6-2-2023 - At this point I would be very surprised if a serious Democrat will enter the race. So for all practical purposes Joe Biden will be the Democratic Nominee for President. So I’m changing the title of the thread to reflect that.
I’m also adding a poll.
He has my vote. But the question is will the Democrats, in mass, do the right thing and vote for Biden-Harris?

First political ad by RNC v Biden
"It’s pretty remarkable to me that they begin by acknowledging Biden was legitimately elected," tweeted Christopher Hale, a Biden delegate from Tennessee.

I wish the D's had gone with someone younger, that is all I have to say.

I will vote for him if he is the nominee. Ultimately, we will be voting for Kamala Harris anyway due to Biden's age and the likelihood that he wont live through a second term (due to his age).
Looks like GenX will never have a president from our generation at this rate.

I can not believe that your country doesn't have any better candidates for President than two 80 yr old men. I would have to vote for Biden if I was American but really not much of a choice.

I believe so, because Trump. I am not thrilled to vote for an 80-year-old person, but Trump cannot become President again. He will be much more dangerous than he was the first time. And the other thing is, Trump is nearly as old as Biden, and is in horrible physical shape.

I know it'll never happen but I really wish we could add a max age to running requirements. You have to be at least 35 or 45 to run for president. Why can't we say once you hit 80, you are not eligible to run for any office again? I trust that he's still mentally sharp and physically capable, but I want people who are 80 and over to just sit back and relax. This applies to all offices.
Why assume he won't live through a second term? Carter is still here at 96 (?). Biden takes care of himself unlike TFG.

Thing is we do.. but we don't have as much choice in it as they want us to believe, and a huge percent don't even bother to vote to try to get in better options. Honestly as a gen x Im tired of voting mainly to vote against someone I really don't want. I'd love a younger set of candidates, really wish they'd put a age limit on it.

I would max out running for office at 70, then the oldest a Pres could be is 74 at end of term. Anything older than that is too old.

On the Dem, we don't have a better candidate that can actually win a general election. I'd love to know who you think can actually win. I totally agree with you that I'm tired of voting against someone and would love to vote "for" someone.

I like Biden and think he is doing a good job. My concern is his age. Not even necessarily his age during presidency, but I worry that we will get to next summer or sometime close to the election and something will happen to him, and then Democrats will be scrambling to come up with plan B.
I wouldn't vote for an Republican at this point.

I have always been a person who voted for the individual running, not for a party. Things that have happened since 2016 are making me ignore any person running on the GOP ticket and that makes me sad that I have been forced into partisan politics by the extreme positions of the GOP.
I thought Biden was too old last time but choosing between Biden and Trump is a no brainer. It will be Biden all the way.
I do like the way he has brought some calm and sense into our political arena.

So far Biden has been a great president. I will gladly cast my vote for him. I agree. I also think he is the only candidate that can beat Trump. Just like last time. I wish I thought Pete could win. I really don't think anyone else can get the votes. And God forbid we have another 4 years of Trump.

Joe Biden has been an excellent president considering all that he walked into when he took office. I too would love to see a younger president but Joe is in pretty good shape, much better than TFG. The orange menace will be dead before Biden.
I have never agreed 100% with what any president does but I don't have a lot negative to say about Joe. I think he can beat the republican nominee and that is all I care about at this time.
I would love to see Pete as president. My hope would be that he wins in 2028. I just don't think that is possible in the next election.

Too much can go wrong physically-and mentally-when you are over 70. I fully support working as long as you like, but POTUS is no ordinary job. That said, when I look at how Republicans everywhere are behaving, and listen to what they are saying, I have no hesitation in voting for Biden. But next time, someone much younger needs to get the nomination.

why don't people think he will live through another term? it's a difficult job but i think he will live through it. he seems more physically fit compared to the cheeseburger eating dough boy who preceded him and is running against him.
