Does this happen to anyone else? I'm battling being a night owl and making myself go to bed by midnight. However, I end up having such freakingly vivid dreams. They actually wake me up in the middle of the night multiple times.
As a result, I'm always dragging serious butt the next day. I feel like I've been up all night doing whatever I did in my dreams. (Which I lose the details of 5 minutes after waking up. That's maddening on it's own. )
Anyone else suffer from what I like to call Dream Exhaustion?

I do sometimes. I will also dream that I am awake and trying to sleep when I am actually asleep.
I have ambien for nights when I absolutely have to be on my game the next day.
I used to stay up until midnight on a school night. Now I freak out if I am not in bed by 10:30. I seem to sleep better.

I've always heard that vivid dreams happen when you're in the deepest rem sleep. But I could be wrong. I have incredibly vivid dreams most nights but wake up rested.

Yes! I thought I was the only one. Crazy vivid dreams and sometimes they set my mood for the day after I wake...sort of dark or anxious waiting for something to happen, etc. Sometimes they are kind of comical though. Once or twice I 'invented' something and woke up ready to make my fortune. The other night I ran the most exhausting marathon all night long but my bff was right there to cheer me on - even though she showed up late, she kept cheering me on..as I climbed over rocks and fought crowds of people, and we stopped by the beach, took surveys of people's opinion on the street and eventually crossed the finish line! LOL - I'm sure that one was full of meaning. I try to share the details I remember with DH before I forget. But like you ...I'm TIRED!

I've already heard that vivid dreams happen when you're in the deepest rem sleep. But I could be wrong. I have incredibly vivid dreams most nights but wake up rested. That's what doesn't make sense to me. I've researched and dreaming usually means you are in the deepest sleep. REM sleep. However, my REM 'dreaming' sleep is so vivid, it wakes me up! Three or 4 times a night. It's truly maddening. L

My dreams seem to always involve extreme physical exertion. Running, climbing, jumping... Some mornings, I even wake up sore. Like I actually DID what I dreamed. L

One recurring dream I have ~ usually before my semi-annual crop ~ is that I show up without any supplies, make-up or pralines as my snack to share. I had this dream again last night. I'm always SO relieved when I wake up!

I normally can recall and retain bits and pieces, but not enough to be able to tell anyone any comprehensible version of it. However, one dream I had a year or two ago, I still remember quite a bit of the details: I raced all over creation with the cast of Criminal Minds to secure a casket, which I had to physically push to the top of a roller coaster. WTH was that about?!?! Even now, just thinking about that dream has me feeling so tired, lol. L ETA: Dennis Miller

Dream sisters. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one dragging around half dead all day because they were so damn active all night in their dreams!

OMGoodness, this is me!! I've been trying to go to bed earlier too. About a month ago I dreamed that there was a shooter at my DD's elementary school that was after her because she had talked to the mayor (the mayor had visited her class and I'm a lunch aide at another elementary and we had just found out about the video we were going to have to watch for active shooter training, so there was a reason for the dream.) In the dream they had shoved DD out into the hall so the bad guy would get her. I woke up so blazing mad and it took me DAYS to get over it. Knowing that it wasn't true and was only a dream, I was still mad and could be again if I think about it too much. That dream messed me up. Since that night there have been several nights that I've had such real dreams that I wake up confused and tired. It's awful.

What I want to know is why I'm not seeing any results after all those physically exhausting dreams. I feel the pain, I should see the gain. L

I have horrific dreams about my kids, too. Those are the WORST. Throws me out of whack for sure. L

I didn't have my antidepressant for a day and a half because my refills expired on 11/1 and I refilled on 11/4. So I had to get my doctor to call it in--but my pyschiatrist couldn't write it because she joined a new group since my last visit and I hadn't gone to her new practice, so I had to get my primary to write it.
Oh my word those dreams were so horrible and vivid. I kept dreaming that I was awake and would try to get up, and then realized that I was dreaming and tried to wake myself and couldn't wake up and knew I couldn't move--I *hate* those paralyzed thinking you're awake--like an intruder in the house, and I can't move to grab my pistol--and I realize I'm still dreaming... but this time, I knew I was asleep but couldn't wake up--it was so bizarre.
It was so stupid to run out.
I have such a hard time falling asleep and then staying asleep. I sleep when I can--sometimes during the day I can't keep my eyes open. Especially after I eat. My blood pressure drops and I get so sleepy.
I take trazadone and hydroxyzine for sleep--not to fall asleep but stay asleep.

Yes... Especially when life is stressful or I've been around a lot of panic/PTSD triggers... The days are hard and all I want to do is sleep, relax, and escape from it for a bit and end up having dreams that are almost as exhausting as the days...
I go into the hospital next week for a minor procedure and they mentioned that I'd be sedated... I'm crossing my fingers that I'll have my best rest this month while they're poking around...lol

Yep. All the time. Earlier this week I woke up from a dream in which I was late to work and had a heart attack when I finally arrived. They were trying to revive me with the defibrillator paddles that shot out blue electricity. I was exhausted from that all day! I had to tell my boss about that dream so he could have those paddles ready.

Happens to me. As a matter of fact sometimes I wake up mad at my poor hubby for something I "thought" he did in a dream!

Yes! Sometimes when I tell people that I'm exhausted from my dreams, I think they believe I'm nuts. But it's true. I've also noticed that I dream even if I only fall asleep for a few minutes (like when I hit the snooze button), and that I am always dreaming when I wake up, whether it's due to an alarm, noise, or just because. My dreams seem particularly vivid, and I can usually remember at least parts of them for several days. I hate waking up tired. One day this year I woke up feeling completely refreshed, and it was so rare and so wonderful. Wish that could happen regularly.
