My Cuisinart broke (but is not still under warranty). The metal pin in the "pusher assembly" broke off, so now the thing won't turn on at all. And I don't like that if you accidentally push the ON button while it's unplugged, like while you're getting it out of the cabinet to use, then plug it in, it will turn on immediately. I don't think I should be able to put it in the ON position while it's unplugged. I ruined the plastic dough blade that was stored in the bowl when I plugged it in while it was apparently in the ON position. Pretty sure I don't want a Cuisinart this time.
So, what food processor do you have and love? I know things just aren't made as well as they once were, but I'd like it to last more than three years.

I have a Black and Decker Shortcut; it's pretty old but it's held up very well.

We have had our kitchen aid food processor for 17 years. It still works like new. I love it.. It is one of the few appliances in the kitchen I like to use.

Can't you get a replacement assembly? My Cuisinart is practically an antique, but parts are still available.

Yes I can get a new bowl and pusher assembly kit, but it costs $75 total, and I can get a new one for $100 (mine is just a 7 cup)

I'll admit that I have a beautiful KitchenAid food processor that works great but I rarely use it so I don't know it's long term ability ... it is a brand that I trust as my mixer is an excellent workhorse

I just saw that KitchenAid came out with a food processor attachment for the mixer. I know absolutely *nothing* about it except that the infomercial looks intriguing and it costs $100. When our CuisenArt finally dies I'm going to look into it as having 1 less giant tool in the kitchen can't be a bad thing.

Mines a cuisinart, and I love it. Never had any problems. Although I know what you mean about the on switch...I try to always look at the switches before I plug it in, and I keep it unplugged just for this reason.

Thanks all. I'll check out kitchenaid. Now that my kids are starting to cook too, I don't want one that is finicky about whether or not it's turned on before it's plugged in, etc.

I saw that too, but it looks like it only comes with discs to shred and julienne. I didn't see any blades to chop food, but maybe I just missed it. food processor attachment

I did find a dicing blade add-on, but still no chopper
