It looks early 90s to me, too, but I saw a lot of it in stores already this fall/winter. Actually I think my new coat (called burgundy on the website) is pretty close.
I like it, but it's a flattering color for me and the last few weren't. Come to think of it I have a tunic blouse pretty much that color. Looks nice with gold jewelry and chocolate brown boots.

I don't see it as mauve. It's more the color of pomegranates or garnets.

I like it for almost anything - scrapbooking/paper-crafting, clothing, accessories, home furnishings, etc, I can't wait to see the Sephora line based on this color - it's a flattering color for me in general so I can see lipstick & nail color being very pretty. It seems very warm and "lush".
I also liked last year's color but it was not a good color on me at all (washes me out), and it was not a color I would have ever used in home decor.

I love it! I hated orchid and didn't think it worked for very many things at all, and didn't see it in actual production anywhere. The only place I saw the orchid color was on blog posts trying to promote it. Now this is a color I can use. I adore reds and I wear that color of red particularly well. I can see this coming into my home this year sometime.

Am I the only one here who has no idea what a pantone is (obviously it's a color that someone has determined is the color of the year, but who decides and why?)

I love it! But it's close to my personal favorites. And, I look good in that color

I like it. Other recent choices were weird shades to me, but this one works. I'll be interesting to see how it's used.

I was thinking it looked more like Garnet red than mauve too. I like it most things in my house are that color. I just got a couch cover that color. I really really need new dishes but it will have to wait but I could go for those!

I just bought a Radiant Orchid colored blouse this weekend. I will hate to see it go- it was my favorite of all colors of the year ever!
This color is pretty in small doses. It will be hard to work into Spring and Fall.

it's mauve. it looks like my current lipstick, but for anything else it screams early 90s to me. blech. I used this color for my wedding, that was in 1989. I'm not a fan of it for 2015 either. ETA: I don't think it's a mauve, more a burgundy or pomegranate color.

I like it for clothes....lips...but not eyes, unless you really know how to do makeup. Just my opinion.

I'd like it for nail polish! That's the first thing I thought of too! I'd buy nail polish in that colour for sure. I don't see it as anywhere close to mauve - I have always known mauve to be light purple-ish.

I have been wanting to paint my kitchen cabinets a brick sort of red, but not cranberry or burgundy. This is perfect! Love it!
