You cracked me up. Maintaining a sense of humor through cancer AND shingles makes me think you must be one kick ass chick. You'll love Disneyland all decked out for Christmas. Have a great time!

You poor thing! Celebrate with a bang on New Years Eve... Kick 2014 in the butt! I will also second Dermoplast. The nurses sent me home with a can after having DS. I needed it, I'm sure you don't need my childbirth gore That stuff is amazing. It's also great on skinned knees and stuff.

You poor thing! You have been through the wringer this year and to top it off with shingles (especially where they are!) is so unfair.
I really hope the anti virals make a big difference and you can really enjoy your Disney trip.

Ugh, just adding my thoughts and well-wishes and prayers. I had shingles last year and still have residual twinges. But you will beat this, too! Lisa

What a lot to deal with. I had shingles for the first time exactly a year ago at the same time that I had kidney stones. Not fun! The antiviral helped keep them from getting severe. I also used Aveeno oatmeal bath which seemed to help. Good luck with your recovery!

The doctor did tell you that while you have active open lesions you are contagious and have possibly been spreading the chicken pox virus among all the friends you were in contact with, correct? Please let them know you were in an active contagious period and until all pox/lesions scab over you are still contagious. She should have prescribed Zovirax or an antiviral for you and Atarax for the itching. Chicken pox/shingles are especially an issue for pregnant women. Ihave had shingle as an adult, it sucks. As a nurse I have treated a number of patients and watching them suffer also sucks. Aveno oatmeal bath is wonderful for the itching also.

I feel for you. I just got over it in my throat and mouth. I think you win. But good for you for keeping a sense of humor about it.

Wow, I'm so sorry you've been through so much in the last year. I LOVE your positive attitude and you're a real inspiration on how you're dealing with everything. I hope you find some relief soon and have a chance to celebrate your cancer recovery too.

I have had shingles three times. Can't imagine having them around the nether-lands....... There is a cream that helps the itching and burning. I hope the Rx can help, but you may have had the outbreak too long for the pills to help (Valtrex). My sympathy, my dear!

I believe that insurance will cover the Shingles vaccine once a person is 60. Be sure to get the vaccine the day after you turn 60!

(Thank goodness!) I feel a lot better today. I do have some soreness, but nothing like I did last week.

That is just plain cruel. You've been through way too much and after such an immense scare and so much physical and mental pain I think that shingles is just UNFAIR! May you feel comfortable and well and enjoy every second of Disneyland.

Ok now I have a very vivid picture in my head of what you found while googling rash on anus.
I am glad you kicked cancer in the butt... I am glad that you did get your cream finally even tho you are going to send it back. are you sure you don't want to keep it around in case you might need it for something else.
I am sorry you have shingles.... but at least you know what it is and you can get rid of it now.
I hope you have fun at Disney land.

You have the best trip ever! Shingles stink! Had them on my legs and man it was painful. I can't imagine. I'm glad something is working for you. Lavender may help too. It is healing.

You learn something new every day! OP I am glad today is a better day.
I never knew you could have shingles more than 2x (I had never thought about it really) and OMG that should be illegal or something! Totally wrong. On all levels. That kind of pain and itching.
I had shingles on my left lower back so I understand what the pain is like. I do get that and it's horrible.
I had no idea you could get it in/on/around your eye, mouth, leg, backside, etc. (I had never needed this knowledge as I thought I was done with them for life).
I don't like how there is no prevention for people under 60. I don't want to get them again. Chicken pox as a kid and shingles as an adult is more than enough.
