How fun! I think you really need to figure out dates - if you really are going Jan/Feb that would dramatically change recommendations. And don't hesitate to spend time in one country - I think too many people rush around and never really stay long enough to get a real feel for a place, they just see the guidebook highlights and move on. I could easily spend a month in Italy and not have a bit of trouble. Greece has been on my list for a while, but it's never worked out. I think it would be a fabulous place to celebrate your 50th - just not in Jan/Feb.

4 weeks is longer than I'd want to be in any one place, so I'd have to make a few stops. I think a tour of South America would be how I would spend that time. This. I would probably do the west coast (plus Bolivia). A train tour (Nariz del Diablo or Tren de los Volcanos), thermal pools, crater lakes in Ecuador Cusco, Machu Pichu, and Huacachina in Peru Uyuni Salt Flat, Valle de la Luna, and El Fuerte in Bolivia The Lake District and Torres del Paine in Chile We probably wouldn't have time for all of it but I would kill myself trying.

I could easily spend 4 weeks in Italy or in Thailand and Vietnam. Those would be the top 2 picks for me. If you are going in January then I would suggest Thailand, Australia or maybe South America. Ooh, or an African safari combined with South Africa. So many choices!

We had an Iceland-Norway-Scotland-England-Wales trip planned before Covid hit. I think we're going to do it next year. (Still have the voucher from Icelandair.) And I definitely want to go back to Korea again!
