Hi everyone! I'm meeting my mum for our weekly Denny's breakfast in awhile so I'm posting early. My mum is having shoulder surgery on Tuesday so won't be able to drive for six weeks ... I'll have to bring her groceries etc. and Molly will help her out too ... it's an inconvenient time (so close to Christmas) but she took the surgery date because who knows when the next one would be available! Then I have to get gas and groceries ... then home to wait for my Hello Fresh and Inspired Go deliveries ... do some laundry ... yes, I live a glamorous life! This is what I posted on Facebook yesterday ... I think we all have times when our mouths are lonely! I didn't end up seeing my girlfriend for takeout dinner last night so we are doing it tonight ... pasta!!!! Did you get time to play with your Cricut yesterday scrapmaven? Healing thoughts to those still feeling under the weather! What are your plans today? What is on your menu? Have a relaxing Saturday everybody!

It's still raining. We're dealing with a roof leak at our rental property which is always fun ~ not! Thankfully it's just down the hill from us ~ before we moved up here almost 6 years ago it would entail DH driving from the Bay Area to handle it. I'll be making a big pot of gumbo today. Thinking of you today scrapmaven . Please take care of yourself while you take care of others.

I am 100% feeling great today. I will retest tomorrow and then apparently if negative I still have to mask when going out. I have no where to be anyhow LOL
Not sure what is for dinner. Maybe a chicken quesadilla. Going to work on addressing some Christmas cards for the card group here. It will be nice to watch Football without the Bills playing...less stress

It is a very cold and foggy Sunday here - the sort of fog that just wraps around you and makes you feel damp and cold to the bone. As usual, we went to church this morning, then DH and I went for brunch at a really cool café here called Bapas - it means ‘Bavarian Tapas’. They serve small versions of breakfast and local specialties, so you can have two or three different dishes without feeling over full. DH then had to head to the airport - he’s in Sweden all this week - while I headed into town to meet a friend at one of the Christmas market (yes, again! Different friend). This was one of my favourites, the medieval market. The drinks there are served in pottery mugs, and the one I got had a shot of rum on a sugar cube, and was then set alight! Not sure what’s for dinner tonight. I am not really hungry after all that, but will find something small so I don’t wake up in the middle of the night starving.

DH is still sick but feeling a bit better today. It’s been over a week so this thing is hanging on a long time. It’s not Covid but there is so much other ick going around here.
I babysat the grandboys last night and one of them was feeling crappy too. I figure between him and DH, I’m doomed.
My Christmas shopping is complete. The outdoor decorations are up but haven’t done anything inside yet. Soon…
Not sure about supper yet.

My head is clear now. It’s like I can think now. I still sick but am so much better.
Dinner tonight is a mystery. It’s not 8am yet so I have a few hours to decide. I have to worry about breakfast first.

Dinner will be rechauffe fish chowder which was amazing if I do say so....I gave DH the choice of rib eyes or the chowder and he choose chowder, so who am I to argue!!!!
I have just finished organizing and boxing the gifts I have, and made my list for Gift Cards....I am headed out soon to the mall, the DJ's from the radio station I listen to do a toy drive every year, the goal is ten thousand toy's so I will go bring my donations. While in the neighborhood I will pick up 4 of the GC's I need.
I have done 4 loads of laundry, sunday is sheets and towels day....Made breakfast for DH, and cleaned all that up...dishwasher will be done by the time I get home...and the dog is fed/walked.
I am calling my work for today done!!
christine58...Glad you are feeling 100% leannec....Hope all goes well with your Mom, I have had 3 shoulder surgeries...they are tough, as it is hard to do things one handed!

leannec and cadoodlebug , thank you so much for thinking of me. I did part of a cricut tutorial yesterday. Dh showed me how to set up youtube on the television. That way I could work w/design space at the same time. I'll do same today, though I might not be able to do it w/the tv, cause of football. We went to mil's 3 times and will likely do the same today, but she's literally 2 mins from here, so it's not a big schlep. Still, I'll find a way to slow down. I decorated for the holidays and today I'll decorate the tree. Dinner will be something from the freezer like TJ's teriyaki chicken or some gyoza, either w/steamed rice and salad. karenlou , they don't teach you about all of the aches and pains from being a nurse do they? You are such a giving woman that I think you're not just a nurse hero, but a special nurse hero. leannec , I'll pray that your mom's recovery goes easier than planned. Does she have a recliner in which to sleep? I've heard from friends that makes it easier. Enjoy your day w/your mom and your friend. christine58 , your post made my day. So glad that you feel good today. Delta Dawn , good to hear that you feel better, too. cadoodlebug , I'll have to pass along to your meme to my nephew, the violinist.
sueg, many of us probably wish we were there w/you. What a treat for you to be able to enjoy the Christmas markets each year. Please take photos for those of us who want to live vicariously through you. taylortroop , sending you hazmat suit vibes. You can avoid this. EEK! Happy, enjoyable day, tribe.

