What systems do you have for your water? We are having a bad silt problem. Looking at buying a new whole house system. How do you filter your water?

We don't have one now, but did five years ago. I don't know the name of it, but it used a UV light. We did have silt issues if we got a lot of rain, but it usually resolved in a day or so. The water did taste good.

We just have a water softener. It's located where the water comes into the house.

We have a Culligan softener with an extra filter system because our water is so nasty. We also have a reverse osmosis filter for our drinking water.

We just have a water softener (I think it's Culligan). We don't drink or cook with our tap water though. I can't stand the taste of it even filtered. We buy 5 gallons of fill-your-own bottled water at a time and use a dispenser we bought at Sam's club.

Do not filter our well water. We test it yearly for bacteria but other than that we just drink it. I think we were told to bleach the well as there was an issue but it was a long time ago and never had a problem since. Yes, it's kind of hard, and I wipe down the shower and the sinks right after use. And yes, it has iron and we work to keep it from staining the sinks and other stuff over time. But it's the best tasting water and frankly, I'm sick of the hyper-purified crap. Our water tastes sweet and it's just delightful.

Thanks for the repies. But what kind of filter do you use? Besides a water softener. I said silt, buti think its sediment. Not sure the difference. But its the gray stuff. That builds up in the toilet etc. i was reading that the well walls may be falling in, or something. I will have to check into it and have someone come out. It has gotten bad lately. We are replacing the pressure tank next week. As we found out that is going.
