Well, now I want to go to Palm Springs. The food and activities sound excellent. I'd like it to be warmer (not hot, but not 40 degrees) but don't want to wait until spring break season. What would the beginning of March be like??

Love your photos thanks for sharing. It makes me want to go back. Maybe during Christmas break. Thanks!Ā Have you been to Mohave National Preserve?Ā That's actually where all the Joshua Trees are, lol. Although there was a big fire there a few years back that burned a significant number of trees. It's still something to see it though with trees as far as you can see. There are also come sand dunes there that are fun to hike. There are a lot of the Joshua trees on the Western part of the park. We enter through Joshua tree the city. We havenāt been to the preserve and google shows that many parts were damaged by flood. Itās close enough though that I think I need to add it to my list.

What would the beginning of March be like?? If memory serves it should be warm. I have seen 90+ days then but donāt know if it was rare or normal. It will cool down at night. ETA. This week itās in the 60ās there. We are about 1.5 hours away and we donāt have many days in the 40ās more like 50ās and itās almost always warmer there. I was actually surprised to see it in the 60ās because the few times we have tried to go in recent years itās cool here snd 90ās there lol.

Oh, I vaguely recall flood damage - bummer. We visited a few years ago - after the big fire, but before the floods.

What would the beginning of March be like?? March typically is no higher than 85Ā°. But we have had hotter days. Just depends on the weather patterns. It can also be cooler (high 60's) in March.

This is what my daughter and I did last time we were in Joshua Tree: Joshua TreeJTree is a relatively small park and there are a lot of shorter walks/hikes you can do. Pick and choose based on what interests you and how much time you have. Thank you! All those details are super helpful. Those sunrise photos have me thinking that maybe Iāll drag my butt out of bed early one morning

In the spirit of Peace Sign ās post about following up on threads, I thought I add one here. First off, thank you all again for your input as to things to do. We went to Joshua Tree for a day and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The topography is amazing, and the hikes, spectacular. Visited Tahquitz Canyon, and also the tiny little cactus garden. Really liked the Art Museum, it had very different and interesting art, and a Art + Light exhibition that would be difficult to explain, but very cool in person. Managed to time our visit for a docent ātourā of that exhibition. The docent was perfect in her delivery and knowledge. I was impressed. We went to the Cabazon outlet mall one day. I wasnāt shopping because Iām losing weight right now, but my friend made several purchases and was very happy! The Cabazon dinosaurs made us laugh. We thought the Aerial Tram was āok.ā I think part of the āokayishā was that even though we had purchased out tickets weeks beforehand, we still have an over 1 1/2hr wait for a tram. Itās a shame that they donāt reward those who think ahead with a shorter wait time. I have serious issues with heights, and have Xanax on hand for situations like this. Of course we went āhouse hunting,ā twice Saw the big Marilyn, wandered the tiny Main Street of PS (having not been there before, we thought it was larger). Stopped by the street market on Thursday evening, and other stuff. Dining wise, we did pretty well. Shermanās Deli makes chopped liver sandwiches (please, I already know that it grosses many people out) just like my mom did, and I went there twice. Took my friend to Del Ray for her birthday. It was perfect. Also ate at Boozehounds, The Farm, and a bunch of other places. Never had a bad meal. By the way, if you want a beautifully fresh and tasty salad, try LuLuās in town. Had a lovely strawberry salad with chicken for lunch one day. Yum! I had a difficult time trying to get my friend interested in looking into things prior to the trip. She found a couple of things I would have loved to do at Joshua Tree that I would have loved to do, but unfortunately they were already booked up. One was a sound bath in the park, and the other was a star gazing experience (we both need direction on that) in the park as well. Next time! There are many other things we did. I found it to be the perfect mix of things to do, and chilling out. My son and his partner were in town (staying at a friendās) house the first few days. Then I had a couple days on my own, then my friend showed up for the last part of my stay. Best of all, I came back to dark, dreary, rainy Seattle feeling so much better than when I left. So, snow-birding may actually become part of my winters from here out. I donāt know if Iāll do PS next year. Itās a lot quieter than I thought it would be, which is fine when one is traveling with someone else. But on my own it was a bit boring because Iām not a golfer or a hang out by the pool kind of girl. I think Iām going to try San Diego next year. We used to have family there and visited often. In fact my ex and I always planned to snow-bird there. So if I can find month-long rental that meets my criteria, Iāll try it. Soā¦that is a long a$$ update, sorry about that! Oh wait, lastly, this was the view out our living room window:

Glad you had a great trip and visited the dinosaurs. We got several times a year. They have added a lot since I was a kid. Used to just be the 2 dinos.

MichyM - I've never been that interested in visiting Palm Springs, but after reading your trip report and seeing the photos I am may have to consider a long weekend over there. DH had tossed it out back in the Fall, so I know he's ready to check it out. Glad you had a wonderful trip and feel better!

Thanks for the thread. We are headed there in February for a week. We rented a Mid-Century modern house for dh, 3 adults kids, their spouses and our grandchild. So excited for these recommendations! Oooh, I'd love to hear more about your rental. This might be a great destination for some family time with our kids and DD's in-laws.

So glad you enjoyed your trip. It definitely has a slower pace/vibe to it, which is what I find so relaxing.
