I want to buy one. Tell me about yours. What's the manufacturer's name, and how do you like it ?

I use a heated blanket year round. Yep. And have had great luck with the Biddeford brand. I purchased one at Costco and it lasted about 3 months I believe it was Sunbeam so avoid those if possible.

I have a heated mattress pad. LOVE IT! In our Boston house, the bedrooms would get under 60 at night. We were all toasty warm. We live in Virginia now, and in a better insulated house. But I still use it to take the chill off the bed. I turn it on an hour or two before going to bed and it's lovely to slip into the toasty warm cocoon of my bed.
ETA: I think ours are Sunbeam. I bought them at Target, but it's been about 5 years.

Well, I am glad to read this. Biddeford is the brand that Target and Kohls sell. There were a lot of poor reviews about how they quit working suddenly. I bought one anyway since Kohls had such a great BF price. We've only had it a couple weeks, but it's super soft, and our dogs are fricking addicted to it.

My dad's home burnt down due to an electric blanket. He lost 1 dog in the fire. It was a gift to him & his wife. Not sure what happened, but she put it on her bed, plugged it in, went to finish up her dishes & within 10 mins her bedroom was engulfed in flames. The fire dept determined that the cause of the fire was the blanket. I don't know if I could own, but the thought of a warm blanked sounds nice.

LOVE IT! Never have to get in to a cold bed again. I use a heated blanket, a heated throw really, when I'm watching TV in the living room.

I have a Hallmark brand (like the store) from Japan a friend sent me a few years ago. It is amazing. It is a heated cover.
I have a heated pad (it's big) say 4'x2' and it's amazing. exDH send DS and I one when our old ones broke a couple of years ago.
I like the ones they sell at the Bay here too. They are very soft and fuzzy warm. I think they are Sunlight.

Ours is a Sunbeam dual controlled blanket for our queen bed. Never had any issues. The dual controls are essential if sharing. At least in my house.

I also have a heated mattress pad and as a single woman I am lucky(or unlucky depending on how you look at it) enough to turn one side to 9 and the other to 6. Each night I start off on the warmer side and flip over to the cooler side when I get too hot then I hit snooze and settle into "9 side" in the morning and curse having to work for a living hahaha! Can you tell I love heat? Regarding fire hazards; I replace mine the second I find it feels "off" the Biddeford one blinks on weekends and I am assuming it's because I've turned it right back on after it cycled off.

That's why I couldn't have one. I don't even want a curling iron that isn't auto shut off. My big fear isn't our house being broken into, but that we left something on that could cause a fire. I am so paranoid about stuff like that, so no matter how wonderful an electric blanket would be, I wouldn't be able to do it.

I've used a Sunbeam brand electric mattress pad for 15 years. I'm on my second one because we went from a queen size bed to a king size. I like the fact that the mattress is heated up and then I'm between the heated mattress pad and a blanket.
I turn my heated mattress pad on about 5 minutes before I go to bed so that it warms up my bed, but I turn it off a few minutes after I get into bed. I don't like to leave it on all night. Maybe that's why mine last so long.

I have a "Perfect Fit" Warming Blanket king size dual controls that we've had for at least 8 years. Love, love it. It doesn't have coils for the heating elements, but flexible wires that are very light weight. The heating is gentle. And it has both an ON and separate OFF switch. It wasn't cheap, but it has been just what I like. I think I bought it at J C Penney.

Like many others, I also have the heated mattress pad (purchased at Kohl's, so I'm guessing Biddeford Brand). It's dual control and is at least 5 years old. I turn it on before going to bed and then turn it off as soon as I'm in and snuggled in...I love getting into a warm bed! But it would be too hot for me to have on all night.

All of ours shut off automatically after 8? 10? hours.

I admit, I'm more than a little nervous about that same thing happening to us, and I've put off this purchase for a long time because of it.

I should add that both of mine are 12 hour shut off ones. That wouldn't have helped @red88 and I am truly sorry for your dad's loss. Ours do shut off after 12 hours and that is a great feature. They are cold immediately after 12 hours. Move the dial on the hand control and they are warm all over again.
