline and a few of the turns were not what I expected to happen. I enjoyed the ending. The cast was phenomenal! Thanks again for the suggestion. I'm thinking Lessons In Chemistry will be my next listen!

I read it in 2013 and gave it four stars, according to my GoodReads records. I don't have strong memories, but I remember enjoying it.

Has anyone read The Dog Stars by Peter Heller? I’ve never read any of his books He wrote The River which DH and I read on a transatlantic flight (me going and him coming back) in 2018. His writing is amazing so much so that I felt like I was *in* the story. "The story of two college friends on a wilderness canoe trip—of a friendship tested by fire, white water, and violence." There is a sequel called The Guide. We have not read The Dog Stars.

Read another one! Be More Loki 4 stars I started out planning to give it 3 stars, and I stopped myself because I don't want to give the idea that it's not a good book. It is. I know very little about the character of Loki; the only MCU movie I've actually seen is Black Panther. Yet the described him well enough to give me a sense of character, which was augmented by the fact that the MCU is such a ubiquitous presence on the internet. And even if you've never seen anything about the MCU on the internet, I think you'd still be fine. Full review hereMy goal is to try to finish two books this weekend... Daring Greatly by Brene Brown, and probably 21 Things You May Not Know About The Indian Act by Bob Joseph. I started the Brene Brown book ages ago & never finished it, so I want to try. I admit I'm not enjoying her writing style. I think I was expecting something more like the way she speaks. I wasn't prepared for references to studies & statistics; I thought she'd appeal more to my heart than my brain. And I am committed to reading something about indigenous issues this weekend, because today's Canada Day.

For David Rosenfelt fans, his newest Andy Carpenter book will be released on Tuesday. Holy chow: An Andy Carpenter Mystery.David is hilarious in the emails that I get from him. Said he is amazed at all the parades on Monday in anticipation of the release of his new book.

I just finished “Mrs. Everything” by Jennifer Weiner and I really enjoyed it. So many great themes around what it means to be female, bring a mom, life transitions, sisterhood, marriage - really excellent. I’m also sort of reading “Verity” by Colleen Hoover. So far I like it. I want to read “Funny you should ask” next - here is a great list from NPR - lots of books I want to read (including “Lessons in Chemistry”) apple.news/Ap5GwhwmCQ2qIovKZY_ArlQ

I just finished
The Dharma Bum's Guide to Western Literature Finding Nirvana in the Classics by Sluyter, Dean
I love this author now. He was a high school English teacher and spiritual seeker in his spare time. Each chapter covers a different author...Emily Dickinson was one of my favorites. He wrote another similar book about movies I will have to try to find on interlibrary loan. I love this type of writing because it's a little like being back in school again...also his love of life just glows, very uplifting during a dark time.
