Hit: Female Foodie's smoked jalepeno poppers. I had never made them or even eaten one & they were YUM! Putting the hot mashed potatoes in the crock pot to keep warm for the final hour. It just took one of the usual last minute items off the list.
Miss: Broccoli salad. I needed to make it keto so I made homemade mayo, which was awesome. But I decided I just don't like broccoli salad.

Last hit wasn't a new recipe, but I made Watergate salad for the first time in six or seven years. DH actually tried some and liked it, which is amazing since he has never been a fan of any type of fluffy weirdly, I am eating Watergate salad as I open this thread. Lol We haven't made it in years but my daughter has a craving!

I have a great broccoli salad recipe with asian peanut sauce.. and another one with golden raisins, sliced red onion, toasted pecans and light dressing.
I only made a few traditional things so everything came out and my pumpkin pie is the biggest hit. second was the homemade cranberry relish (4 cups raw berries, 5 apples, 2 naval oranges, 1 lemon, two cups sugar. grind fruit into small bits, not mush, add sugar and let it sit for a while.. put in fridge or freezer. )

Hit: the mashed potatoes. My DH only makes them at Thanksgiving. He uses golden potatoes, ridiculous amounts of butter, and heavy whipping cream. Decadent. No leftovers there.
Miss: My future son-in-law volunteered to deep-fry a turkey. The middle part got done and it was pretty good, but the legs and wings were still undercooked. Meh. He will try again next year.
