Young Sheldon has really become obnoxious as he aged. I think they made him like that because before he met Leonard and Penny, he was really obnoxious. Remember the episode when Leonard first came to Sheldon's apartment building to answer his ad for a roommate? And his old roommate tried to warn Leonard? He was insufferable. I will be sad when this season ends.

Tonight’s episode was a shocker. Totally unexpected (to me). looks like Georgie and Mandy will have a spin off next year. Their first year of marriage.

Ok, I did some googling. According to BBT storyline Sheldon goes to East Texas Tech at 11. (Start of Season 5). So by that, he and Missy are 12 this year. Sheldon finds his Dad having an affair at 13. He goes to Cal Tech for his Masters degree at age 14. And his Dad dies when he is 14 as well. Based on that, Sheldon should be leaving home next season. I love how they handled the “affair” and the reveal for that was great. I just wish Sheldon knew that his dad didn’t really have an affair.

Well I cried tonight. I too wish that Sheldon knew the truth about his dad. I am going to miss this show.

We must have missed where we found out that George didn’t have an affair or why Sheldon thinks he did.[
Or does Sheldon think George had an affair with the neighbor when he really didn’t?

We missed it too. It had to be with the neighbor lady. But they never explained on Young Sheldon why he knocks 3 times before entering. Two more episodes.

They explained it a few episodes ago. It was when Sheldon and Mary came back from their trip. Mary was wearing a wig and Sheldon walked in on them. He just saw the blonde hair and thought his dad was cheating. Then he explained in a voice over that is why he always knocks.

I wasn’t surprised by the ending since Shelton had talked about his dad's death on the BBT. I am glad they didn’t end the series with this episode though, gives them more time to wrap up the show on hopefully a more positive note.

They absolutely explained it. They did it in a voice over by Jim Parsons. His dad never had an affair at all. How long ago? I figured he didn't have an affair, just got a little chummy with Brenda.

It had nothing to do with Brenda. It was the episode when Sheldon and Mary came back from Germany. In the BBT Sheldon always talked about how he knocked 3 times after catching his father having relations with another woman. In the Young Sheldon episode George was with Mary in a wig and as part of the role play he called her Helga. During Young Sheldon Jim Parsons said in the voice over that he always knocked 3 times after that to give people time to put on pants or something like that. I don't know exactly how long ago, it was this season though. After the letter writing episodes. So pretty recent.

I read somewhere that they were contemplating using the Brenda storyline, but the father had become such a beloved character decided to try and keep that while staying true to the BBT reference of his father cheating. I think next episode is going to need lots of tissues.

Thanks!
I saw it but did not put it together that way. I need to watch more closely
I’ve tuned out half of this season, truthfully, because I find teen Sheldon to be annoying as heck.

It always bothered me that the actor who played Jimmy Speckerman (Leonard's childhood bully) is who plays Sheldon's father. I think he does a great job in the role, it was just really jarring!

It was a very clever way to stay true to the original show. The only thing they have really changed from what I can tell is how Mary in BBT trashed George a couple of times on her visits. She would not have done that as they had gotten through the rough patch in their marriage. We watched the episodes tonight and I accidentally started us on the 2nd one from last night first. We weren't surprised by the ending. It had to happen and the entire episode had been so positive for George, you knew something bad was going to happen. I think next week's finale is an hour long.

I’m going to really miss this show. Sheldon doesn’t bother me as I’ve been around people who have autism who act the same way. I still find it endearing. All of the characters have been fantastic as their roles.

I knew George’s death would probably be coming since we knew from TBBT that he died when Sheldon was 14, but I was kind of hoping he would make it through the end of the series & Sheldon would just do a voice over saying his dad passed after her left for CalTech. The writers of this show are amazing!
On a lighter note, Missy calling Sheldon’s school “Cow Tech” was hilarious
As mentioned, I loved how they handled George’s “affair” On TBBT, he told Penny he always knocked 3 times because he walked in on his dad having an affair with a blond woman ( leaving us to always believe it might be Brenda), but when Mary returned from Germany, she put on a Heidi like costume with a blond wig & told George she had a surprise for him, which is actually what Sheldon walked in on.
Boy am I going to miss this show!

I’m going to miss this show. Sheldon is my least favorite character now but I love the others and will be sad when it ends. I know we get a spin off and am happy about that. I wonder if we will see mee maw? I love her.

I've started watching from the beginning. I never really watched all the episodes in order. Plus I didn't start watching it until after the finale of TBBT. Iain does a remarkable job emulating Sheldon as a child. They all do a great job.
