My dad will be 87 soon and wouldn't have a clue about how to send a text. He does own a iPhone though. He checks email and his stocks on his laptop. My stepmother also has an iPhone and sends photos and texts me with liberal use of emoji.

Gem Girl: No need to worry. My mom always knows how to call or text, it’s when she starts playing around and changing notifications or other settings that she gets frustrated. There is also emergency buttons in her apt that can be used in case of an emergency.

I’m a very senior citizen. I’ve had an iPhone since the IPhone 4. I currently have the iPhone 13 Pro. I was the first one to have an iPhone and gradually talked my DD, Son-in-law, DH and now grandson in getting iPhones. For years I was the “go to” person to ask how to use it. Now it’s my almost 16 yr old grandson we all ask. My older sister just got her 1st smart phone, the iPhone 13 last year at 77 yrs old. She’s still a little overwhelmed by it and rarely turns it on, but does love taking pictures with it. It’s a very expensive digital camera. Ha.

My 86 yr old MIL did not want an iPhone, but I did give her my old iPad and DH taught her to text on it. She likes to get pictures on it from us and other family.