The euchre game was successful last night with lots of yummy food.
Best of all ~~~ everyone brought wonderful toys ~~~ hot wheels sets, beautiful dolls (BIPOC as well), legos, dump trucks, games and so much more. Filled up my entire car this morning as I brought them to church. Approx $1,000.00 of quality beautiful toys for children and teens. This is from 14 guests!
Today I am going to spend time with my gkids and make a gingerbread house, do some baking with them and then cook dinner with them. A day filled with love and happiness.

scrapmaven and others who have commented on the Christmas Markets. This year, the markets seem really special, I think because we haven't had them for two years, and therefore appreciate them even more. I also am trying to squeeze five weeks of markets (They started them early this year, partly because of the two year closure) into just over two, as I am leaving on Wednesday. I have wanted to eat/drink ALL my favourites, and also have done a lot of Christmas shopping there. For anyone who reads my posts and sees my pictures, and thinks 'I wish I could be there' - I highly recommend visiting Germany and Austria in December. It can be cold, and there may be snow, but that just makes the markets prettier, and hot drinks more welcome. As well as Munich, I love the markets in Nuremburg, Regensburg and Augsburg (all Germany, and within an hour or so of Munich) as well as Vienna and Salzburg (Austria, and also not far from Munich). I had heard there are other nice ones (Cologne, Prague, Strasburg) but I have never been to them.

We weren't there in December but one of our favorite cities when we traveled to 7 countries in 2003, was Rothenberg. Obviously they didn't have the Christmas markets but I did some damage at Käthe Wohlfahrt’s Christmas Village!

I have 0 idea of what's for dinner tonight. Take out of some sort, probably. Chinese, Greek, who knows...
I managed to schedule an appointment at my ENT tomorrow. I hope she can help me. Even sneezing is making my ears hurt even more. Ick. I'm wondering if I got some daycare germs from my nephew. I slept 9 hours last night, and still woke up tired.

leannec....Hope all goes well with your Mom, I have had 3 shoulder surgeries...they are tough, as it is hard to do things one handed! I know it will be difficult for her ... and even more of a challenge is the fact that she has an ileostomy bag ... changing that with one hand will be interesting. leannec , I'll pray that your mom's recovery goes easier than planned. Does she have a recliner in which to sleep? I've heard from friends that makes it easier. Enjoy your day w/your mom and your friend. She doesn't have a recliner ... I hope she can get comfortable somehow on her sofa! It's going to be a long six weeks for her until she can drive

We’re having chicken wings cooked in the air fryer and tots (not Ore Ida, I found a brand that is far better tasting, imo) with a salad for dinner.
Dd is away with her bf for a couple of nights so I have bath duty after dinner. Washing the dear girl’s waist length hair is a chore!

sueg, now I really want to go to the Christmas markets. cadoodlebug, that's a great photo. Now I want to go to that shop, too. leannec, hopefully, your mom will be sent home w/home health care. That will help a bit. You don't need to do this all on your own. rymeswithpurple, sounds like you might have an ear infection. Make sure that the doctor gives you stickers and a lollipop. I hope you feel much better, quickly.

I'm still working on cards with the first batch in envelopes, sealed and stamped for tomorrow's mail. While I wait for the next group to dry I'm finishing off the indoor decorations, taking a lunch break and listening to football.
DH's gout flare has improved enough for him to go out and take care of his Christmas shopping. Depending on how he feels later, I might grill the steak for them to go along with baked potatoes and roast vegetables (onions, carrots, butternut squash and whatever else is lurking in the vegetable drawer). Or I might pull grilled chicken from the freezer to go with the vegetables.

leannec, hopefully, your mom will be sent home w/home health care. That will help a bit. You don't need to do this all on your own. She has hired dd#2 to take care of her for a few days ... scoop cat litter, do some basic things around the house and run some errands ... Molly will spend some of the time, including sleeping, at my place though because I have internet and Grandma does not. . (I live 20 minutes from my mum, Molly lives 50 minutes, so too far to commute)

Nothing interesting going on here. I made a sort of fake stroganoff (no sour cream! my system can’t handle it at the moment) with rechauffe beef and gravy, sautéed mushrooms, frozen peas, and pasta the other day, so that’s probably dinner.

It’s been a busy day. Went to the office for a while. Came home and cleaned. DD and granddaughters came over to decorate the downstairs tree. I love the kids excitement over doing it all themselves. They are so proud of it. I still need to do the real tree that’s out on the screened in porch. scrapmaven Vegas was a great time. We saw Luke Bryan while we were there. He puts on a really good show. The Christmas decorations at the Bellagio in their conservatory are fabulous. I love hearing about the markets you venture out to sueg. That drink looks delicious. Dinner is jalapeño popper chicken.

DSO spend his whole weekend - in the heat - helping other people build stuff. So as a treat I made one of his favourites for dinner - crispy pork belly bao. His sister messaged me to say that she wanted to arrange Uber Eats for him as a thank you for helping her out, but I'd already planned the pork belly. She'll arrange a dinner delivery another day.
